3 - The Game in Detail

Radar mission is a battleship type game. This one is pretty hard to find,
but I did manage to get myself two cartridges so that I can go through the 2
player in detail, as well as the one player modes.

        3.1 Game A - Battle Ship mode

The game has you go through a few options and set up your ships before
actual play.

       3.1.1 Option Screen

Grid Size - 8x8, 10x10, 12x12 - both players always has same grid size
Aircraft - On, Off - Controls whatever the aircraft is launched from the
          aircraft carrier midgame. *
Lucky Shot - On, Off - Controls whether luck can give a player an
          advantage. *
Near Miss - On, Off - If shot is at A2, and ship is at A1-B1, an alert
sounds letting you know that a ship is near the area, without hitting
          the ship
Commanding Officer - In a 1 Player Game, the computer side has 3 AI
Difficulties. Easy is the one showing it's tooth,
Medium is the one with the mustache
Hard is the one looking grumpy

        3.1.2 Ship Setting Screen

    A - Places Ship
    B - Picks up Ship
Select - Chooses Which ship to place
Start - Start Game, after confirming you are ready.

        3.1.3 Battle Screen

3.1.3.1 - When it is your turn
      A - Fires
B - Changes to view where you have been hit.
      Select - Same as B
      Start - Not used here
+ - Used to choose a spot to hit

3.1.3.2 - When it your opponents turn.
1 Player - Moves Screen to area to be hit.
2 Player - Shows a Cursor, telling you approximate area +-1 of where you
       you will be hit

3.1.3.3 - Lucky Shots in Detail.
Randomly when firing, you may just get a lucky shot. there are 2 types
Both will give you an advantage. (only when lucky shots is on for given
      player)

White Star - Will Shoot up to 5 shots on an 8x8 and 10x10 grid, and
up to 9 shots on a 12x12 grid
             x - 5 Shot x x
            x x x - 9 shot
                          x x
                         x x

Black Star - Only has one shot, but that shot is very powerful. it
will total a ship that it hits, as well as any ships touching that
          ship.
                   _
AAAAA - Aircraft carrier would be destroyed
                      _ P
DAAAAAP - Destroyer, Patrol Boat and aircraft carrier
D be destroyed in this shot. Submarine would
D SSS Survive, because it is not touching the other
                                three ships.

    3.1.3.4 - Aircraft in detail
After about 15 to 30 turns, if the aircraft option is on, the aircraft
would be launched from the aircraft carrier. it is always in one of the
grid cells by the aircraft, that has not been fired at.

        Key A - Aircraft Carrier, f - Grid Cell fired at, a - Aircraft
F - Free cell for aircraft
           ffaFF
fAAAAAF - There are 7 remaining possible spots for the aircraft
           FFFfF

If the aircraft option is on for your opponent, you want to try and
destroy his aircraft carrier before it launches its aircraft.

3.1.3.5 - About the Computer AI levels
All of them have one thing in common. they always shoot on a diagonal
for at least 2 turns, before picking a new spot.
Also, when hitting ships, when it finds 2 points on the ship, it
switches ends till the ship is destroyed, till it misses, or till it
reaches the end, whichever comes first. If the ship is not destroyed,
then it goes to the other end, till the ship is destroyed.

Easy - Shoots at random. If it hits one of your ships, it still shoots
at random, until it has found all but 1 of your ships. It will then
proceed to find the last ship

Medium - Does what easy does, except for when it finds a ship.
When it does find one, it focuses on that ship, till it is destroyed.
then continues to search for ships

Hard - 3-5 shots, one of your ships will be hit. It then focuses on that
       ship till destroyed, pattern repeats.
