Arcade Classic 3 Galaga / Galaxian
Review by Brak
"Good arcade-style fun!"
Galaga and Galaxian are both classic arcade games that are worth playing. They both have the some routine as Space Invaders, yet add a few new elements.
Graphics: 5/10
The graphics were around there with Space Invaders for Gameboy. They were pretty similar to the ones on the arcade, yet they seem pretty dated. Also, these games are also hard to play on a monochrome Gameboy, so this game may not be worth getting if you don't have a Gameboy Color or Super Gameboy.
Sound: 6/10
The sound remains faithful to the arcade games. However, it does tend to lose a little on the Gameboy. The sounds aren't really anything worth listening too, but they don't really get on your nerves that much.
Gameplay: 9/10
Alright! Portable Galaga! In Galaga, aliens fly into the center of the screen (similar to Space Invaders,) and you must shoot em all down. Unlike Space Invaders, they can swoop down at you, and some can even capture your ship. Also unlike Space Invaders, the aliens don't gradually move down to get you. There are bonus stages as well, in which some aliens will fly into the screen at a certain pattern, and then eventually fly back out. You must try to kill as many as you can. The more the better. Galaxian is similar to Galaga, for it's Galaga's prodecessor. You probably won't spend as much time playing this unfortunately, for Galaga has more features. In this game, aliens are lined up, and they move back and forth, but they don't come down to get you. Eventually some of them will swoop down and try to kill you, as well as fire lasers.
The challenge increases gradually for each stage. The first couple of stages for Galaga aren't too hard once you get the hang of it, yet Galaxian seems to always be difficult.
The replay is high, for these games (mostly Galaga) are great games to play again and again!
Overall: 9/10
A fine addition to your library.
