Tetris Attack is a wonderful puzzle game. If you are looking for a puzzle game other than Tetris to waste time on, then this game doesn't dissapoint.
Graphics: 8/10
Unlike some of the other puzzle games on the Gameboy that involve different colored blocks, the blocks are easy to tell apart in this game, for they have a shape on them instead of a color. Great idea! Also, there are a few cool looking characters from the classic Yoshi's Island. Another plus.
Sound: 8/10
I actually liked the sound in this game. The sound effects were kooky, but they weren't annoying. The music in this game was slow and pleasant. It was actually quite fitting ironically, and is actually worthing listening to.
Gameplay: 10/10
This game is great! You must match 3 to 5 blocks of the same pattern together to make them disappear off the playfield. The matches can be vertically or horizontally. You can also make combos, which make you earn bigger points. For example, if you make a match with heart blocks, and there was a star block on top of them that lands on top of 2 more star blocks, that would give you a X2. Like many puzzle games, the speed increases gradually once you get more and more points. The game is somewhat like a backwards version of Dr. Mario in a way, for the matching of the blocks is similar to the matching of the same colored viruses with the pills. However, the blocks don't fall from above in this game, they come out from underneath. You also get bunch of different modes of play to choose from, such as endless, puzzle, and story. The game is so addictive that it should be sold with every Game Boy!
The challenge is variable, depending on what mode you play it on. If it's endless, then the difficulty is impossible, for there is no ending ^_^.
The replay value is high. With all the different modes of play and such addictive gameplay, you'll come back for more!
