"Odd indeed"

INTRO
My first oddworld game I played was on the Xbox. It was great, a little bizarre, but never the less fun and a competitive game. So I figured this retro game from the early game boy games should be good. Like a unique adventure full of surprises. The only thing that happened here was I was surprised. The Oddworld Odyssey died when it hit the Game boy world. They should of left in for the game consoles, they been doing a good job so far.

GAME PLAY
This is where it all starts, from start to finish, you never know whats going on, its like mindless exploring. First level makes some sense cause it guides you to the end. When you reach the cave with all those doors, and decisions to make which torch to lite first, and running around back and fourth, its confusing and frustrating. At least I thought so. Story? What story, I failed to get it, or understand it. It's the same thing over and over run Abe run, lite, and run again, lite again, etc. I think that says more then enough. Abe is the main guy for Oddworld, if some people don't know who this character is by now. The controls, that's just a horror story, you need a joystick for this game, the control pad doesn't quite cut it. The jumping is so bad, you afraid to jump cause you might fall off, to sneak is so hard, cause you need to press the pad at an up ward angle, and if you miss, the paramites wake up and eat you and you die. Then you got to start the level all over again, and you lose all progress. Good luck.

APPEARANCE
Ever hear of out of the frying pan and into the fire? That's exactly what happened here. The graphics and the detail of the characters, and things in this game are really bad; this might get a score of one for me. Abe looks like a stick figure, the paramites, look like little blobs. The Meat sack, had no idea what that was when I fist turned on the game. Its just sad the background is nothing put ledges, and rocks, not much scenery to look at here. The sound? You better off just turning it to mute and leave it like that.

OVERALL
I didn't clear this game, maybe 40%, and that's cause I spend a lot of time wondering and dieing. It's kind of hard to give a game a high score if you didn't care enough to clear it. If other people are die hard Oddworld fans, they might look at this game differently then me. But I'm sorry, I did not enjoy playing this game.
