Hal Wrestling
Review by Ja7482
"A gameboy wrestling game from the creators of firepro!!"
Simply the best wrestling game on any handheld system, Hal Wrestling is more of a landmark wrestling game. Of course the main attraction in Hal Wrestling is the unmatched gameplay it gives you, all the moves were unique for each wrestler, and each wrestler had different strenghs and weaknesses that you would have to be aware of to complete the game. The only sore points of the game were the small graphics and some of the moves would seem to make the wrestlers flicker on and off for a split second, the other was the lack of modes, just two of them which were versus and elimination. Even with mediocre graphics the game manages to bring the ''human'' wrestling experience to the small screen with planchas to the outside, awesome suplexes, gorilla press slams to the outside and very good amount of submissions for the gameboy.
graphics 5/10: not well done, small and lacking any amount of animation, except for when executing moves which saves the graphics rating from being completly horrible.
sound 5/10: for the gameboy it is average, and even though the background music is annoying it never really got in the way.
control 10/10: no wrestling game for the gameboy is even in the same league, unique moves (alot of them) and unique wrestlers make this game worth owning, even holds it's own with many of the first generation snes wrestling games.
replay 7/10: going by modes alone this game would not have recieved a high score, yet the wrestling is always fun and has a very good amount of depth add to the fact that there are 8 selectible wrestlers (a good number for the gameboy)with 1 hidden boss which helps the overall score.
Even though this game is not as well known as other gameboy games it proves itself by being the most in-depth one of them all, even with the dissapointing lack of game modes. I am not sure but this also might be the only global wrestling game released which was designed by human. I actually bought this game twice just cause I lost the first one somewhere. Someday I hope there would be a sequel for one of the best wrestling games around.
Thanks for reading
