Review by Gauntlet Man 99

"HM goes portable!"

Introduction-
I own Harvest Moon for every system and this one lives up to the Harvest Moon Tradition of excellence.

Graphics: 9
Natsume went into good detail with the crops, characters, livestock, and buildings. The graphics are semi-realistic and they're the way I like them, but they're not still
perfect. The coloration changing with the time of day and seasons is a nice touch.

Sound: 9
Harvest Moon GB lacks music variety, but the few songs that it does have are cool and the sound effects are nicely done too. The music gets slightly annoying after hearing it for a while, though.

Play Control: 7
It's hard to line your tools up with what you want to use them on. Jumping over your fences, getting around town, and changing tools isn't exactly what I consider easy, either. Chopping up wood with your axe is extremely hard too.

Replay Value: 10
Harvest Moon for the Game Boy goes on forever, unlike the Super Nintendo Version. At the end of every year your granfather's ghost comes back and rates your progress and if you do good enough he might reward you... If you keep playing people will invent new things, your cows might get sick, or die, and new events will happen. After a very long while though, it does become slightly tiring.

Story: 6
The story is decent. It's about how your grandpa used to own this farm and then one day he just died. His ghost came back in puts you in charge of the farm with the hopes that you'll revive it.

Challenge: 10
You own an old run-down farm and start out with nothing but it and a thousand dollars. You have to bring it back, raise livestock succesfully, and make a good profit out of it all.

Game Design: 10
You own a ranch and you can plant 8 different crops, not including grass, raise cows, chickens, a horse ad a dog or cat. You can pick either a boy or a girl to be and you can choose whether you have a cat or dog. You start out with a small house, a shed with an underground cavern in it with a hot springs, a chicken coop, and a cow pasture. There is a town with 6 differnet stores and a church. It may not sound too great but it is a lot of fun.

Overall: 9
Harvest Moon GB is a cool game with a bunch of extra little bits in it. Out of all three Harvest Moons this is my least favorite but I still love it. Harvest Moon is a must-have and it's rated ''E'' for Everyone.
