WCW: The Main Event

"Quite possibly the coolest wrestling game for the game boy EVER"

My god this game rocks. I bought it at Funcoland for $18, so it was a little expensive, but it's certainly worth it. I've reviewed WWF King of the Ring already, so read that too.
On to the review.
GRAPHICS: 9
These graphics are pretty good. With the exception of Steve Austin and Dustin Rhodes looking alike, the graphics rule. Ron Simmons is very, very, black, but they didn't really have a wide variety of colors. All the wrestlers are very recognizable. *sp* Sting has his face paint. Vader has his mask. Rick Stiener has his varsity wrestling helmet.
SOUND: 5
I don't listen to the music during game boy games most of the time. The music is pretty standard stuff. No entrance themes which is a plus since this is early 90's WCW.
GAMEPLAY: 10
There is a surprisingly large array of moves for a game boy game. One really cool thing is that all you have to do is press select to do your finisher. This is the first gb game with finishers, something the WWF games didn't get until WarZone.
There are 9 wrestlers in this game. They are Rick Rude (R.I.P), Ron Simmons, Sting, Steve Austin, Johnny B. Badd, Dustin Rhodes, Vader and the Stiener Brothers. Ric Flair might have been nice, and there are a couple others as well. (Cactus Jack, Brian Pillman)
You can do all the moves easily, and the game moves at a very fast pace. I played a 15 minute match as Vader against Ron Simmons and it ended up at 12 falls to 11, with me winning just barely. There's about a fall a minute. You can go outside the ring and do some nice stuff from up top.
REPLAY VALUE: 9
It's sort of easy, but it's addicting even after you finish it. There are 2 modes, single match, or an ''elimination'' match where you fight everyone. There are also three different skill levels. The two easy ones are really easy, and the hard one is pretty easy too.
This game would probably be cool with 2 people, but I can't find another cart so that I could play it with a friend. If anyone has one that they want to get rid of, please let me know, I might but it.
OVERALL: 9
I dont know about GBC No Mercy yet, but right now this is my favorite GB wrestling game. I'm doing revues of every wrestling game ever on GB, and maybe some others. Be sure to look for them!
