Kirby's Dream Land
Review by Last Avenger
"I love good ol' Kirby!"
You know what? For some reason, I really like this game. I don't care that it's a side-scroller and that it is short and easy. It's just plain old fun. See why.
GRAHPICS: 9/10
I have a color Gameboy, so they're improved automatically. The enemy designs are really good, and I personally thought the backgrounds and such were quite good. Like you can see water escaping out of a chute, and mountains in the distance of Castle Lololo. Kirby is loveable and cute (gag<>belch<>cough<>cough) but in reality it's true. I don't know. I'm just soft-hearted, I guess.
SOUND/MUSIC: 10/10
This game has almost as much sound effects as Link's Awakening. Kirby has a sucking noise, jumping noise, dying noise, 1-up noise, and so on.
The music is good. I really like it, in fact. The tunes are all nice and happy, and really brightens your day (as opposed to A Bug's Life whose music was stupid.) The boss music is just right, in my opinion.
CONTROL: 10/10
Really easy to learn and master. You can do it in less than a minute. A jumps. B sucks in and spits out enemies. Up makes Kirby suck in air and fly, Down makes him duck, and the sides make him run left and right. Really easy to learn, as I said a few sentences ago.
STORY: 6/10
The evil King Dedede takes over Kirby's homeworld, and builds a castle, stealing all the Kirbys' food. Our heroic Kirby journeys through his perilous dream land to put an end to Dedede and his evil ways. Not edge-gripping, but it's an action game, so there.
GAMEPLAY: 10/10
Simple, but fun. Find an enemy, suck him in. See another one, spit the enemy back out as a powerful long range star that knocks them out immediately. Then, you see an obstacle you can't jump over. So you just fly! See some water? Don't worry, Kirby is a good swimmer.
That really describes all you do. Sounds easy, and is, but you know, it's a short little game to whittle away those long hours. I've played it at least 20 times and I never get tired of it. Don't ask my why; I just don't.
CHALLENGE: 8/10
Despite being easy, I like it a lot. Must just be me, though.
OVERALL: 10/10
I really like this game, and the sad part is I can't really back it up with facts. If you're a T- and M rated games fan, you won't like this, but for more reserved and shy people, this game is perfect. Fare thee well.
