After Burst

"Nice addictive Puzzle-Shooter"
Well, when you see this game at first you won't get the idea that you'll find yourself playing this game for a long time. But nothing is less true. All right, I gave this game 'only' a 7, because it could've been worked out a bit better. The idea behind this game is just to solve puzzle kind of levels with some... space man. With this astronaut (if you can call it that way) you have to shoot other astronauts, space ships and avoid mines bombs and aliens (if it are aliens, I'm not sure :). At the end of a level (which is just one screen). You have to shoot some kind of ball, seems like the thing you have to hit and then there come out squirts and other animals in the Sonic series on the Sega. Then the level is finished. You get an amount of time at the start of the level (1 min, 2 min and so on) within you have to reach the ball thing.
What I like in the game are the short levels, most of them only take 2 minutes to play (that's the max. time actually), but when you have completed some levels, it's beginning to get really difficult, so you should pause the game first and look how you have to finish this level, the main point in this game is puzzling, not shooting, although without it you won't come very far.
Graphics 6.4/10
Not too good, neither they are bad. For a puzzle game it is necessary that you can overview the whole situation, that has be done good, but to say that the video is spectacular, no. It's all a bit too easy. Your main character has been made good, his moves are worked out (the only moves he got are shooting and jumping, but ok).
Gameplay 8.2/10
This game really feels good to your hands. It's just how you like a puzzle game to be, but this game is also a shooter and sometimes it's very hard to actually hit your opponent. This is caused by the time you press the 'B' button, the longer you hold it, the farther is will shoot your ''laser''. Sometimes this is a bit hard. Jumping and walking are just very good worked out, you won't every irritate to the gameplay. You have my word on it.
Originality 5.9/10
Of course, there are made quite some games that look a bit like this one. But the combination of puzzling and shooting is not very often tried out, so this game brings some original parts in itself. At least, I've never really seen such a combination, and I think this is very well worked out. Like most puzzle games you have to beat some enemies (Goof Troop, Donkey Kong original). But this space kind, is really funny.
Replayability 6.5/10
Because there is a time limit to this game, the replayability will improve by one point for sure. Now you can complete the game at first. And after that you can try to improve you times (and maybe look who of your friends is THA MASTA).
As you all will see, the average of all these numbers is 7, and that is (well, 6,725 is the same) very good for such a (rather old) gameboy game. You must not compare this one to newer GBC puzzles because the score will drop for sure. Especially for on holidays or long car trips this game will be played for a long time and is really worth the price.
