Kirby's Dream Land
Review by LMouth
"How Could Anyone Ever Get Tired Of KIRBY!!!!!"
Well our little balloon type friend is here with a nice platformer for the Game Boy.
Story-
Arggg could it get any simpler. Kirby runs around and eats things and throws them at other people and every once and a while fights a boss or a mini boss. Its more for fun and not story.
Gameplay-
Pretty fun game. Very simple though. You go and eat things and fire them at other things and you can also puff up and fly and the air you used to fly can also be a weapon. The bosses are pretty cool ideas and some of the extras like spit fire and invincibility are cool. The one flaw is that its just too simple. It is very very possible to go through the entire game without losing any ounce of life what so ever. Whats good also is that some enemies require actually thinking because if you try to suck them us the come after you and blow up or some of them shoot stuff at you and you have to dodge that. Another thing is no enemies look that bad. Even the hardest enemies looked like lovable stuffed animals.
Controls-
very simple. You had your suck up technique used to suck up enemies and your jump button then you press up to float and directional buttons for movement. You can also duck witch actually can come in handy in some boss battles.
Music-
Now this I liked. Very cool music. It's kind of a silly, kid type music but heck thats what kirby is. And their was themes for specials like for invincibility their was a song and for you spit fire their was a different music.
Graphics-
Come on. It's Game Boy. No FMVs or 3D environments here. Just good old Kirby and your enemies. Backgrounds were cool although sometimes it was just reduced to the clouds or water.
Fun Factor-
Now this is where the game shines. I think everybody can find fun in spitting out enemies onto other enemies. Its just fun. Its a little short time waster. Good for those long trips sitting in a car or an airplane. I know thats what i use it for. Its also cool for just hanging out. But if you like long drawn out games that need strategy. This isn't for you. Also if your not a fan of Nintendos Yoshi type games aimed towards kids you won't like this either.
Don't spend to much on this game. I'd say anywhere from $2-$15
