Baseball
Review by Wild Gunman
"Strike 3!! You're OUT!!"
This game is actually one of the first games on the Gameboy. The developers at Nintendo thought that they might want to convert their classic Baseball game from the NES to Gameboy so in true developer's speech, ''can take it wherever you go!!!!'' They even put Mario's face on the cover to attract people. Well, this is a fine idea, just one problem, the game is no short of rubbish.
You start up the game and it lets you choose 1 player or 2 player, letting you link up with another Gameboy. You then choose which season you want: USA or Japan. Then you choose one team out of TWO, count them, two teams, the White Bears or the Red Eagles. Then you choose your pitcher and you're off!
Playing againest the computer is, a nightmare. You are outclassed by the computer and you have absolutely no chance of winning. Primarily because every time you hit the ball, they always catch it! And Home Runs are really, really rare. Not to mention that when you are the fielding team, if one player moves, so does the rest of the team. Its utter crap!
And if I'm really being picky, the graphics are not good. So this is the game boy, I know, but someone could put a tiny bit more effort into the graphics.
The sound is okay, with the music being decent and the sound is too, but it just isn't enough. This is a pure waste of money.
Those wondering how I got this trash in the first place is because I loved the game on the NES because you could actually win, and I thought that on the GameBoy it will be just as good, but I was really disappointed with it. I was so frustrated I threw it out and got Alleyway instead, which is alot better.
Baseball is horrible. The computer is hard to beat, there are only two teams available, there aren't any other modes available and the game is not much fun to play in two player mode either. Okay, so this is the gameboy we are talking about, and you have to expect stuff like this, but honestly, it could be a lot better. If the developers lowered the difficulty down a little bit, it would be a decent play and it would be worth at least a 7/10. But it isn't and it shows. Gamers today expect, and deserve, better.
