Harvest Moon GB

"Pretty addicting....Bad graphics, though"

I'm going to start off by saying that Natsume has made some pretty good games, and Harvest Moon seems to be the most popular series. But this game is lacking some strong points so it's not the best. Don't base your opinion of Natsume and its games on this one.

Story 9/10

Your grandfather has just died. You, the farmer(male or female, it doesn't alter the story that much from gender to gender), must take the farm, get rid of the weeds, rocks, and other things because your grandpa did a pretty bad job of taking care of the farm, and also, he's been dead for two years. Your goal is to make the farm prosperous once again within two years, but you can keep going after that. Your grandpa will come down from heaven after every year to see what you have done. If he approves of your work, he will give you more land amongst other things. Pretty good story if you ask me.

Controls 8/10

For a Game Boy game, the controls are pretty good. Up is up, down is down, etc. B is run and pick up things, and A is just there for the heck of it really, though it does let the conversation you are having with someone keep going. Select changes items that you have on you, and Start lets you call your dog or cat or horse, and enters your Memo. You stop time from going by going into a building. Pretty basic.

Graphics 6/10

This is where the game lacks. Everything is flat. That's basically the extent of it. Flat, flat, flat.

Sound 4/10

Not much in this department. You will hear rain, a hurricane, you running, and a ''ding'' sound when you change items. Pretty basic.

Music 3/10

I hate this music. I mean, it's okay the first couple of days, but after that, it gets pretty bad. I take that back. Really bad. If the music changed more than every season, I might actually like it.

Replay Value 7/10

It's fun to start the game over with a different farmer of a different gender with everything different. But after you play it again for a while, things get boring again.

Overall 8/10

I gave this game an 8 mainly because it should have been better. But hey, it could have been worse too, huh?

Rent or Buy?

I would seriously recommend you buy this game. It's good. You will get addicted to it. There is no way you can't. Buy it.
