"It is not Sword of Hope..."
I will be honest with you... this game is one of the good type of rpgs on Gameboy of course... but still the fact is sometimes people try to make sequels to games... and they CHANGE FAR TOO MUCH, and they left much too little of the old Sword of Hope type of style of play. This is nothing compared to Sword of Hope the FIRST.
First of all... the BATTLE scenes, they changed it far too much. The fact is the first person view was updated by using certain moves differently than Sword of Hope, and the controls were also different. The fact is with Sword of Hope II, the only good thing about it is that it is not as hard of a game such as Sword of Hope, but that is what MADE the Sword of Hope game so GOOD, the DIFFICULTY... to allow you to want to continue to play!
I have played much better rpgs than this game mind you, and this is not one of the worst, but one of the okay-fairish games I have ever played...
By the way, if you may have noticed when you use the controls, it is A LOT easier to move your characters around now, by just pressing up, down, right, left etc ... and other moves and choosing action moves with the A and B button, they have been much improved... but I know you may say its alot easier and better now with that... but the old Sword of Hope did so well with that type of play that Sword of Hope II would have done better with it.
Since Sword of Hope II did not gain the true statue as Sword of Hope did, I hope all the people who have played these two games understand why now... after reading this review. Anyway, on with the ratings.
Graphics: 2%
Words: Terrible graphics, some of the worst I have ever seen on a gameboy game. I do not know what these people were thinking, you can barely see where you are going in a cave, the monsters you fight and your characters... first of all, YOU BARELY EVEN SEE, and if you do, they look HIDEOUS.
Sound: 5%
Words: Terrible sound, the same, blasted repetitive music and sound effects every time you play.
Replay: 0%
Words: To me, I have had no replay value in this game, not a speck.
Gameplay: 76%
Words: This is a big thing either way, the easy controlling the characters are a bit easier now, which makes the gameplay much better and not as much as a drag to learn everything... but is that a good thing? OR a bad thing? You know what I think!
Story: 0%
Words: Story...? You know, this is by far the worst storyline I ever saw. It is so bad I will not even recite it to you.
Characters: 7%
Words: The monsters were terrible, your own characters were terrible...
Final Words: This is indeed a shame... compared to the Sword of Hope, this is disasterous. I would prefer Sword of Hope the FIRST than Sword of Hope II on any day of the week. But either way, Sword of Hope II is a rare game ALSO, just like Sword of Hope, but not AS rare. I suggest you try to find it if you like easier, rpg, first person view games.
