Super Mario Land

"Poorest excuse for a Mario game"
This has got to be the most disappointing Mario game I have ever played. It's just...ugh. I am truly sorry I wasted 20 bucks on this game. It doesn't even work as a paperweight!
Gameplay: 4
This game is so, well, non-Mario in my opinion. First of all, there are only 16 levels, 4 in each world. Super Mario from NES had 32, and Super Mario 3 from NES had well over 50, so why does this Gameboy version only get 16? Another gripe is that they are way too short. Each level takes 30 seconds to about 2 minutes. This means you can finish the game in about half an hour. But wait! There's a bonus game after you beat it, and it's exactly the same as the regular! Wow! Do you want to know why you wouldn't even bother? I'll tell you anyway, the levels are horribly repetitive. Levels seem to be no different from the one following or preceding it. There's even repetitiveness in a single level! It's like passing the same door, table, and lamp a million times in a cartoon, only this goes on throughout all the levels.
Sound/Music: 3
Do you know what goes great with horribly repetitive levels? Horribly repetitive music. There is barely any sound, either. Jump, stomp....jump....stomp, jump....fall, die...stomp cartridge.
Graphics: 1
The graphics just sicken me. I'm pretty sure the Gameboy could handle better graphics than this. This is just poor quality. Everything is tiny. Mario is tiny, mushrooms are tiny, enemies are tiny, everything is tiny. Nothing is well detailed, either. Mario looks terrible. There is no background images whatsoever. Everything just plainly sucks.
Story: 3
I have no idea who Princess Daisy is, but Mario's rescuing her...I guess. Bowser plays no role in here, but the evil one is...Tootunga...Tatunga...something weird name like. Anyway, he kidnaps Princess Daisy, and Mario must go rescue her. That's about the gist of it. I'm glad they actually turned away from the traditional ''Save Princess Toadstool from Bowser'' for once. The problem is, how much different is ''Save Princess Daisy from Tatunga''?
Replayability: 1
I'm sorry, but once you've played through the game once you've actually played it about 20 times, since it's so repetitive (ironic...there's that word again).
Overall: 2
Yes, this abomination is, overall, the poorest excuse for a Mario game I have ever laid my eyes on. I feel sorry for anyone who paid money for this game (who also hate it). Maybe they should've tried a little bit harder, and maybe it would have been much more enjoyable.
