Another Bible
Review by Ultimaflare99
"Decent game, play it if you have some time to burn"
Another Bible is part of the Megami Tensei series, of Persona fame. It is distantly related to Revelations: The Demon Slayer.
Story - 3/10
Story, What Story? Most of the story is contained in the intro. There was once a huge war between mankind and the beasts. Disaster was averted, and the world settled into peace. However, the beast cult suddenly appears and threatens to ignite war again. Now your orphaned character is off the save the world. Also there is little character development. Characters simply join your party as you go killing monsters by the thousands. While there is almost no plot development in the beginning, it starts to pick up somewhat in the middle.
Gameplay - 6/10
The Gameplay is more or less decent. Battles are done on a grid. The game is also pretty easy. The draw of Another Bible is the monster collection. Monsters below to a certain family and ''evolve'' as they game experience, like Pokemon. When levels are gained, stats points are assigned. However aside from that, there is little room for customizing as the game only allows you to have 1 monster per family. You can't form a death squadron of Anantas to fly around and burn everything to a crisp. Basically you cast spells, heal & attack. Oh, yeah play this game on an emulator, as it can be really slow without frame skipping.
Graphics/Audio - 5/10
The music isn't all that great, but neither is it all that annoying. The graphics on the other hand, can be pretty bad. The icons on the battle field map, and blocky, and any detail is hard to make out. Battle animations, are fairly good, reminiscent of Pokemon again. If you can play this game on Super GameBoy, than do so.
Control: 9/10
The game is pretty easy to control. There aren't an excess of menus. There was some initial annoyance in the battle preparation menu, with the B button restarting all my preparation over again when I pressed it one more time than necessary.
Replay Value: 8/10
Fairly easy, but unless you use a walkthrough, odds are you'll be missing a lot of secrets, and be forced to replay it over again just to get them.
Overall 7/10
It's a solid game, considering it was made for the GameBoy. Play it if you have some time to burn.
Buy or Rent?
Since this game is in Japanese, Good Luck renting it. You'll have to buy it off of Ebay or something, then transfer it to your computer or download the rom, and apply Gideon Zhi's patch to play it in English.
