Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III
Review by Desert eagle
"Best TMNT game in Gameboy yet....."
I have been a TMNT fan when I was a kid, watching their cartoons, reading their comics, playing their games as well buying their figurines. I have play all their game releases from nintendo to Super nintendo to Sega Mega drive. Yeah, I admit I used to be quite a fan of these turtles.
The game's great as it is the third installment to the TMNT series for Gameboy. I stayed up late at night and play this game daily to improve as this game is quite long. My favourite turtle is always Leonardo as he's the leader of the team. The more I play this game, the more I like it as it's quite challenging.
Story plot:
Well, the story is like this. One day, Mike came hoe and found out that all his close pals have been caught by Sherreder and decided to make an attempt to rescue them. So he went off and search for them then slowly the plot unfolds from here. Along the way, you will need to beat enemies and the bosses to get keys to rescue your pals from the jail cell and finally meet your nemesis, Sherreder.
Game play:
You start off with Mike, and then beat off enemies and some villains like Rock steady to have a key each for him to save all his pals including his master Splinter in the jail cell they are in. I like especially Raf's special move, turn into a turtle shell!! The others are also great to me.
The game has some innovative ways to make you like the game, like some new moves added to each turtle after you rescue each of them and have greatly improve from TMNT 2.
There are new enemies and bosses like bats to keep you entertain and keep you glued to the game. The game also shows you a map of where you are and let you know where you should go and so on.
Of course, there are always pizzas for health refill!! In this game unlike the TMNT and TMNT 2, you can take an extra pizza as an extra life in case you are dead.
Unlike TMNT 2, there are no rescue missions for you for TMNT 3. When one turtle is defeated, the game's over.
Controls:
Controls are easy to learn, as there are only two buttons which you can adapt fast easily. You are also able to select the entire area map which also easy to learn.
Difficulty:
The game's very long as you need to rescue all your friend and meet your final nemesis Sherreder in the end. As you need to get experience enough to survive in this game as there are some traps can can cause your life. All the bosses and enemies are tough to beat and you will need to play long to improve to get better.
The most difficult part is beating Sherreder towards the end of the game as you face all the bosses before you face him and you need to do well against them. After surviving them, Sherreder is the hardest to beat among all of them before you beat the game.
Video:
Well, there's not much to comment here, as the screen in Gamebo is black and white. But the game's surroundings are great and the game map is quite large. The pizzas' graphics are quite real as well as the enemies' graphics look quite okay to me. But it can always also can be improve better in for the next installment.
Audio:
The game music theme is great, especially the theme when you are saving your pals. The game's items gain sound effect is also great. Overall, the sound effects and the game music is okay and looks promising and also can be improve.
Replay Value:
Great game to play, but once you complete the game, there's not much to play for. But, the game's quite long and quite difficult so this game will take you quite a while before you complete this game as you play to improve. But I hope this area will improve though.
Why do you buy or rent this game?
Well, because the game's challenging and some new things are added to the game. The game's fun if you are action type of player or a TMNT fan. If you are new to the game, try it because it's one of the best games that is in the Gameboy.
