Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge
Review by MT0
"This Game Works Only If You Have Nothing Else To Do."
Gameplay - 5/10 -
The classic gameplay you'd expect from an original title. ''A'' is jump, ''B'' is to fire whatever weapon you're currently using. It's alright, and it gets the job done, but it's nothing special. There's nothing unique to it, but it gets the job done, so it gets an average score. The lack of various weapons don't interest as me in some of the other titles with more levels.
Story - 5/10 -
Also, the classic story of the lot of MegaMan titles. You have to battle Dr. Wiley's various robots created for evil, and then at the end, you have to go through his level. There's no real actual ''story'' involved. You're just told what your mission is, and you have to do it. So, this is only average, nothing special at all.
Graphics and Music - 5/10 -
The graphics are the simple, dot matrix, shades of gray. They aren't anything special, and they're just an average producer of what the ''GameBoy'' portable console can do. The music is like a whole bunch of midi files. There's one for each level, and they loop through the whole time. When you get to the boss of the level, they seem to be very similar, and thus very boring. Neither graphics nor audio is very enticing here.
Replayability - 7/10 -
This game should only be played if you have nothing to do. You could replay it by fighting the levels in different orders, thus with different weapons and different advantages. That's the only real plus this game has. In that, you can make it interesting if you're bored. But even so, this dies really quickly, and it doesn't keep me happy for very long. This is clearly only an above average plus, A ''B,'' but certainly not an ''A.''
Buy or Rent? - Rent -
Rent this game. If you're not able to beat it on the first try, then you should just remember your password and then rent it again. By the time you've played it through the first two or more rents, you're tired of it. If you complected the game or not. You're probably only better off buying this game, if you have no other console, or other games. Or, if you don't have a more modern version of the Nintendo Gameboy.
Final Thoughts -
I believed that this game was good for keeping my attention the first week or two I've had it, and then I just play it whenever I get bored on a road trip or such. It's just an alternative I can have if I'm tired or something else. It's only an average game, but it occupies my attention. But it all depends on your opinion. Rent it first, if you're absolutely in love with it, purchase it. That's all there is to it.
