Yoshi's Cookie
Review by Hackmast
"This is one bad cookie!"
Mario+Yoshi use to be a good team. Until Yoshi's Cookie, where they became fools. When Nintendo released this poor excuse of a Tetris type game, it made Yoshi and Mario look bad. Though it is different, matching different types of cookies up, so you can score major points, but the fun of a Mario type brand game isn't there. It's called Yoshi's Cookies, why is Mario there?
Graphics: 4/10
Alright, for a Game Boy game, this game had pretty fairly good graphics at the time. Kind of detailed, but not so much, that they kept the background the same the whole game, leaving me looking at a brownish background, while I match cookies. They could of put something different ever time the difficulty rose. No, you just had to keep it boring didn't you Nintendo. Well what could I expect from a Game Boy Game.
Story: 1/10
Matching cookies up, people chasing you for a little intro scenes to the next difficulty. Alright, to be honest I didn't suspect much of a story from a game that was trying to be like Tetris. At least they could of gave you a reason why they were matching up cookies. To send them off to little girl scouts? No one will ever know.
Control: 4/10
The controls was the best part. Easy, basic, and plain. You don't twist, and flip like in Tetris, you just swap where the cookies go, by up and down, and left and right. The controls remind me much of Tetris. At least it was easier to move your parts, than Tetris.
Gameplay: 2/10
Tetris is a game that no one should rip-off, because everyone that has, has did a bad job, including this one. I respect Nintendo for trying to make one, but it just didn't work, there was no fun, the only thing there was for this puzzle game, was the challenge. The Mario & Yoshi idea about making cookies, could of been way better if they didn't try to make it into a Tetris game.
Sound/Music: 3/10
The music is very bad. Not good quality at all. Most games like this have music that will keep you hooked, this one has music that will kill you. The sound is ok, but could of used some work.
Replay Value: 4/10
The reason this game is worth playing again, is for it's challenge. It get's really hard the further you go, I thought it would be easy my self, but I warn you it's not. So you get addicted into trying to getting further and further, and getting higher points than you ever could.
Overall: 3/10
It could of been better, but it wasn't. So can't do anything about that now. Alright Nintendo, I don't know where you went wrong. You seem to make good games all the time, but you trying to rip-off a Tetris. I expect better of you. Mario & Yoshi looked like fools in this game, you even made cookie's look lie fools. If you like rip-off Tetris games, get Yoshi Cookie.
