Paperboy

Review by Grey

"A VERY unique game for the Gameboy..."

First off, I think most people know that Paperboy is a very famous game for the GameBoy. I think it's a very unique game, which makes it so fun to play again and again. I guess this is what Nintendo thought, because they came out with Paperboy 2.

Graphics: 8/10

This is the best graphics as your going to get for the GameBoy. The houses and the people are detailed enough so you can avoid them, and the mailboxes are visible. The game runs very smoothly for a GameBoy game, but sometimes the graphics can cheat on you. (I had dog chase after me the whole time on level 1, which is not supposed to happen). Nintendo did a nice job with the graphics on the game.

Music and Sound: 6/10

This is probably the weakest spot in the game. The sound starts off harmlessly, but the theme music keeps repeating and repeating, which really annoys me. When you nail the paper into the mailbox, it makes this strange sound. The music is bearable, but will distract you from the gameplay. Trust me, this isn't the worst sound I have ever heard.

Replay Value: 9/10

The replay value for Paperboy is extremely good. The levels and the obstacle course make this a game you will want to play again and again. Just the thrill of having the whole street subscribe to your paper is fun enough. It's the challenge and excitement that makes it great. The only point I didn't like was when your riding on the bike and you got an open manhole and a car coming at you. It's just a no-win situation. Nintendo did a great job putting the popular NES game onto a hand-held system.

Gameplay: 8/10

The whole point of the game drags people on. I have lots of fun just putting those papers in the box and making damage. The game doesn't need a huge plot (accept when you arrest… oh, I won't give it away if you haven't played). The whole game isn't just putting papers in boxes and dodging cars. You have to find paper refills and get points for finishing the obstacle course. What makes it so it isn't easy is that you have to focus on the road and the mailbox on the same time. This is what makes it one of the better GameBoy games Nintendo has made.

Overall: 8/10

Overall if you have a Gameboy, go spend the 15 bucks and get an awesome game in Paperboy. This classic is worth the price. That you Nintendo and Atari Games for making it!
