In Your Face

"Fun? no. Boring? yes"
I'm a big basketball fan, so I decided to pick this game up at my local pawn shop, little did I know I was in for a surprise. The game is basically street basketball, you can choose to play 1 on 1 or 2 on 2 depending on your style. There's 4 players to choose from, none of them have stats so you can choose randomly. The pace of the game moves relatively slow compared to other game boy basketball games. There's no career mode, so its just you against the same team over and over again.
The game is not fun, there's no fun about it. Its too short, and the game moves too slow. Its a real challenge, you rarely score, and no matter how much practice you put into the game, the computer can always one up you. There's no difficulty settings so you're stuck with the challenge. The defense in this game is just horrible. Apparently, computer characters can shoot from half court and sink it even if you're guarding them, but when you get an open shot, good luck if you make it. The offense is just too slow to keep you entertained. Its just not fun when you only have one teammate to pass to. Plus, there's no lay ups or dunks just the same jump shot over and over.
The camera is decent, you get a nice view of each players back head. The only problem is that's its very difficult to see you teammate because the court is huge!
The game is just so slow. When you shoot the ball, you have to wait about 5 seconds before you find out if it goes in or not. The players move sluggishly, but yet the computer players seem to move at an incredibly speed.
There's no replay to this game what so ever. The game is just too repetitive. There's no ''career'' mode not even a tournament mode. Why? because there's only 4 characters to choose from! Also, the game is just too frustrating. I wouldn't recommend this game on the count that you might throw your game boy at the wall because its just too frustrating. I don't know if the developers of Jaleco were shooting to tick you off, or are just plain stupid.
It's a game boy game, the controls aren't really hard to pick up on. To clarify that, the controls are sweet, that's about the only ''plus'' to this game. The sound of the game is the same song over and over again.
There's not enough in this game for me to recommend it. There's no fun to this game, the movement is sluggish, there's no replay, and worst yet, it is too hard. For 3 dollars? I'd say pick it up, just to laugh at how incredibly lame this game really is.
