Kirby's Dream Land 2
Review by Pneuma
"This is one fun game!!"
Nintendo's cute creampuff of fun is back!
Kirby, who has appeared on the GameBoy, the NES, the SNES, and even made a cameo in the N64 game Super Smash Bros., made his first game debut in 1992 on the GameBoy game, Kirby's Dreamland.
The game was a huge success, and part of that success is due to the fact that it was made by the legendary game programmer Shigeru Miyamoto, who is the creator of Mario, Donkey Kong, and Link (from the Legend of Zelda). This sequel was also made in part by Mr. Miyamoto, and it, like the first Kirby game, is truly great.
Gamers seem to like Kirby because, for one thing, he is very different from any of Nintendo's other characters. He flies. He slides. He can inhale enemies and spit them out. He can steal an enemy's power. He can also use different animal friends that all have their own special abilities. And to top it off, you can combine your animal's power with an enemy's power for even more fun. Kirby's Dream Land 2 is a game that will suck you in faster than Kirby himself.
Because there are so many options and ways you can mix different powers together, this game will reel you in and never let you go until you've beaten the final boss. Gameplay is fairy simple, except when you try to find the hidden Rainbow Drops, which are needed to fight the final boss. Sometimes figuring out how to obtain a Rainbow Drop will mean using many different powers and animal friends.
This is only a GameBoy game, but the graphics are very good. The levels are all very different from each other, so the game never gets boring. And some of those 8-bit sound tracks can really get stuck in your head.
The only problem I found with this game is the fact that the last boss, Dark Matter, is just way too hard. I consider myself a gaming professional, but I've tried again and again to defeat him and failed every time. Still, if you have a GameBoy, I highly recommend getting this game. Good job, Nintendo, on yet another awesome game!
