Tetris
Review by Cu_Pimp
"Quite frankly, the best puzzle game ever made!"
If you haven't heard of this game, then maybe you've been living under a rock for the past decade. This game is the mother of all puzzle games. Created by some russian genius, this game will not fail to have you sitting in front of your game boy for hours on end. There have been many sequels, variations, and clones of this game, but I beleive this is the best one so far. This game has many options and modes of play, perhaps the best of which is the 1-on-1 cable link play, which pits you against a friend (or foe) to see who is the true gamer.
Controls: (9 out of 10)
The controls are tight, with reactions appearing on the screen instantly after you execute them with a button press. Also, the controls are simple. The directional pad is used to move the block that is currently on the play feild, while the A and B buttons are used to rotate the block either clockwise or counter-clockwise. You are able to slide the blocks in under one another at the last second.
Graphics: (7 out of 10)
The graphics are nothing to cream your pants about, but they are still decent for such an old game, not to mention it is a puzzle game for game boy. There isn't really much to talk about here, so I will move on to the next category.
Sound: (9 out of 10)
The sound is superb for a game boy game, with a sound effect for almost everything. There is a selection of 3 different songs, all of which are pretty catchy and often get stuck in people's heads.
Gameplay: (10 out of 10)
This title has tons of replay value and is indeed unbeleivably an original gaming experience. This game is the first of its kind and has revolutionized, let me rephrase that, single handedly created the puzzle genre. Although the gameplay is simplistic, it does call for good thinking and quick reflexes. Not many people have beaten this game so you have huge bragging rights if you do.
