"Classic stereo type reenforcing selfasteem destroying sexist platform fun with Barbie! Yay!"

This game does have redemable features though and is a fun game.

Game Play 4/10
This game is hard. It is your classic platform jumping enemy avading side scrolling levels, with under water mermaid levels in beetween. But it's very hard. Partialy due to the size and graphics if the Game Boy and the controlls, but still some level are designed pretty thoughly. I'm stuck in the Piano Level!!!! Yes I have been playing gmaes like this for the last 15 years and I can't beat this game. It's fun. but it's hard.
The game would seem to be marketed torwds younger players so it is unfortunet that it would be too frusterating for many of them.

Story 0/10
I don't have the manuel, so as far as I know there is no story. The first level is Barbie jumping through a mall.
A Mall? This is not good because it will teach young players to be superfishal. And I find it sexist.''Girls at the mall''=stereo type! Bad!
But third levels the problem! Barbie must run and jump through a resturant and avoid comming into contact with FENCH FRIES!!!!!!! Now while french fries may not be the healthiest food on the planet they certainly will not hurt you. I think this level could send a harmfull phycological message to young players and incurage the development of an eating disorder!
Young people need lots of fats and carbohydrates to grow and be healthy and Frech fries should not be avoided!
Anyways the story is non-existent.

Controls 3/10
The controls are good enough in the early levels but later when you must make faster and more precise jumps they become very frusterating.

Graphics 5/10
The graphics are good for a Game Boy game and Barbie's character model looks very very nice. Except for her nose.
Barbie has a pointy long pino-kee-O nose which stands out greatly. I think they must have designed her to not have a nose and then a superviser came up and said :WHere's her nose?''
''you don't need to see her nose cuz it's a game boy game and......''
''Npoe she needs a nose! I wana see a nose nice and clearly!''
And thus barbie got a big pointy nose.

Sound 3/10
The music and effects are okay and there's some neat parts like a ''Jaws'' like theme when you are near sharks and such.

In Closing
It's an alright game for older players who just want to give it a try but I would avoide giving it to younger players.
