The Game Boy Pocket

This was my first gameboy. I got it because of the pokemon craze. It is a nice little system that fits in your pocket nicely unlike the big bulky old ones. It had the biggest screen for a Gameboy until of course the GBA. The buttons were laid out nicely and you even had a sound and contrast adjusters! Now for the categories.

Graphics 6/10
Let me tell you, they weren't perfect. It had four shades of grey (wow) and the sprites blurred a lot. The only reason it gets a decent score is because of the big screen. The screen was about half the size of the system, and had the biggest screen until the GBA.

Sound 6/10.
The sound was scratchy but it was pretty powerful. It wasn't just bleeps and bloops it could play music of some sort. The sound affects were uninteresting though.

Controls 9/10
Well it’s just like the nes controllers. There's your control pad, A and B buttons and start and select. It wasn't a pain to hold either.

Game Library 8/10
Let me tell you there were tons of great games, and tons of bad games. When nintendo wanted to shine it shined. There was thousands of games out for this system! Good games include, Pokemon series, wario land series, Final fantasy legend 3, and James Bond. Beware of Bad games, just make sure you rent before you buy any GameBoy games or read reviews. Stay away from any two bit game makers for any system.

Life 7/10
It had tons of life. I would play it for hours! I think I played this more than any other system for a copple of months. Then I got a GBA, and I haven't touched it since. Poor GBP.

Battery Life. 5/10
Triple AAA's don't last long, but GBP managed to get 3 hours out of them, not bad for a handheld. By the way it had two AAA were in a GBP.

Strength 10/10
Nintendo is known to make good sturdy handhelds. I threw mine across a room into a wall and it still worked perfectly! I also dropped it many times!

Final Line.
So it was an improvement from the first Gameboys, as it was smaller and had a bigger screen. I had fun with it, but it nowhere compares with the GBA. Don’t get it now get a GBASP because this system is now obsolete. It was fun while it lasted.
