Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of the Foot Clan
Review by Braben
"Too ridiculously short and easy."
Konami’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the Nes were so good that when I saw this game on one of my friend’s house I immediately borrowed it. But what I was not expecting was to give it back before I went back home.
Fall of the Foot Clan is a bit more like the very first Turtles game for the Nes (that one everyone hates) because it is more a traditional side-scrolling action game. Pick a turtle and advance killing Foot Clan minions, little robots, and some pitfalls like boulders or enemies over motorcycles, which can be easily destroyed with just one blow and that is basically all, there is a boss at the end of each stage and so on. But there is nothing wrong with this right?, well, no, but the gameplay is incredibly boring, once you have beaten a scenarios you have seen everything the game has to offer, because they are all the same, then our turtle heroes REALLY move little turtles, because they are some of the slowest characters I have ever seen in a video game. Their movements are very standard, punch, flying kick, and jump, the only interesting thing here is that when they crouch they throw ninja stars, but everything is just way too monotonous.
Something unbelievably bad and stupid is that the lets you choose the scenario you want to star with, so instead of one hour you can finish the game in five minutes. This is something developers usually do when they know they have programmed a cheap game.
The graphics are pretty good I have to admit, the enemies are specially well designed, but the movements are very bad, the enemies barely move, they just rise their arms and try to pass over you, and the same happens with our turtle’s attacks, they are ridiculous, they hit like those old women from the movies, those when a thief tries to steal their bag, fail, and then the poor grannies try to defend herself (because no one is in the mood for help) with that same bag hitting the guy in a very stupid way.
The music get very annoying, it is very simple and doesn’t make any sense because it is made with just horrible beeps and bleeps.
I have never ever played a game so easy and short, well, maybe, but this is definitely pushes those two adjectives to the limit. You will spend more time playing that Solitary game Windows came with than with this game. As a game it may not be a total disaster, but it is not worth even five bucks, if are a turtles freak borrow it from somewhere for free (I wouldn’t even rent it). I don’t know what was Konami thinking when they made this game, really, it is very bad, even for turtle and Konami fans, and I know it because I am one of them.
”My lack of vocabulary and grammatical errors (if there’s any) are because I’m not from an English speaking country, sorry about that.”
