Yuu Yuu Hakusho Dai-San-Tama
Review by Sirius
"Side-scrolling Yuyu Hakusho game? You're damn right!!"
Wow. The games just keep getting better and better... The third installment in the Yuyu Hakusho games series for the GameBoy is g.r.e.a.t.!!
Story 8/10
And what comes after Toguro? You guessed it. In this game we follow Sensuï's storyline. And we fight all his guys, until we get to him.
Music/Sound 7/10
The music is this game is darker than in the previous ones. They suit well the story of Sensuï, but none were really special ones for me. As for the sound, well, typical, same as previous games.
Graphics 8/10
Nice looking graphics. Though not any better than the previous game, they're just fine. In this game there are also SD sprites of your chars since you have to walk in the city to get to new places and stuff. Cute.
Gameplay 9/10
I love how this series of games for the GameBoy follows the manga storyline exactly. Let me tell you one thing before I start, this game is F-U-N. Well, for me it was. So you start out in your house as Yusuke and you walk around the city talking to people. When in the city, you play from an overhead view. Then, when you walk into somewhere, this becomes a side-scrolling game. Enemies walk toward you, and you beat them. Simple uh? At the end of the level, you'll fight a boss. Eventually you'll get Kuwabara, Hiei and Kurama on your team also. The difference here in this game is that A is to jump, while B is to attack. It's not fighting game style like the second one was. Two buttons at the sametime for your special. Everytime you get out of a level, go sleep at home to recover all your hp and sp. It's free! ^_^ Also, there are levels in this game. I mean, levels for your chars to level up! When you get to level 5 or 6, your combo will be longer, your special move stronger. The game is not that much of a challenge though. My first real tough fight was against Kyoshi, he was a real pain. And then, the last level is quite hard if you didn't level up like mad, and Sensuï was also a great fight; that I restarted a couple of times.
Overall 9/10
Pure gaming fun. I was blown away. When I first started to play it I was like mehh... but as I kept moving on, it just became amazingly fun!
Oh! And for those wondering, don't worry if you can't read Japanese, you don't need it. Just move around and more and more places will become available to you as you move on. Enjoy!
