"One of the Best Game Boy Games Ever"

One of Nintendo's best franchises has been the "Donkey Kong" Series. So, in 1997, they decided to try and continue the success of that franchise by releasing "Donkey Kong Land III" for the old Game Boy system. How does "DKLIII" stack up with the other Game Boy games? Read my review to find out the answer to that question.

GRAPHICS--10/10

The graphics in this game are top-notch. Clearly, Nintendo used a multi-million dollar CGI design system to create the graphics for "DKLIII". The graphics are in a 2D view with 3d graphics. The enemies look fantastic on screen, so are Dixie and Kiddy. The barrel animations are superb. Overall, the graphics are excellent for an 8-bit hand held.

SOUNDS--10/10

The sounds in this game are excellent. You'll hear a "Boing!" sound when you jump on top of an enemy, thus killing that enemy. The sounds of the barrels being thrown and destroyed are top-notch. The music is excellent as well, consisting of all of the familiar tunes from previous "DKL"s, even tunes from the "Donkey Kong Country" series on the Super NES. Overall, the sounds are excellent.

CONTROLS--10/10

The controls are excellent. Aside from the normal jump and run buttons, you can twirl Dixie's pony tail around to safely lower you to the ground while getting very long distances from that jump. You can also roll as Kiddy to run over certain enemies. Best of all, you can switch between Dixie and Kiddy on the fly, thus making the controls easy to use. Overall, the controls are excellent.

STORY LINE--10/10

There's a race going on to see who gets to "The Lost World" first. So, Dixie and Kiddy Kong decides to enter this race. But for reasons best known to the Kremlins, the infamous King K. Rool decides to enter the race as well. So it's up to Dixie and Kiddy to get to "The Lost World" first. The story line is excellent.

GAME PLAY--10/10

The game play is top notch. You get the normal platform game play of any other game of it's kind. What makes the game play excellent is the secret stages you find all over the entire game. It takes a lot of time to get 100% of the game completed, from the secret stages to the DK coins. There's even a "Memory" style card-matching mini-game to keep you occupied as well. Overall, the game play is excellent.

OVERALL--10/10

"Donkey Kong Land III" is one of the best Game Boy games ever. This game is worth the money you spend trying to buy it. This game will keep Donkey Kong fans and the casual video game player occupied for many hours on end.
