"Woah...Talk About Suckage."
I have had this game for over 10 years now, and I cannot stand it. It has gained so much dust, Bunnies are staying away from it. Which is what I would probably recommend you do, as well.
So, whilst rummaging around my large game collection one faithful day, I came across this. I had vague memories about it, and I decided to give it another try, now that I had more patience for games.
Turns out, it wasn't just a "I don't like it because I can't do it!" childish-like attitude. It was a "Please crawl away and kindly sod off." adult-like attitude.
This game is an abomination.
Plot: 0
....Plot? Hahahahahahahahaha....2 snakes crawling through conveniently perilous levels! Clearly, the programmers were having a field day of new exciting concepts. How often do you get game design of that originality? </sarcasm>
Graphics: 5
Considering the technology limit of the early 90's, this game is quite accomplished. Even on the original grey brick of a Game Boy, they look quite nice, and the blurring isn't *that* bad.
Gameplay: 4
As I mentioned before, the game does run quite smoothly. There is little blurring, and the controls are quite solid. Having snakes eat things to gain weight may of borrowing something from Kirby, but manages to retain its interesting concept. However, the actual game itself is horrible. Boring, uninspired, cramped, difficult...a mess, basically.
Sound: 2
Standard techno blur. Didn't push the Game Boy in any way, shape, or form, and like the gameplay, it was very uninspired. Expect very, very little from the music.
Overall: 3
Making snakes eat enemies to gain weight is certainly an interesting concept, but the game is just dull and uninspiring. A below-average game with nice controls. If anything, it is merely a collectors item. An easily forgettable game that offers little that is new, or hasn't already been done before. I could be very cliche, and say "Stick to Mario!", but I wasn't that impressed with Super Mario Land. For snake purists, collectors, or people with an addiction to below-par games only.
