The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends
Review by Arguro
"Look Boris! It's Moose and Squirrel!"
The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends for the original Gameboy is based off of a cartoon from the 1970's. The cartoon was witty and featured a Moose named Bullwinkle and a Squirrel named Rocky. They had many adventures, one being to gather Moose Berries before the evil Boris Badinov and Natasha Fatale. Throughout their adventures, many souvenirs were gathered. In the game, it starts out at a museum dedicated to these souvenirs that were gathered. The museum curator is none other than Captain Peachfuzz. In his blundering moments of witlessness, he hired Boris and Natasha as museum guards. Almost instantly items start to disappear from the museum. Rocky asks Bullwinkle to start looking for these items. This is where you come in.
Game play
You start out controlling Bullwinkle. You are out on the streets of Frostbite Falls, Minnesota. It's your basic platformer. Boris and Natasha hide at the tops of buildings throwing knives and bombs down at you. You can jump on the window sills and get to the top of the buildings and take them out with your antlers. The challenge is huge because Bullwinkle moves slow but everything else moves fast. However, with just a little bit of playing, it can be mastered. There are many things out to get you other than Boris and Natasha such as electric currents in power wires, bandits, rolling garbage cans and killer poodles. It's an above average platformer in some respects but because of the slow movement it can be frustrating.

Sound and Music
Well, the Gameboy isn't known for good music and this is the case here. The theme song from the TV show is the in game music, however, it's just the first part and it loops and gets old fast. Since jumping is a big part of the game, the jumping sound effect is also very annoying very fast. The enemies don't make any noise so you don't know when they are approaching. However, everything is clear and crisp. It is very easy to tell that the in game music is from the TV show.

Controls
Pretty standard here. One button jumps, one button head butts. The controls are a little sluggish but not bad. Head butting is a little off and because of the slow jumping it's easy to get drilled by a bomb of electric current. However, the directional pad is very responsive so maneuvering is a possibility. All in all, the controls could be better but aren't bad.
Score 5
Graphics
The graphics are actually pretty sweet. All the characters look like they should and nothing looks out of place. It feels like you are playing a black in white version of the cartoon on a little tiny screen. Everything is clear, crisp, and concise. No complaints from me.
Score 10
Overall, The Adventures of Rocky Bullwinkle and Friends is an alright game. The controls and sound drag it down a bit but the graphics and gameplay (along with the witty storyline) help it out a lot. The game is a must have for fans of the show but isn't a must have for everyone. Patience is needed because the game is very frustrating at first. If you are willing to put some time into figuring the game out and don't mind annoying, repetitive music, then you should grab this game if you have the chance.
Pros:
1. Storyline feels like it is straight from the cartoon
2. Graphics are awesome
Cons:
1. Controls are sluggish
2. Sound is annoying and repetitive.
Final Score 6.75 rounded up = 7
