Kirby's Block Ball
Review by doshindude
"Kirby meets Breakout-Beautiful."
Kirby's block ball, one of the great fantastic 5 Game Boy Kirby Games (Dream Land, Dream Land 2, Pinball Land, Star Stacker, and Block Ball). This game brings back so many memories of when I played this game when I was about 7 or so. One day I found it at a Gamestop, picked it up, and wow...almost like reopening a door to the past...all of the sound effects, graphics, everything, so perfect.
Graphics: 10/10:
For a Game boy game in the early '90s, this game has incredible graphics. on a Game Boy Color or Advance, it's even better. No slowdowns, lots of sprites, and a wide variety of enemies.
Gameplay: 10/10:
I'd give this an 11 if i could. 10 Stages to choose from, but if you get a high score, you can unlock the 11th stage, which is twice the size of the other stages. There are many power ups, blocks, and other stuff that makes the game awesome. The game is like Breakout, use a small ball to destroy blocks and use a paddle to keep the ball from hitting the spikes, but when you Kirbyize it, you get awesome enemies, power ups, and even boss fights! This game has everything and doesn't miss anything.
Sound: 10/10:
Music is incredible, sounds are cute and appropriate for the game. But what I really liked here was the music. They get stuck in your head, but you want them to be stuck in your head. No flaws or anything.
Overall: 10/10:
This game is perfect. Seems like a small game, but don't judge a book by it's cover, or in this case, don't judge a game by it's cartridge. You can probably get it for $10 at Gamestop. This game should be mandatory for all gamers to play. If Nintendo made more games like this, they would be leading the market right now. A very nostalgic, "diamond in the rough" game. I recommend all Kirby fans, and Nintendo fans, for that matter, to get this game.
