Game Boy Camera
Review by flat_tyre
"I’ve never seen a camara that lets you create point and click adventures before…"
The Gameboy Camera is Amazing. No doubt about it. It can take photos using only 4 different colours! I wouldn't of thought that was possible before I tried this. The photos are of good quality too.
The Gameboy Camera is very simple to use. You just select camera mode, press the button to take a photo, and decide whether you want to save it or not. It's as simple as that. You can save up to 30 photos, and there are 30 bonus pictures to unlock by meeting certain criteria, such as take 100 photos. You can also change the brightness and contrast of your photos. You need to adjust both of these to get the best quality of photo for the area you are in.
There are lots of things to do with your photos. You can draw on them, use crazy cameras for weird effects, make animations, and even put your face in the games. There are 4 games, 3 are playable at the start, but there is one to unlock. I must say, the hidden one is the best of the lot! The first three games are: Space Fever II, a space invaders style game, Ball, a juggling game, and DJ, a game in which you can compose music. Your faces are used for different things in each game. In Space Fever II, your face is one of the bosses. In Ball, you are the juggler. In DJ, you are the DJ.
You can print off your photos by connecting a Gameboy Printer up whilst the Gameboy Camera is in the game slot. You can also trade photos with other people. Both of these are quick and simple to do.
Nintendo really have thought of everything. There is a stats screen, which shows how many photos you've taken, how many you've deleted, how many you've printed off, how many boys you've traded with, how many girls you've traded with, and much more. You can input your personal details, such as your name, age and gender. It saves your high-scores in the mini-games to look back on.
You can even create point and click adventure games with music and sound effects. A point and click game is where you are shown a picture of the area you are in, and you click on a something to go through it, investigate it, etc. Doing maze games through your house with traps is quite fun.
Overall, I think the Gameboy Camera is great fun. You can do so much more than with an ordinary camera. The picture quality may not be as good as proper cameras, but the quality is still amazing for a Gameboy with only 4 colours. If you see this in the shops, buy it. You will love it.
