Mega Man III

"Spark Man, Snake Man, Shadow Man, Gemini Man, Dust Man, Skull Man, Dive Man, Drill Man, and of course Punk!"

Mega Man is games that were made for the original NES are some of the best ever created, with Mega Man 2 & 3 leading the pack. The Mega Man X series, the Mega Man Zero series, and the Mega Man Battle Network series are good as well. All of these separate series all star a different Mega Man. There were also three 3D Mega Man games made for the Playstation. The original series was also ported over to the Game Boy as well. Mega Man 3 is a fun game that can be enjoyed by Mega Man fans everywhere.

The gameplay in Mega Man games is pretty simple. After the title screen, you will come to the stage select screen. It is hear that you can pick any of the 4 robot masters from Mega Man 3 that you wish to start with. After you make your selection, you will have to battle your way threw a stage until you get to the robot master. If you defeat him you clear the stage, and also take that robots weapon as well. This weapon is very affective against another specific robot master. If you use this weapon, it is sometimes easy to defeat another robot master in as little as three or four hits. That is something that Capcom pushed when it came to Mega Man, a sort of rock, paper, scissors type of gameplay. After you defeat the 4 robot masters from Mega Man 3, you'll face off against 4 more from Mega Man 4.

Mega Man 3 doesn't have a gripping storyline, in fact I think that it is the weakest of all of the Game Boy Mega Man games. Dr. Wily is seen drilling for oil. Why he is anyone guess? He has rebuilt 4 robot masters from Mega Man 3 & 4 from the NES. Dr. Wily has also created a new robot master called Punk. In order to reach Dr. Wily and Punk, Mega Man will have to defeat those eight robot masters again.

The graphics are interesting to look at. The sprites and backgrounds are basically the same as the NES versions. The jumping is decent, as is the play control. One thing that is very weird is that the sprites are massive. Mega Man and the robot masters are HUGE, and it makes battles somewhat difficult. The music is similar to the NES. So, Spark Man's music is almost the same as his music from Mega Man 3 on the NES. In all it does sound pretty good. The game is also a bit harder Mega Man 2, but not as hard as Mega Man 1.

All Mega Man games have lots of replay value. This game is no different. While this game is very short, it is fun to replay threw again and again. It still is in my opinion a rehash of Mega Man 3 & 4 from the NES, but that's okay. All of the Game Boy games are like that, rehashes of the NES Mega Man games (except for Mega Man 5). I still think that the NES games are better, but the Game Boy games are still very fun to play threw. This game is still a worthy addition to your game library.
