Taz in Escape from Mars

"One of the better games for the Game Gear..."

Taz in Escape from Mars is a Game Gear that involves everyones favorite Tasmanian Devil -- Taz! Here is my review of Taz in Escape from Mars.

Story: 9/10

One day Taz is kidnapped by Marvin the Martian and placed in Marvin's zoo on Mars. Taz manages to escape from his cage. Now Taz must defeat Marvin's goonies and find a way to escape from Mars. I have to admit that the story is pretty powerful and I see nothing wrong with this. I give the story a 9.

Graphics: 7/10

The graphics for this game are identical to the Genesis version of this game. The graphics are bright and colorful but they are not the best looking graphics. The level design is colorful and the enemies are creative also. I give the graphics an 7.

Controls: 9/10

The basic controls in this game are jumping, moving, running, etc. The primary move you will use throughout the game is Taz's spin. Taz's spin is used to defeat enemies, break objects, etc. Taz's spin can be spun for more than a minute which makes it easy. Overall, the controls are basic. I give the controls a 9.

Gameplay: 7/10

The main thing you do in this game is to run around levels and defeat enemies. To complete a level Taz must either find an exit sign or defeat a boss. Taz has a total of 12-point health. If he touches an enemy than he will take a certain amount of damage. Around the levels however are different kinds of foods for Taz to collect. Taz will gain health if he eat these foods. There are also power-downs that will make Taz lose a life if he eats it. Taz can also gain power-ups that enhance his spin. For example, Taz can pick up rocks and shoot them at enemies. If you lose all 12-points of Taz's health then the game is over. The gameplay can get repetitive however which takes away from the score of the game. I give the gameplay a 7.

Final Recommendation:

If you are able to still find this game and play the Game Gear, then buy this game!
