Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers - The Movie
Review by Dave 008 Bond
"Somehow Sega has done it. They made a Power Rangers game fun. I respect them so much more now."
Introduction
Ever played a videogame you thought would completely bomb but you ended up loving it? Well, this is one of those games. I don't know how, but Sega has done the impossible. They made a Power Rangers game awesome. Now my respect for Sega has tripled. Well, enough of my yacking and lets go on to the review!!!
Graphics 8/10
What you should expect for a Game Gear game. The Power Rangers look detailed, and so do all the enemies. The backgrounds are really well picked out, they match the battle perfectly. But remember this is a Game Gear, its supposed to have great graphics!
Story 7/10
Well, the story is the one just like on the movie. First Goldar wants to capture the Power Rangers. Then he... whoops can't tell you, after all this is a review! But the plot twists a couple of times.
Sound 8/10
Nice clear sound effects and music. The music tunes are catchy and are appropiate for the fight. As for the sound effects, Take all the basic sounds for a fighting game and thats what you get. On to Gameplay.
Gameplay 9/10
*Gasp* A Power Rangers game for a system almost nobody heard about is good!? I'm as surprised as you are. Simply put, this is a fighting game. In a fighting game, you choose an attack to use against another fighter, who may beat you to the punch. You keep fighting until one of the charactors is defeated. All of the battles have a sense of power and awe, so it becomes more fun. Maybe this game is so fun because you can beat anybody with anybody. Yes you heard me right. You can play a bad guy, and humiliate a good guy! That is just brilliant, so you have a whole other set of characters to choose from. And there is an Options menu, (All fighting games have one) so you can do a Sound Effect or Music test, Number of defeats it takes to win, and Difficulty. This is all the ingredients it takes to make a fun game.
Control 8/10
Its pretty nice. The control is like the ones for all other fighting games. Not that much to say here.
Replay Value 7/10
You will want to play this game after you beat it to play all the people you slaughtered, and there is a Link Cable fight option too. You will want to experience this game again, without any doubt.
Challenge 7/10
Pretty easy on Easy mode, (duh) Pretty fair on Medium, and REALLY CHALLENGING on hard mode! So there is a difficulty for everybody. And for me it was challenging.
Buy or Rent
If you're looking for a fighting game, or are just bored, than this will be a welcome addition to your video game library.
