Review by Dave 008 Bond
"The most underated system of all time!"
Introduction
It's about time somebody reaviled the truth behind this system! Behind all the system bashing, there is a exellent hand-held! This system didn't have a very large game library, since for some reason nobody liked it. But there still is plenty of good games for it, the only bad one being Sonic 2. Enough yakking and on to the truth behind this underated system!
Graphics 8/10
They were near Genises quality! In every Game Gear game I have played thus far all the characters were all very detailed. Most of the back-grounds looked detailed too. Everything was far more colorful than the Game Boy Color, too. A very nice feature was you could make the screen color lighter or darker, which really helped if you played games in the dark.
Story N/A
This is system review, it does not have a story.
Sound 7/10
Very similar to the Genisis. The sound effects were all good, but nothing memorable. The music was even better than a Super NES, it produced some very good songs that I still remember to this day. And just like the Gameboy it had a volume adjuster. Overall you would find lots of memorable tunes here.
Gameplay 9/10
You can't go very wrong here. All of the games were fun, in one way or another. But by far the Sonic seris are the most famous though. They were as fun as they were on the Genisis. Overall Sega didn't fail to makes fun games woth this beatiful system.
Controls 8/10
Very good controls. Starting from the left, the is the directional pad. The nice thing about it is there are also diagnol buttons too! Then there is the ''1'' button which is usually used for jumping, and the ''2'' button which is also a jumping button. And above the ''1'' button there is the ''Start'' button. In other words, it looks just like a Game Boy Advance.
Buy or Rent?
If you are sick of your Game Boy, and want a new system, then let the Sega Gamegear show you the way into happiness.
Overall 8/10
