This is probably THE best baseball game on the Game Gear and it is one of the first ones to come out on the portable system.

GAME-PLAY: 9/10

It's a standard baseball simulator. You can easily get into this game without too much hassle. The controls are perfect and near-flawless. The pitching is easy, letting you simply throw a fast pitch or a slow one and giving you the control of the ball as it is being thrown to home plate. The only not-so-perfect part of it is the fielding. It takes some getting used to and it's not too bad. The batting on the other hand is fun and the throwing to the different bases and running from bases is easy enough.

GRAPHICS: 9/10

You can't get much better graphics than this on the Game Gear. It is crystal clear and actually pretty detailed. It's not like there is just one stadium to choose from either. There are different stadiums that look distinctly different from one another.

SOUND: 8/10

You can't expect great music from a baseball game and the Game Gear isn't know for the best sound, but it's great with what it gives you. You can actually understand what the umpires say as they yell "STRIKE" "BALL" or "OUT". No major complaints here.

RE-PLAYABILITY: 7/10

The re-playability on this game isn't the best, but it is by far not the worst. You can play this game for awhile, especially since there is a seaon mode to do, but you won't be playing this for years to come. There is however, a nifty two player game that you can do, which is pretty cool.

OVERALL: 9/10

Now, it's not like I still play this game everyday or I have an urge to play this game every once in awhile, but you can have your share of fun with this game. It's a must-have for any Game Gear owner, even if you don't particularly care for baseball.

BUY or RENT?

Now, this depends...if you already own a Game Gear, then by all means, you should HAVE this game. BUT if you don't have a Game Gear, don't go out and buy one just to get this game. It's good, but not THAT good.
