"One of the better Game Gear games out there"

Genre: 2D Adventure

Game Play: 8/10
The goal of Sonic-2 is to run thru the levels at high speeds (you can also go slow if you want). To destroy the enemy's that will get in your way you can either jump on them or "spin dash" into them (a spin dash is when you make sonic spin in place and then take off realy fast on the ground). This may sound easy but this sonic can get a little hard. You don't just run, you can get a glider, a mine cart, and some other things. The game is very fun and for it's time, very original. The level of difficulty is not low, but it's not all that easy either, if you have a Game Gear you should try and find this game, Sonic-2 is a good game thats worth buying.

Graphics: 8/10
For a Game Gear game Sonic-2 has great graphics. It's smooth at times, very clear when compared to other games for the Game Gear, and it's easy to set the brightness when playing the game. The level's are large when compared to the first Sonic, and there are a good aray of enemy's to fight. Some levels you can get special items, one level you are alowed to fly a glider for a good portion of the stage. The abillity to spin dash is also handy because of it's many uses, the whole game has very good graphics (for a Game Gear game that is).

Sound: 8/10
Sonic-2 has ok sound but it's nothing great. When you jump there is an anoying "boing" noise that can be heard, when you charge the spin dash it sounds like a super high pitch "shhhhhhhh" noise. When you hit enemy's and they are destroyed they make a either a fuzzy "pop" noise or "poosh" noise. Much of the sound effects can become very anoying when your having a hard time clearing a stage, but for the most part it's ok. The music sounds just like all the other old 2D Sonic games, it's very up beat and happy sounding, it can also can become anoying at times but it to also is mosty ok to listen to. Sonic-2's sound is just average for a Game Gear game.

Overview: 8/10
Sonic-2 is a great Game Gear game. The graphics are better than that of most Game Gear games, the gliders and other items you can find add to the entertainment of the game. Plus it's easy to set the brightness of the game unlike a lot of other Game Gear games. The music is oddly enough very "Sonic-ish" and up beat. Plus it's clear for a Game Gear game. The sound effects can become anoying at times because there so cartoonish, but mostly there not too bad to listen to. The game is easy but not so easy that it becomes borring, it's just right for new and young gamers, and still fun to the hard core gamers. Sonic-2 is one of the better Game Gear games out there, if you are planning to get a Game Gear you will probably want to try and find this game. I give sonic-2 for the Sega Game Gear, an eight out of ten.
