1. INTRODUCTION/HISTORY--------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The most recent incarnation of the newest hit, Yu-Gi-Oh! The Eternal
Duelist Soul is the first English Yu-Gi-Oh! release that follows the Expert
Rules used for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game.
Version FINAL (11/26/03): Happy Thanksgiving.
Version 0.75(1/24/03): I've been slowly chipping away at this thing for the
past few months. I have not included a "How to Play" segment as of this
version, as there's an 80+ page instruction manual that you can use, plus the
game isn't very hard once you learn how to play it. I may include one in the
next version if there's any demand for it. Also, some of my booster pack lists
are incomplete, so that's also why this isn't a full 1.0 version. Actually,
after this initial version, I will probably add a How to Play segment, as well
as a Tips and Tricks section, and possibly some example decks you can use. I
never originally intended to make a full FAQ/Walkthrough for this game (this
was only supposed to be a card list), but it kind of turned into that. Be
afraid, be very afraid.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. CREDITS---------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VisualBoyAdvance: OK, so sue me, I'm doing most of this guide on an emulator.
But it would take much more time to do this with the actual game.
themaster(http://tiger-inc.web1000.com/yugioh.html): Cheat list for getting all
of the cards in the game. That made this REALLY easy to do.
Teara(ooh44@hotmail.com): Passwords for all of the cards.
KronosCoreMagi/J Dogg: I used their deck lists for referencing while making
mine, but mine are not the same as their's. Either their lists have errors, or
I'm playing a different game than them o_O
Edo's Yu-Gi-Oh! Page! (http://www.stormpages.com/edhrzic/Yugioh.htm): The
booster packs in this game have similar contents to the corresponding booster
packs in the Japanese version of the official card game. This site has the
best translations of any site on the internet, so I used this site to help with
my booster pack lists.
CJayC(http://www.gamefaqs.com): For posting this, of course =)

B. BUILDING A DECK/RESTRICTION LIST============================================
===============================================================================
1. In order to play the game, you must have a deck consisting of at least 40
cards. In the actual real life game, you can have as many cards in your deck
as you want as long as you have a minimum of 40, but here, you are limited to
60 cards.
2. If you choose to build a Fusion deck, you may have up to 20 Fusion monsters
in there. This deck will only be accessed when you perform a Fusion.
3. If you choose to build a Side Deck, you may have exactly 15 cards in it. If
you have less or more than 15, you will not be able to access it during a
match. You may swap cards between your deck and your side deck in between each
duel of a best-of-3 match. This is used to adjust your deck to your opponent's
strategy in between duels of a match.
4. All cards that do not appear in any of these decks will be kept in your
Trunk. Your Trunk is accessible anytime you are not in a Duel or Match.
5. You may have up to 3 of any particular card in any combination of the Main
Deck and Side Deck. However, there are certain cards that are so powerful,
that they can only appear in quantities of 1 or 2 in your deck. Here is the
list:

C. ACHIEVING VICTORY===========================================================
===============================================================================
A player wins a duel when:
1. His/her opponent's Life Points are reduced to 0.
2. His/her opponent runs out of cards in their deck and they are required to
draw a card (for example, during the Draw Phase)
3. He/she assembles all five parts of Exodia in their hand
To win a match (best out of 3 duels), a player must:
1. Win 2 out of 3 duels
2. Win 1 duel and tie the other 2
A match results in a tie when:
1. Each player wins a duel and ties the 3rd.
2. Each duel results in a tie
===============================================================================
D. MONSTER CARDS===============================================================
===============================================================================
Monster cards are the cards that you will use to do battle in this game.
Monsters are responsible for both attacking your opponent and defending from
your opponent's monsters.
There are 6 Attributes of monsters (Dark, Earth, Fire, Light, Water, Wind) and
20 Types of monsters (Aqua, Beast, Beast-Warrior, Dinosaur, Dragon, Fairy,
Fiend, Fish, Insect, Machine, Plant, Pyro, Reptile, Rock, Sea Serpent,
Spellcaster, Thunder, Warrior, Winged-Beast, Zombie)
Monster cards come in various types:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Normal Monster Cards
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Color: Yellow
These are the standard type of monsters. They have no special effects or
Special Summon requirements.
Examples: Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Dark Magician.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Effect Monster Cards
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Color: Orange
These monsters come with some kind of special effect that either enhances,
inhibits, or both enhances and inhibits itself or other cards on the field.
They come in different types:
Flip Effect:
------------
The effects of these monsters are activated when they are changed from face-
down to face-up, whether by attack, Flip Summon, or by a Monster/Magic/Trap
effect. Note that cards like Raigeki, Dark Hole, and Tribute to the Doomed do
not flip over monsters, thus, Flip Effects won't be activated.
Examples: Magician of Faith, Penguin Soldier
Continuous Effect:
------------------
The effects of these monsters remain in effect while the monster is face-up on
the field. If the monster is turned face-down, the effect is not in effect
anymore.
Examples: Jinzo, Shadow Ghoul
Cost Effect:
------------
These effects are activated by paying some kind of cost to use them, like
paying Life Points, discarding a card from your hand, or offering one or more
monsters as a Tribute.
Examples: Cannon Soldier, Panther Warrior
Trigger Effect:
---------------
When a certain condition takes place (like direct damage to your opponent),
these kinds of effects activate.
Examples: Masked Sorcerer, White Magical Hat
Multi-Trigger Effect:
---------------------
This effect is kind of like a Trigger Effect, but it is also possible to
activate it during your opponent's turn.
Examples: Kuriboh
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fusion Monster Cards
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Color: Violet/Light Purple
These monsters can be summoned by using the "Polymerization" card to combine 2
or more monsters from a combination of your side of the Field and your hand.
Fusion Monsters are kept in the Fusion Deck, which is not called upon until it
is time to perform the Fusion.
Summoning a Fusion Monster is considered a Special Summon, so it will be
possible to perform a Normal Summon or Set in the same turn (see E. Summoning
Monsters)
A Fusion Monster coming into play via the "Polymerization" card can be revived
with Monster Reborn, Call of the Haunted, etc. if it is destroyed after being
put into play (if the summon is negated with Solemn Judgement or Horn of
Heaven, this will not be the case). However, if a Fusion Monster is brought
into play using the card "Cyber-Stein", you will not be able to revive the
monster once it is destroyed (take that Kaiba!)
If a Fusion Monster is returned to a player's hand (Hane-Hane, Penguin Soldier,
Wall of Illusion, etc.), it goes back to the Fusion Deck, and you must use
"Polymerization" again to Special Summon it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ritual Monster Cards
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Color: Blue/Dark Purple
These monsters can be summoned by using a Ritual Magic card to offer monsters
on your side of the field and/or in your hand.
You must have both the Ritual Monster and the corresponding Ritual Magic in
your hand to perform a Ritual Summon.
When using a Ritual Magic card, you will be required to offer a number of
monsters with Level Stars equal to the Ritual Monster you are trying to summon.
For example, Black Luster Soldier is a Level 8 monster. Therefore, you must
offer monsters with a combined level of 8 to perform the summon.
Summoning a Ritual Monster is considered a Special Summon, so it will be
possible to perform a Normal Summon or Set in the same turn (see E. Summoning
Monsters)
A Ritual Monster coming into play via a Ritual Magic card card can be revived
with Monster Reborn, Call of the Haunted, etc. if it is destroyed after being
put into play (if the summon is negated with Solemn Judgement or Horn of
Heaven, this will not be the case). However, if a Ritual Monster is discarded
from your hand, it cannot be revived.
If a Ritual Monster is returned to a player's hand (Hane-Hane, Penguin Soldier,
Wall of Illusion, etc.), you must use the Ritual Magic card again to Special
Summon it.
===============================================================================
E. SUMMONING MONSTERS==========================================================
===============================================================================
Summoning a monster is the act of placing a monster into the field of play
(well, obviously =/). There are numerous ways to perform this.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Normal Summon
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Normal Summon is simply that: a summon with no special conditions to fulfill.
You will normally perform these with Normal Monsters and most Effect Monsters.
You may perform one Normal Summon per turn under normal conditions. (Cards
like Ultimate Offering let you perform more than one per turn.) Cards Normal
Summoned will be placed in face-up Attack Position.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Set
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Instead of Normal Summoning a monster in face-up Attack Position, you can Set a
monster in face-down Defense Position. This is normally a good idea if the
monster you are Setting has a flip effect or is too weak to destroy any
monsters on your opponent's side of the field. You may only perform a Set if
you have not already performed a Normal or Tribute Summon in the same turn.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tribute Summon
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Tribute Summon is a special kind of Normal Summon that requires you to offer
monsters on your side of the field to Normal Summon a monster with a Level of 5
or higher.
Level 5/6 monsters require 1 offering, and Level 7+ monsters require 2
offerings.
Tribute Summoned monsters may either be summoned in face-up Attack Position or
Set in face-down Defense Position.
You may only perform a Tribute Summon if you have not already performed a
Normal Summon or Set in the same turn.
If a Tribute Summoned monster is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, or
discarded from your hand, you may revive it with Monster Reborn, Call of the
Haunted, etc. without reoffering for them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Special Summon
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Special Summons are classified as any summons that take place outside of a
Normal Summon, Set, or Tribute Summon. There are a few classifications:
1. Fusion Summon
2. Ritual Summon
3. Summoning a monster using some kind of special effect (Monster Reborn, Call
of the Haunted, etc.)
4. Summoning a monster with an inherent Special Summon requirement (Great Moth,
Gate Guardian, etc.)
Special Summons may be performed as many times as you wish during a turn.
Since they are not considered Normal Summons, you may still perform a Normal
Summon, Set, or Tribute Summon during the same turn.
Special Summons are normally always in face-up Attack Position unless the
effect bringing the monster into play states otherwise.
If a Fusion monster, Ritual monster, or monster with an inherent Special Summon
requirement is not successfully brought into play, or is brought into play
using an alternate method (like Cyber-Stein), and goes to the Graveyard, you
cannot use Monster Reborn, Call of the Haunted, etc. to Special Summon them
back into play.
===============================================================================
F. MAGIC CARDS=================================================================
===============================================================================
Magics (or Spells, depending on what you wish to name them) are used to enhance
or destroy other Monsters, Magic, and Traps on the field. You can tell Magic
Cards by their distinctive Green color.
There are six different types of Magic: Normal Magic, Continuous Magic, Equip
Magic, Field Magic, Quick-Play Magic, and Ritual Magic.
With the exception of Quick-Play Magic, Magics can normally be played only
during your Main Phase 1 or Main Phase 2.
You can only have a combined 5 Magic/Traps on the field at the same time (as
well as 1 Field Magic Card). You cannot activate any more Magic/Traps when all
of your Magic/Trap slots are full.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Normal Magic
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are the standard type of Magic cards. They are activated during your
Main Phase 1 or Main Phase 2 and, with a rare few exceptions, go to your
Graveyard upon resolution.
Examples: Raigeki, Pot of Greed, De-Spell
Exceptions: Swords of Revealing Light (remains on your side of the field until
the turns are up)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Equip Magic
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These Magic are, as they state, equipped to a Monster. Equip Magic usually
give the equipped Monster an ATK/DEF boost or a special ability.
Equip Magic remain on the field while equipped onto a monster unless they are
destroyed by another card effect, or the equipped Monster leaves the field.
You may equip one or more Equip Magic cards onto a single monster, and you can
also equip them onto opponent's monsters.
Examples: Sword of Dark Destruction, Axe of Despair, Snatch Steal
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Continuous Magic
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Upon activation and resolution, these Magics remain on the field. Most have
special abilities that you can activate at different times. They remain on the
field until destroyed by another effect or by their own effect.
Examples: Toon World, Messenger of Peace
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Field Magic
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Field Magic are like Continuous Magic, and remain on the field upon activation
and resolution. They have the ability to increase or decrease the ATK/DEF of
certain types of Monsters.
Field Magic are special, because they get their own slot on the field and do
not violate the 5 Magic/Trap slot rule.
There can only be 1 Field Magic on the field at the same time. If your
opponent plays a Field Magic in their Field Magic Slot, your Field Magic is
destroyed. You can play a Field Magic if you already have a Field Magic in
play, as well.
Examples: Umi, Yami, Gaia Power
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick-Play Magic
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick-Plays are really the oddball out of the bunch.
They can be played from your hand during your Battle Phase, violating the Main
Phase-only rule.
If you set them on the field, you can flip them up during your opponent's turn.
Note that you cannot play these from your HAND during your opponent's turn.
Examples: Mystical Space Typhoon, Rush Recklessly, The Reliable Guardian
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ritual Magic
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ritual Magic cards are used to Special Summon Ritual Monsters.
Examples: Turtle Oath, Black Luster Ritual, Performance of Sword
===============================================================================
G. TRAP CARDS==================================================================
===============================================================================
Trap Cards are, like they state, meant to be a trap for your opponent. They
are set on the field, then are normally activated by a certain occurence
happening on the field.
When you set a Trap Card, you must wait until the next player's turn in order
to activate it. After that point, you can activate it during either player's
turn.
Trap Cards are designated by their purple color.
There are three different types of Traps: Normal Traps, Continuous Traps, and
Counter Traps
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Normal Traps
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The standard Trap. These disappear after their effect has activated and
resolved. While some require a certain event to occur, most of them can be
activated at any time as long as they have been on the field for at least 1
turn.
Examples: Waboku, Trap Hole, Ceasefire
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Continuous Traps
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Like Continuous Magics, these stay on the field after activation and resolution
until destroyed by some type of effect, whether it be an external effect or the
card's effect itself.
Examples: Call of the Haunted, Imperial Order, Robbin' Goblin
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Counter Traps
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the name suggests, Counter Traps are activated in response to another play
on the field, whether it be a summon, activation, attack, or otherwise. You
can tell these by the Counter Icon on them.
Examples: Magic Jammer, Seven Tools of the Bandit, Solemn Judgment
===============================================================================
H. PHASES======================================================================
===============================================================================
There are 6 Phases to a turn. These are, in order: Draw Phase, Standby Phase,
Main Phase 1, Battle Phase, Main Phase 2, and End Phase.
Phases may have certain actions that must be performed or certain limitations
on what can be done.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Draw Phase
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first phase of your turn, all you do is draw a card from your deck. If you
cannot draw a card from your deck because there are no more cards left, you
lose the Duel.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Standby Phase
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Similar to Magic's "Upkeep Step", almost all cards that require you to pay a
certain type of upkeep (like Imperial Order or Messenger of Peace) occur during
the Standby Phase. It will be stated on the card whether it requires you to
pay a cost during the Standby Phase.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main Phase 1
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During the Main Phase, the player may perform any of the following actions:
*Summon monsters
You are entitled to one Normal Summon or one Set per turn. You may perform as
many Special Summons as is allowed by the cards you have and the number of
Monster slots you have. You may also perform Flip, Ritual and Fusion Summons
as well.
*Play/set a Magic card
*Set a Trap card
*Activate a face-down Quick-Play Magic or face-down Trap, as long as conditions
are correct.
*Activate the effect of one of your cards on the field
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle Phase
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is where your monsters on the field can do combat with the opponent's
monsters. Unless conditions forbid them otherwise, each face-up Attack
Position monster under your control is entitled to one Attack.
The Battle Phase has its own section, after this section is complete.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main Phase 2
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Basically a repeat of Main Phase 1, you may perform any of the actions here
that you can do there. If you Normal Summoned or Set a monster during Main
Phase 1, you can't Normal Summon/Set another monster during Main Phase 2.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
End Phase
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your turn is basically over here.
At this point, the game will check to see how many cards are in your hand. If
you have more than six cards in your hand, you must discard cards from your
hand until you are down to six cards before the End Phase ends.
At the end of the End Phase, the game proceeds to your opponent's Draw Phase.
===============================================================================
I. BATTLE PHASE================================================================
===============================================================================
The Battle Phase is different from other Phases in the fact that it has its own
"phases" (known as Steps to alleviate confusion). They are as follows:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Start Step
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is when you declare that you are entering your Battle Phase.
You and your opponent may activate face-down Quick-Play Magics and Traps during
this step.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle Step
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During this Step, you declare one of your face-up Attack Position monsters that
has the ability to attack and has not already attacked this turn, and you
declare a legal target for your monster to attack. This target is usually an
opponent's monster, but if your opponent has no monsters, or your monster has
the ability to, you can declare the opponent as a Target.
After the attacker and defender have been declared, you and your opponent may
activate face-down Quick-Play Magics and Traps.
At this point, if the number of monsters on your opponent's side of the field
changes, a replay occurs, and you return to the beginning of the Battle Step.
You may declare a new attacker and new defender at this point, and the monster
originally declared to attack still has the ability to attack.
If the attacking monster is destroyed at this point, you do not get a replay
with that monster, and you go to the next Battle Step for your next monster (if
you have any eligible attackers left).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage Step
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is where the actual combat takes place. This is divided into its own sub-
steps:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Flip target monster face-up if it is face-down.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 1/2. This is the only point when you or your opponent may activate a face-
down Quick-Play Magic or Trap. Also, the only Quick-Play Magics or Traps that
can be played are those that modify Attack or Defense.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Calculate and apply damage
Damage is calculated in one of the following ways:
_____________________________________________________________________________

If your opponent's monster is in Attack Position
Attacker's ATK Points > Opponent's ATK Points
_____________________________________________________________________________

If the opponent's monster is in Attack Position, and your monster's ATK is
HIGHER than your opponent's monster's ATK, your opponent's monster will be
destroyed and you deal damage to your opponent equal to the difference in the
two monsters' ATK.

For example: I attack a Gemini Elf (ATK: 1900) with my Jinzo (ATK: 2400).
Gemini Elf will be destroyed, and your opponent takes 500 damage.
_____________________________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________________________

If your opponent's monster is in Attack Position
Attacker's ATK Points = Opponent's ATK Points
_____________________________________________________________________________

If the opponent's monster is in Attack Position, and your monster's ATK is
THE SAME as your opponent's monster's ATK, both monsters will be destroyed
and neither player will take any damage.

For example: I attack a Gemini Elf (ATK: 1900) with my Vorse Raider (ATK:
1900). Both monsters will be destroyed. and neither player takes any damage.
_____________________________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________________________

If your opponent's monster is in Attack Position
Attacker's ATK Points < Opponent's ATK Points
_____________________________________________________________________________

If the opponent's monster is in Attack Position, and your monster's ATK is
LESS than your opponent's monster's ATK, your monster will be destroyed and
you take damage equal to the difference in the two monsters' ATK.

For example: I attack a Jinzo (ATK: 2400) with my Gemini Elf (ATK: 1900).
Gemini Elf will be destroyed, and I take 500 damage.
_____________________________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________________________

If your opponent's monster is in Defense Position
Attacker's ATK Points > Opponent's DEF Points
_____________________________________________________________________________

If the opponent's monster is in Defense Position, and your monster's ATK is
HIGHER than your opponent's monster's DEF, your opponent's monster will be
destroyed and neither player takes any damage.

For example: I attack a Witch of the Black Forest (DEF: 1200) with my Gemini
Elf (ATK: 1900). Witch of the Black Forest will be destroyed, and neither
player takes any damage.
_____________________________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________________________

If your opponent's monster is in Defense Position
Attacker's ATK Points = Opponent's DEF Points
_____________________________________________________________________________

If the opponent's monster is in Defense Position, and your monster's ATK is
THE SAME as your opponent's monster's DEF, neither monster will be destroyed
and neither player will take any damage.

For example: I attack a Labyrinth Wall (DEF: 3000) with my Blue-Eyes White
Dragon (ATK: 3000). Neither monster will be destroyed, and neither player
takes any damage.
_____________________________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________________________

If your opponent's monster is in Defense Position
Attacker's ATK Points < Opponent's DEF Points
_____________________________________________________________________________

If the opponent's monster is in Defense Position, and your monster's ATK is
LESS than your opponent's monster's DEF, neither monster will be destroyed,
but you take damage equal to the difference of your opponent's monster's DEF
and your monster's ATK.

For example: I attack a Mystical Elf (DEF: 2000) with my Gemini Elf (ATK:
1900). Neither monster will be destroyed, but I take 100 damage.
_____________________________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________________________

If your opponent has no monsters on the field
_____________________________________________________________________________

If your opponent has no monsters, your opponent takes damage equal to your
monster's ATK.

For example: My opponent has no monsters on the field, and I attack with my
Gemini Elf (ATK: 1900). My opponent takes 1900 damage.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Resolve effects
At this point, any Flip Effects and other effects activate and resolve. You
cannot target a monster that has already been destroyed by Damage Calculation
with a Flip Effect.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Send to the Graveyard
Any monsters that would be destroyed by Damage Calculation will be destroyed at
this point and sent to the Graveyard. The effect of monsters that go to the
Graveyard at this point that trigger when the monster goes to the Graveyard
from the fiend activate at this point.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Declare Another Attacker?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At this point, you may declare another attacker and defender if you have any
left. If you don't have any legal attackers left, or choose not to attack
again, proceed to the End Step.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
End Step
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After completing all Battle and Damage Steps, this is the point when you
declare the end of your Battle Phase and the beginning of Main Phase 2.
===============================================================================
J. CHAINS======================================================================
===============================================================================
When you activate an effect in response to another effect, you are considered
to be "chaining to" that effect. This is where the "Chain Rule" comes into
effect (the same as Magic's "stack"). You can chain one effect to another
based on Spell Speed.
Different types of cards have different "Spell Speeds". These Spell Speeds
determine what cards can be chained to each other.
There are three different Spell Speeds:
_____________________________________________________________________________
|Spell Speed |Card Type |Can be chained to |
|__________________|___________________________|______________________________|
|Spell Speed 1 |Normal Magic |Nothing |
| |Equip Magic | |
| |Field Magic | |
| |Ritual Magic | |
| |Effect Monster | |
| | (all except Multi-Trigger)| |
|__________________|___________________________|______________________________|
|Spell Speed 2 |Quick-Play Magic |Spell Speed 1 |
| |Normal Trap |Spell Speed 2 |
| |Continuous Trap | |
| |Effect Monster | |
| | (Multi-Trigger) | |
|__________________|___________________________|______________________________|
|Spell Speed 3 |Counter Trap |Anything |
|__________________|___________________________|______________________________|
Once you have activated an effect, your opponent gets a chance to respond with
a legal effect.
If your opponent accepts and activates an effect, you may activate another
legal effect in response to this. In this case, your opponent will once again
get another chance to respond.
If your opponent declines, you may activate another legal effect in response to
your own effect.
If your opponent declines, and you decline as well, the chain ends, and
proceeds to resolve from the end of the chain to the beginning.
(Think of it as a stack. Each effect is placed onto the stack, on top of the
previous effect. Once the stack is completed, you start at the top of the
stack and resolve the effects downward.)
Here's an example:
*I activate Pot of Greed from my hand (Spell Speed 1).
*My opponent responds with his/her face-down Imperial Order (Spell Speed 2) to
negate the Pot of Greed.
*In response, I activate my face-down Seven Tools of the Bandit (Spell Speed
3). The cost is paid at activation, so I pay 1000 LP.
*In response to that, my opponent activates his/her face-down Solemn Judgement
(Spell Speed 3). The cost is paid at activation, so my opponent pays half of
his/her LP.
*I decline playing another effect.
*My opponent declines playing another effect.
The chain then resolves backwards, starting from the end:
*Solemn Judgement resolves successfully, negating and destroying Seven Tools of
the Bandit.
*Seven Tools of the Bandit attempts to resolve, but since it is negated and
destroyed, it is removed from the chain.
*Imperial Order resolves successfully, negating all Magic Cards.
*Pot of Greed attempts to resolve, but it is negated. Since it is a Normal
Magic, it is sent to the Graveyard without an effect.

get a special pack of 5 cards. If you win on this day, you'll still get your
normal pack choice, in addition to this.

random opponent out of all opponents you have unlocked in a full match (best 2
out of 3 duels). Winning gives you the normal prize.
Grandpa Cup: On the first Saturday of June, you will face a random opponent out
of all opponents you have unlocked in a full match. Winning gives you the

can't find very easily in other places.
National Championship: On the first Sunday in November, you will start the
National Championships. You will face a random opponent in a full match. If

Random Duel: Once in a while, your chosen opponent will face you in a full
match, but with a twist. When each duel starts, a random field card (not
necessarily from their deck) will be played. Defeating your opponent gains you
a special pack of 5 rare cards.
Rare Hunters: Once in a while, you will randomly face a Rare Hunter (Umbra &
Lumis, Arkana, Rare Hunter, Strings, or Marik) in a single duel. If you lose,
you will give up the rarest card in your deck (how this is decided, I don't
know). If you win, you will get a special pack of 5 rare cards.

1x Swords of Revealing Light
Traps:
------
1x Trap Hole
Description:
------------
Most likely the first opponent you will choose to face is the hero of the Yu-
Gi-Oh! saga, Yugi Muto. While not as talented as he is in the anime/manga, his
deck posesses the rare Dark Magician and Buster Blader, as well as a full set
of Exodia. However, his deck lacks focus and a full supporting cast of
Magic/Trap cards. He makes an excellent beginning opponent to learn the game
with before you go on to harder duelists.

Magic:
------
1x Change of Heart
1x Graceful Charity
1x Monster Reborn
1x Raigeki
Traps:
------
None, which is unique for any character in the game
Description:
------------
In the anime, her deck centered around cutesie monsters with cutesie Equips.
She has ditched the Equips in this game, and instead put in a few powerhouse
Magics, and a couple of piledriver monsters (Gemini Elf, Cyber-Tech Alligator).
Overall, she is lacking in power, so I would get rid of her quickly before she
brings out her heavy hitters. Slightly more difficult than Yugi, but still
very beatable.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joey Wheeler
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
1x Red-Eyes B. Dragon
1x Battle Steer
1x Garoozis
1x Lava Battleguard
1x Summoned Skull
2x Swamp Battleguard
3x Alligator's Sword
1x Axe Raider

Magic:
------
1x Change of Heart
1x Heavy Storm
1x Graceful Charity
1x Monster Reborn
1x Polymerization
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
1x Sword of Dragon's Soul
Traps:
------
1x Magic Jammer
1x Magic-Arm Shield
1x Mirror Force
1x Skull Dice
Fusion:
-------
I believe he uses B. Skull Dragon and Thousand Dragon, and possibly Alligator's
Sword Dragon, but I have not seen him pull any Fusions on me, so I can't be
sure.
Description:
------------
He is definitely a step up from Yugi and Tea here, because he is packing some
power monsters (like the Red-Eyes B. Dragon and Summoned Skull), as well as
powerful Magic and Trap cards. The opponents you face in the future will have
similar cards, so this will be a good test to see if you can hang with the big
boys or not.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tristan Taylor
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
1x Ansatsu
1x Pendulum Machine

1x Unknown Warrior of Fiend
1x Vishwar Randi
Magic:
------
1x Dark-Piercing Light

1x Legendary Sword
1x Monster Reborn
1x Mooyan Curry
1x Soul of the Pure
1x Sword of Dark Destruction
Traps:
------
1x Gryphon Wing
1x Seven Tools of the Bandit
Description:
------------
Tristan is definitely a step down from Joey, around the same level as Yugi and
Tea. Most of his monsters are weak and vulnerable. He does run some 2000
defense monsters, which may give you trouble, but overall, this is an easy win.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bakura Ryou
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
Monsters:
---------
1x Dokurorider
1x King of Yamimakai
1x Pumpking the King of Ghosts

1x Monster Reborn
1x Pot of Greed
1x Revival of Dokurorider
1x Wasteland
Traps:
------
1x Magic Jammer
1x Spellbinding Circle
1x Trap Hole
Description:
------------
Because Konami can't translate worth anything, they used the Japanese format of
writing names for a couple of names. This is an example. His name in English
would be Ryou Bakura, but it's kind of a moot point, because everyone refers to
him as "Bakura", similarly to how Joey is referred to by his last name
"Jounouchi" in the Japanese version.
Bakura runs a Zombie deck. Plain and simple. Zombie decks are based around
the Castle of Dark Illusions and Pumpking the King of Ghosts to pump their
power up. Bakura is also the first duelist to use a Ritual monster
(Dokurorider), but what I would be careful for is his 3 Dark Elfs. 2000 attack
power for a Level 4 will destroy the vast majority of monsters in this game.
Try to get him down low in LP so he won't be able to pay the 1000 LP to attack
with them.

TIER 2
===============================================================================
If you defeat each opponent in Tier 1 twice, you will unlock Tier 2. This tier
is centered around Battle City duelists.

1x Megazowler
1x Summoned Skull
1x Sword Arm of Dragon
2x Twin-Headed Fire Dragon
3x Blackland Fire Dragon
2x Crawling Dragon #2
1x Dragon Zombie
1x Giant Rat
3x Giant Soldier of Stone
1x Little D
3x Magician of Faith
2x Trakadon
3x Two-Headed King Rex
2x Uraby
2x Witch of the Black Forest
Magic:
------
1x Change of Heart
1x Dark Hole
1x Graceful Charity
1x Heavy Storm
1x Monster Reborn
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
1x Snatch Steal
1x Wasteland
Traps:
------
1x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
Description:
------------
Rex's deck is geared towards Dinosaurs and Dragons. While not totally
overpowering, this deck is still a force to be reckoned with. Once he gets his
high-level hitters onto the field, he will literally run you over. The biggest
threats may be the Giant Soldier of Stones, as they will protect his Life
Points and let him quickly Tribute to get out his stronger beasts. Get rid of
those, and it's fairly easy sailing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Espa Roba
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
1x Cyber-Tech Alligator
2x Giant Mech-Soldier
1x Jinzo
2x Machine King
1x Pendulum Machine
1x Reaper of the Cards
2x Big Eye
1x Blast Juggler
2x Blast Sphere
1x Ceremonial Bell
2x Cyber Falcon
1x Cyber Jar
2x Dimensional Warrior
2x Disk Magician
2x Giga-tech Wolf
2x Holograh
2x Mechanicalchaser
Magic:
------
2x 7 Completed
1x Change of Heart
1x Dark Hole
1x Giant Trunade
1x Heavy Storm
1x Monster Reborn
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Raigeki
Traps:
------
1x Imperial Order
1x Negate Attack
1x Seven Tools of the Bandit
1x Time Machine
Description:
------------
As you notice by first glance, his deck is Machine-based. (Bandit Keith,
anyone?) If he gets enough Machines out, his Machine King can become a real
hassle (as it was in the Yugi vs. possessed BK duel). The card you want to
prevent him from playing, however, is Jinzo. This powerful card not only has
high attack for a Level 6, it also negates all Traps on the field. Yep, you
heard me, ALL traps. No Mirror Force, no Magic Jammer, no Trap Hole, no
NOTHING. Once Jinzo hits the field, if you have traps that you need to win the
game, get rid of Jinzo quickly, or you may never get the chance to use them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Weevil Underwood
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
2x Insect Queen
1x Cyber Jar
1x Dark Elf
3x Flying Kamakiri #2
2x Giant Rat
2x Gemini Elf
2x Gokibore
3x Man-Eater Bug
2x Mechanical Spider
2x Needle Worm
3x Parasite Paracide
1x Sinister Serpent
2x Witch of the Black Forest
Magic:
------
1x Change of Heart
1x Dark Hole
1x Forest
1x Graceful Charity
1x Harpie's Feather Duster
1x Monster Reborn
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
1x Snatch Steal
1x Swords of Revealing Light
Traps:
------
2x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
Description:
------------
As in the anime, Weevil uses an Insect-based deck. While the Great Moth is
missing, he uses another powerful monster, Insect Queen. Try to keep the field
clear so Insect Queen can't be played. If it does get played, make sure to
destroy all other monsters that he plays, so it won't be able to attack. The
other threats here are Needle Worm, Gemini Elf, and Dark Elf. They can leave
you crippled. Parasite Paracide is nothing more than a mere annoyance that can
be dealt with.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mako Tsuami
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
1x Fortress Whale
1x Suijin
3x 7 Colored Fish
1x Dark Elf
2x Great White
3x Magician of Faith
1x Penguin Knight
3x Penguin Soldier
3x Red Archery Girl
1x Sinister Serpent
2x Star Boy
Magic:
------
1x Axe of Despair
1x Change of Heart
1x Dark Hole
1x Fortress Whale's Oath
1x Heavy Storm
1x Harpie's Feather Duster
1x Monster Reborn
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
1x Snatch Steal
2x Swords of Revealing Light
1x Umi
Traps:
------
2x Kunai with Chain
1x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
1x Seven Tools of the Bandit
Description:
------------
Oh, look, his deck is mostly Water-type monsters. What a surprise. However,
I'd be careful here. He likes to use his Penguin Soldiers to clear the field,
then attack mercilessly with 7 Colored Fish and Star Boy. Suijin and Fortress
Whale often don't hit the field, but they are forces to be reckoned with, so be
prepared for the fury of the sea.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mai Valentine
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monsters:
---------
2x Harpie's Pet Dragon
1x Beautiful Headhuntress
1x Blue-Winged Crown
2x Faith Bird
3x Harpie Lady
3x Harpie's Brother
1x Invader of the Throne
2x Kanan the Swordmistress
1x Morphing Jar
2x Red Archery Girl
1x Sonic Maid
1x Spirit of the Books
1x Wall of Illusion
2x Witch of the Black Forest
Magic:
------
1x Change of Heart
2x Cyber Shield
1x Dark Hole
1x Electro-Whip
1x Elegant Egotist
1x Graceful Charity
1x Harpie's Feather Duster
1x Monster Reborn
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
2x Rising Air Current
1x Snatch Steal
Traps:
------
2x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
1x Seven Tools of the Bandit
Description:
------------
Her deck is not completely based on Harpie Lady here, but instead is a
combination of Wind and female monsters. Rising Air Current can make her
Harpie's Brothers and Harpie Ladies formidable monsters, so get rid of it as
quickly as you can. Harpie's Pet Dragon rarely makes it to the field, and even
when it does, it starts out at a meager 2000 attack points, which can be dealt
with. Throw in a couple Harpie Ladies and Rising Air Current, however, and
you're in trouble. Beware =X
===============================================================================
TIER 3
===============================================================================
If you defeat each opponent in Tier 2 thrice (3 times), you will unlock Tier 3.
This tier is dedicated to the Rare Hunter organization that pollutes the Battle
City tournament.

Rare Hunter
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
2x Big Eye
3x Cannon Soldier
1x Exodia the Forbidden One
1x Giant Soldier of Stone
1x Left Arm of the Forbidden One
1x Left Leg of the Forbidden One
3x Magician of Faith
1x Mystic Tomato
2x Penguin Soldier
1x Right Arm of the Forbidden One
1x Right Leg of the Forbidden One
2x Sangan
3x Skelengel
2x Witch of the Black Forest
Magic:
------
1x Change of Heart
1x Dark Hole
2x Giant Trunade
2x Graceful Charity
1x Harpie's Feather Duster
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
2x Swords of Revealing Light
Traps:
------
1x Horn of Heaven
1x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
1x Negate Attack
1x Seven Tools of the Bandit
Description:
------------
He only has one set of Exodia here (unlike in the anime/manga, where he has
three) here, and his ENTIRE DECK is based around getting Exodia into his hand.
The easiest way to defeat him is to simply use Delinquent Duo, Confiscation, or
any method to get 1 part into the Graveyard. If you can get 1 part into the
Graveyard, the only other strategy he has is to do direct damage with Cannon
Soldier, and he might not have enough monsters left to do that. If he ran the
Painful Choice/Backup Soldier combo, though, he'd definitely be powerful,
almost as powerful as in the anime. (Don't tell Konami I said that >_<).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arkana
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
3x Dark Magician
1x Dark Magician Girl
1x Cannon Soldier
3x Dark Elf
1x Dark Rabbit
3x Giant Soldier of Stone
3x Man-Eater Bug
2x Penguin Soldier
2x Sangan
1x Sinister Serpent
3x Skelengel
Magic:
------
1x Change of Heart

2x Graceful Charity
1x Harpie's Feather Duster
1x Monster Reborn
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Pot of Greed
2x Premature Burial
1x Raigeki
1x Snatch Steal
2x Swords of Revealing Light
Traps:
------
1x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
1x Seven Tools of the Bandit
Description:
------------
While not as powerful as in the anime, this Dark Magician deck can still give
you trouble. The major threat is probably the Dark Magician Girl. If he gets
all of his Dark Magicians in the Graveyard, DMG gets 2900 attack power for one
Tribute, which can only be paralleled by a highly-charged Shadow Ghoul. Can
you escape Pandora's Box?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Strings
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
1x Summoned Skull
2x Dark Elf
2x Dimensional Warrior
2x Hane-Hane
2x Magician of Faith
3x Morphing Jar
2x Needle Worm
1x Penguin Knight
2x Penguin Soldier
2x The Bistro Butcher
2x Witch of the Black Forest
Magic:
------
1x Change of Heart
1x Dark Hole
2x Graceful Charity
1x Harpie's Feather Duster
1x Monster Reborn
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
1x Snatch Steal
1x Swords of Revealing Light
3x Tremendous Fire
Traps:
------
2x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
2x Numinous Healer
1x Seven Tools of the Bandit
Description:
------------
Here, Strings is all about one thing: decking his opponent. The Needle Worms
and Morphing Jars will each sap 5 cards from your deck, and The Bistro Butchers
can get 2 per hit. To ensure that your monsters don't get in the way, he uses
Dimensional Warrior, Hane-Hane, and Penguin Soldier to clear your field. Light
of Intervention, Ceasefire, and Nobleman of Crossout will work well here to at
least diminish the threat of his multiple Flip effect monsters.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Umbra & Lumis
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
1x Labyrinth Wall
2x Millennium Golem
1x Millennium Shield
1x Shadow Ghoul
2x Blast Sphere
2x Crass Clown
1x Cyber Jar
2x Gemini Elf
2x Hane-Hane
1x Man-Eater Bug
2x Morphing Jar
2x Penguin Soldier
2x The Bistro Butcher
2x Vorse Raider
2x Wall of Illusion
Magic:
------
1x Change of Heart
1x Giant Trunade
1x Heavy Storm
1x Monster Reborn
1x Pot of Greed
1x Snatch Steal
2x Swords of Revealing Light
Traps:
------
1x Horn of Heaven
1x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
1x Seven Tools of the Bandit
1x Spellbinding Circle
1x Trap Hole
1x Widespread Ruin
Description:
------------
Here, since they are one duelist, they radically change their strategy from the
anime/manga, and instead like to bounce your monsters back to your hand. When
this is accomplished, Morphing Jar sends them all to the Graveyard. Sounds
like fun, doesn't it? Again, use cards that eliminate the threat of Flip
effects to counter this annoying strategy. Watch out for their high level
monsters, because not many attackers can break through their rock-solid
defenses.

Marik Isthar
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
1x Dragon Seeker
1x Millennium Golem
1x Cyber Jar
3x Dream Clown
3x Gemini Elf
2x Jinzo #7
3x Magician of Faith
3x Man-Eater Bug
1x Morphing Jar
1x Morphing Jar #2
1x The Bistro Butcher
2x Vorse Raider
3x White Magical Hat
Magic:
------
1x Change of Heart
2x Delinquent Duo
1x Monster Reborn
2x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
1x Sebek's Blessing
1x Snatch Steal
Traps:
------
2x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
1x Trap Hole
1x White Hole
Description:
------------
Since he doesn't have his God card here, he will just clear the field, then
destroy your hand. All you have to do is defeat him before he does this.
Sound simple? It isn't. Good luck. Just use lots and lots of power and you
can defeat the darkness.

TIER 4
===============================================================================
If you defeat each opponent in Tier 3 four times, you will unlock Tier 4. This
tier deals with those related to Ancient Egypt and the Millennium Items.

2x Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon
Description:
------------
NOTE: Horrid translation strikes again. In English, his name is "Seto Kaiba",
but since everyone just calls him Kaiba (except Mokuba), the point is semi-
moot. Excuse my pickiness
Kaiba is all about power in the anime, but here, he plays with less raw power
and more strategy. He still focuses on power, but there's a little more to it
here. There's just one problem. His Hoshinigens shut down his Koumori Dragon
and Vorse Raiders, which could be an issue for him and an opportunity for you.
As long as he doesn't get BEWD on the field, you'll be cool. Just be careful
for Cyber-Stein. If he gets it on the field, he will pay 5000 LP to special
summon a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon to the field, and THEN you'll be in trouble.
Man-Eater Bug or similar methods can eliminate it, but if you have to take the
4500 LP hit, odds are you won't be able to take much more. Good luck.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ishizu Isthar
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
2x Blue-Eyes White Dragon
2x Banisher of the Light
3x Dunames Dark Witch
3x Hoshinigen
3x Maha Vailo
2x Neo the Magic Swordsman
3x Shining Fairy
Magic:
------
3x Axe of Despair
1x Change of Heart
1x Dark Hole
2x Giant Trunade
1x Harpie's Feather Duster
2x Luminous Spark
1x Monster Reborn
2x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
Traps:
------
1x Horn of Heaven
2x Magic Jammer
2x Metalmorph
1x Mirror Force
1x Solemn Judgment
Description:
------------
Unlike Kaiba, she takes FULL advantage of Hoshinigen and Luminous Spark by
creating an all-Light deck. The most dangerous monster she has is Maha Vailo,
because not only is it boosted by Hoshinigen and Luminous Spark, but she also
gets a 500 point bonus for any Equip cards attached to her, IN ADDITION TO the
effects of the Equip card. If Ishizu attaches Maha Vailo with an Axe of
Despair, her attack power will be 3050, higher than the Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
If she combos this with Hoshinigen and Luminous Spark, it's ouch time. Try not
to rely on Dark-type monsters too much, because they will get mowed down after
being decreased by Hoshinigen. Good luck.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shadi
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
1x Gyakutenno Megami
2x Millennium Golem
3x Orion the Battle King
2x Reaper of the Cards
2x Banisher of the Light
3x La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp
3x Lord of Zemia
3x Magician of Faith
3x Needle Worm
1x Sinister Serpent
Magic:
------
1x Change of Heart
1x Dark Hole
1x Dian Keto the Cure Master
1x Monster Reborn
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
1x Tribute to the Doomed
Traps:
------
1x Anti Raigeki
1x Call of the Dark
2x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
2x Seven Tools of the Bandit
1x Solemn Judgment
1x White Hole
Description:
------------
Shadi is probably the weakest duelist this late in the game. His monsters are
not overly strong, and he relies on too many high-level monsters. His annoying
array of traps can give you problems, though, as he will almost always have
something to negate your next play. Beware the Needle Worm/Banisher of the
Light combo, it will run your Deck right out of the game.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yami Bakura
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
2x Summoned Skull
2x Dimensional Warrior
1x Dream Clown
3x Gemini Elf
1x Giant Soldier of Stone
2x Kuriboh
3x Magician of Faith
2x Man-Eater Bug
1x Masked Sorcerer

1x Dark Hole
2x Graceful Charity
1x Harpie's Feather Duster
2x Heavy Storm
1x Monster Reborn
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
1x Swords of Revealing Light
Traps:
------
1x Kunai with Chain
2x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
Description:
------------
This guy is pretty good. His deck has enough diversity to keep you guessing,
but enough strength to grind you to a fine pulp. Try to play like him, with a
good balance of strategy and power. The AI may be good, but, trust me, it's
not unbeatable. Watch your step and you should be OK.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yami Yugi
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
1x Buster Blader
2x Dark Magician
1x Valkyrion the Magna Warrior
2x Dark Magician Girl
2x Summoned Skull
1x Alpha the Magnet Warrior
1x Beta the Magnet Warrior
2x Big Shield Gardna
1x Cyber Jar
1x Gamma the Magnet Warrior
1x Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts
2x Gemini Elf
1x Giant Soldier of Stone
2x Kuriboh
1x Mystical Elf
1x Sinister Serpent
2x Witch of the Black Forest
Magic:
------
1x Change of Heart
1x Chorus of Sanctuary
2x Graceful Charity
1x Harpie's Feather Duster
1x Monster Reborn
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
1x Snatch Steal
1x Swords of Revealing Light
Traps:
------
1x Anti Raigeki
2x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
1x Seven Tools of the Bandit
1x White Hole
Description:
------------
Now THIS is more like what Yugi's deck should be. Another superbly balanced
deck, although slightly reliant on high-level monsters. Try to prevent him
from gathering all 3 Magnet Warriors (Alpha, Beta, Gamma), because Valkyrion is
a very powerful monster at 3500/3850. Also watch out for Dark Magician Girl.
If he gets both his Dark Magicians in the Graveyard, DMG will have 2600 attack
power, which is very high for a Level 6 monster. Honestly, I'm surprised he
doesn't use Magician of Black Chaos or Black Luster Soldier, but that just
makes him that much easier to beat, eh?
===============================================================================
TIER 5
===============================================================================
If you defeat each opponent in Tier 4 five times, you will unlock Tier 5. This
tier is for special opponents. At first, only the Duel Computer is a playable
opponent. You must unlock the others:
Simon Muran: Win the National Championships in November.
Maximillion Pegasus: Acquire the "Toon World" card from either a booster pack
or by password.
Trusdale: Defeat Simon Muran one time.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Duel Computer
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
1x Cyber Jar
2x Gemini Elf
3x Magician of Faith
3x Man-Eater Bug
2x Mask of Darkness
3x Morphing Jar
2x Morphing Jar #2
1x The Bistro Butcher
3x White Magical Hat
2x Witch of the Black Forest
Magic:
------
1x Change of Heart
1x Dark Hole
2x Delinquent Duo
3x Gravekeeper's Servant
1x Harpie's Feather Duster
1x Monster Reborn
2x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Raigeki
1x Snatch Steal
Traps:
------
2x Bell of Destruction
1x Call of the Haunted
1x Mirror Force
1x Negate Attack
Description:
------------
The strategy here is literally hand/deck destruction in its purest form. If he
ran 3 Needle Worms as well, then he'd be scary X_X. Most of his monsters are
not that strong, however, so if you get a consistent amount of power going and
find a way to deal with all the Flip effects and such, you shouldn't have a
problem. Run a larger deck if you have to. In fact, a good strategy here is
to face fire with fire and create a deck similar to this, but with more cards.
That way, he decks himself first =/
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Simon Muran
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
2x Total Defense Shogun
1x Banisher of the Light
2x Cannon Soldier

3x Magician of Faith
2x Mask of Darkness
2x Muka Muka
2x Panther Warrior
2x Sangan

1x Harpie's Feather Duster
2x Heavy Storm
1x Monster Reborn
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
1x Snatch Steal
1x Swords of Revealing Light
Traps:
------
1x Imperial Order
1x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
1x Seven Tools of the Bandit
Description:
------------
This is a...........unusual deck. I think the theme here is monsters with
unusual effects (like Total Defense Shogun, Panther Warrior, and Muka Muka).
In any case, he's normally not horribly difficult. If you can stand up to all
the discard decks, you can stand up to a little oddness as well.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maximillion Pegasus
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
-----
Monsters:
---------
1x Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon
1x Manga Ryu-Ran
3x Toon Summoned Skull
1x Cyber Jar
2x Dark-Eyes Illusionist
3x Nimble Momonga
3x Red Archery Girl
2x Relinquished
2x Rogue Doll
1x Sinister Serpent
3x Vorse Raider
2x Witch of the Black Forest
Magic:
------
2x Black Illusion Ritual
1x Change of Heart
1x Dark Hole
1x Graceful Charity
1x Harpie's Feather Duster
1x Megamorph
1x Monster Reborn
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
1x Swords of Revealing Light
2x Toon World
Traps:
------
1x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
1x Solemn Judgment
1x Time Machine
Description:
------------
Toons are abundant here. Once he slaps Toon World on the field, get it off the
field as quickly as you can. Otherwise, his Toons will rip through your
defenses and give you a nice direct whack in the head. Aside from his Toons,
he's a standard duelist at this level, with strong monsters and powerful
spells. The Toons slightly weigh him down a little, so he shouldn't put up too
much of a fight if he doesn't get them out. I'd beware of Relinquished,
though, because he can steal one of your monsters and their statistics. He
rarely gets it out, though.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trusdale
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deck:
Sugoroku
Monsters:
---------
1x Blue-Eyes White Dragon
1x Summoned Skull
1x Big Eye
1x Exodia the Forbidden One
1x Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts
3x Gemini Elf
1x Left Arm of the Forbidden One
1x Left Leg of the Forbidden One
3x Mystical Elf
3x Penguin Soldier
1x Right Arm of the Forbidden One
1x Right Leg of the Forbidden One
2x Sangan
2x Witch of the Black Forest
Magic:
------
1x Change of Heart
2x Giant Trunade
2x Graceful Charity
1x Harpie's Feather Duster
1x Monster Reborn
1x Pot of Greed
1x Raigeki
1x Snatch Steal
2x Swords of Revealing Light
Traps:
------
1x Anti Raigeki
1x Imperial Order
1x Magic Jammer
1x Mirror Force
1x Spellbinding Circle
1x White Hole
Description:
------------
I don't know how they came up with Trusdale for his name. That would make his
official English name Solomon Trusdale, which makes no sense, because I thought
it was Solomon Muto (they even said it in the show). Methinks Konami is
playing with our heads again X_X
He has his Blue-Eyes here, as well as Exodia and a powerful line-up of monsters
and spells. This is the third time you've faced Exodia, but this time, if
Exodia is gone, the game is not necessarily over. He has enough power monsters
to compensate for losing Exodia. That doesn't mean he won't try to get it,
however. This game will test your skills to the max, and it should,
considering he's the final opponent. If you can defeat him, you've become
pretty damn good at this game. Congratulations =)

6. BOOSTER PACKS---------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After you win a duel/match, you will be allowed to pick a booster that will
contain 5 cards. Most of these boosters are modeled after boosters in the
actual OCG from Japan. Some of these boosters will contain rare cards, which
are highlighted when you pick them. The approximate odds of a rare are around
1:3 to 1:5 packs, depending on how lucky you are. You will only start out with
3 boosters, but this number can grow up to 23 by the time you reach the "end"
of the game. (In all honesty, you could play this game forever if you wanted
to.) Here is a quick run-down of the booster packs, in the order that they
appear on the selection screen, and how to unlock them:
Dark Magician - One of your original selections
Mystical Elf - One of your original selections
Red-Eyes Black Dragon - One of your original selections
Harpie Lady - Defeat each opponent in Tier 1 10 times
Gate Guardian Parts - Get 10 overall wins in Tier 2
Great Moth - Defeat each opponent in Tier 2 10 times
Launcher Spider - Defeat Mai Valentine 20 times
Blue-Eyes White Dragon - Defeat Yugi Muto 20 times
Exodia - Defeat Joey Wheeler 20 times
Relinquished - Get 10 overall wins in Tier 3
Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon - Defeat Marik Isthar 20 times
Buster Blader - Defeat Yami Yugi 20 times
Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon - Finish Tier 3
Black Luster Soldier - Defeat each opponent in Tier 3 10 times
Judge Man - Get 10 overall wins in Tier 1
Tiger Axe - Finish Tier 1
Gemini Elf - Defeat Mako Tsunami 20 times
Millennium Puzzle Blue - Get 10 overall wins in Tier 4
Millennium Puzzle Green - Defeat each opponent in Tier 4 10 times
Millennium Eye - Defeat Kaiba Seto 20 times
Garoozis - Finish Tier 2
Battle Ox - Defeat Umbra & Lumis 20 times
Millennium Puzzle Orange - Defeat Simon Muran 1 time
In addition, there are special boosters that you can access at certain times:
*Weekly Yu-Gi-Oh!
*(Monthly) Yu-Gi-Oh! Magazine
*Grandpa Cup (defeating the final opponent)
*National Championships (defeating the final opponent, but these are the same
cards that you find in Millennium Puzzle Orange, the final booster)
*Random duels (2/3 matches with random fields or Rare Hunters)
Without further ado, here's the list!
Currently Incomplete (to the best of my knowledge):
---------------------
Millennium Puzzle Blue
Millennium Puzzle Green
Millennium Eye
Battle Ox
Weekly Yu-Gi-Oh!
Yu-Gi-Oh! Magazine
Grandpa Cup
Random Duels
NOTE: Cards with (1) or (2) next to them are cards with 2 different designs.
The (1) or (2) designates the design it is. For more information, check the
Card List.
