Now it goes just a little further. From now on version numbers will only come if I have made significant progress. Version .03. There is quite a bit added to this version. There is now a section area and the walkthrough is more complete. Version .01. This is the first version of the faq new information will be added about each version as it is updated for now just look around and find out what you can. I made this faq for a number of reasons. I enjoy the few games of the Custom Robo series that I have played and hope in making this faq I will raise awareness of its existence. I don't know any Japanese so this FAQ won't exactly be the best and will take quite awhile to complete. Table of contents 1 Walkthrough 2 Areas 3 Q & A 4 credits Section 1 Walkthrough Part one the beginning After you fill out your name you will get into a conversation with your mom. Selecting the first option will just make her go on for a few minutes with the conversation and the screen will blackout and the conversation will start all over again. Selecting the second option will make you go into a different conversation were you will receive all the parts for your first Custom Robo. After that you will get into a conversation with some boy (the boy is you?), Just keep selecting the first option and eventually you will go to the town map. Currently there are only two places where you can go on the town map. One of them is your house where you will get into a short conversation with your mom and you will leave. The other is the area where the tournaments take place. When you go there you and a receptionist have some sort of talk it appears there explaining Custom Robo's. when you get done listening to them you can select the parts you want your Custom Robo to use with the first option. I believe the second option allows you to view your opponent's equipment while the third allows you to see the layout of the battlefield. I believe the fourth option allows you to view information on the tournaments it's all written so if you don't know Japanese you will have a hard time with that as this game hasn't been released in any other language as far as I know. Finally the 5th and last option allows you to start a battle which you were just challenged to. Part two explanation of battle and your first battle When a battle starts some sort of device when the countdown goes to 1 shoots two cubes. The red is you and the blue is your opponent. You get released from it and can start the battle as soon as the number on your cube reaches one. The number it starts out on is random, Whoever gets out of there's first has an advantage as they can get a good first hit on the other while there still in there box. Once you get out you can move in any direction thanks to your jet pack. You don't really have to aim because your Custom Robo does it for you. Try to focus on avoiding being attacked. One good tactic that I use is getting behind something when they fire and right after while there getting ready for another guy I fire at them. The A button allows you to jump fast in any direction. The B button fires your regular gun. The L and R buttons fire whatever weapon you have equipped on your shoulders. The first enemy in you fight is too easy. He hardly fires and gets way too close. Just run after him or stay put either way just keep firing and you will easily beat this guy. Later your opponent's are much more skilled but this is your first tournament so it's expected that the enemy doesn't know what he's doing. Actually he's quite good at dodging your attacks he would be a real threat if he actually fired once in awhile. You don't get anything for beating him but afterwards you get into a conversation with this girl and then you can use the same option that I listed as battle to fight her. This next battle with that girl you just talked to is much harder. She displays quite impressive offensive tactics so it would be best to play defense. It's a good idea to use the terrain to your advantage. Just get behind something and when she shows her face blast her and then go somewhere else until she follows. Repeat until you're the victor. After you beat her you are introduced to some smug looking punk a coat a tie and hair that only stays in that position in video games. He gives you a new gun so maybe he's not all that bad but he really looks stuck up. The new gun is quite nice. It may not be as powerful but it fires many more rounds each time making it easier to hit. When you select the option I listed as tournament you engage him in a battle. He is quite different from your first two opponents as he can become invisible at times. You still aim at him perfectly when he's invisible and after he is shot and when he shoots he becomes visible again. He usually gets pretty close before he attacks. It's easy to use this to your advantage just get at a distance and fire, keep him at a distance at all times and he will rarely attack. As long as you stick with this strategy he should be no problem. After the battle you start talking to that smug looking kid. I can't tell what it's about but the conversation seems a bit intense. After that you go home and start talking to your mom. Then you go back to where the receptionist is and you will have 5 options. I'm not sure what the first 4 are for but the last one is what you want to choose if you want to battle in the tournaments. I believe you need to advance in the tournaments to be allowed to do anything with those other options. After that there will be 5 new options. The first one will allow you to compete in the tournaments. I believe the second allows you to view information about the arenas you have visited before. The third option takes you back to those 5 options I mentioned earlier. I'm not quite sure about the fourth option. I tried it and got into some conversation with two kids maybe there giving you tips or something. The last option is to exit the building. Part three the C class tournaments I suggest starting the C class tournament as that is the only one you have access to and there isn't anything else worthwhile that you can do at this point. Within the C class tournament there are 4 mini tournaments that lead up to the one big tournament that will allow you to proceed. All except the first tournament will have a fee for entering, So even if they allowed you to do another one you wouldn't be able to compete as you don't start this game with any money (It seems just like me this kid the games about doesn't get an allowance I hope his parents don't use the allowance is communism and we don't support that type of thing excuse). Now once you enter there are quite a few options. Only the first second third and last are important. The first will allow you to change the parts your custom Robo has equipped. The second will allow you to view your opponent's equipment. The third will allow you to view the map and the last will start the battle. If you changed from the gun you started with to the one the smug kid gave you, you probably won't need to upgrade your equipment for awhile if you try hard. You could probably clear all of C class maybe even more if you have the skill with that gun and the parts you started with. Who you fight in some of the upcoming tournaments seems to have somewhat of a random element. Different people might win making you fight different people. The first battle is between you the blue guy (there isn't a real portrait like for other characters just a little walking sprite with blue hair) and the red haired boy that you see in the beginning and thought the game. I am not quite sure who he is but so far he seems the most important to the plot. Now the red haired boy has offensively defensive tactics (pun intended). I suggest doing the same and keeping at a distance. Just shoot when he gets close or whenever you think you can nail him. This battle isn't too hard. After that battle the next person "I" fought in the tournament was a kid with what looks like a blue hair net. The best strategy for this guy is a good offense. Stay as close as you can and nail him whenever he's not blinking (for just a second when there getting up from being knocked down they start blinking and for that time are invincible). When he first gets up you should quickly dash out of his way before he gets a chance to fire a few shots at you. Congratulations. You have beaten the first part of the C class tournament and gotten 500 of whatever unit of measuring they use. Since this is a Japanese game were just going to call it Yen, so you just got 500 Yen. The receptionist gives you a new gun part for winning. You know have access to a shop that sells parts for Custom Robo's. Buy some and experiment if you want but at least keep some money left over so you can participate in the next tournament. If you go back to your house and in your room (to get there select the first option when talking to your mom) you can save the game. To participate in the second part of the C class tournament you need to pay a registering fee or something like that of 50 Yen. But this tournament will give you more money if you win so it's worth it. Besides there is no other tournament besides the one you just did to participate in. In the first fight you will be up against that kid with the blue cap. I've looked at his Custom Robo and there doesn't seem to be any changes from the last time you fought him. His skill is about the same I suggest the same tactics for the last time you fought him. The only real difference between this time and last is the arena that your fighting in. Just ignore the spikes on the floor they don't seem to do anything. This next guy will be reffered to as the shinning teeth man, After that single shinning (probably gold) tooth he has on the right side of his mouth (that's my right not his). This guy is much more relaxed then your previous opponents. If you rush him (get as close as you can and nail him fast) you should not have much trouble. But try to keep Something In between you and him because he fires off those missiles every time he gets up. This guy is somewhat of a challenge but I beat him with a decent amount of health to spare. Congratulations you have beaten the second part of the C class tournament. In the tournaments ahead you will have more then just two opponents to face to win. If you didn't buy anything you should have 1150 Yen. The receptionist gives you a new Chest part for your Custom Robo (don't think it does too much good as those are cheap it's the gun parts that are expensive). Except for the amount of money and the new trophy nothing has really changed since the last tournament. The shop will not be carrying anything new at least not after that tournament. Next we have the third part of the C class tournament. The entrance fee is 100 Yen. There is an 800 Yen reward for first prize and 500 for second. But I don't suggest settling for second. For the first match I fought that girl that keeps showing up. The one that you talked to before the receptionist I think she introduced you to her. I suggest keeping your distance. Keep in mind that her secondary weapons seem to have the ability to go through the logs. Her bullets seem to be pretty accurate and she doesn't take a whole lot of damage. This battle is mostly about endurance. She was my first real challenge. If you keep your distance you may do well but she can really do a number on you if you get hit. Your second opponent seems to be the red haired boy that keeps showing up in the game. For this battle I once again suggest keeping your distance. His primary weapon seems to be the same as yours. If you stay a ways and fire when he comes at you this should be no problem. For the third match I fought the shiny teeth guy. He seems to be a little different from last time. His Custom Robo for the most part seems to be the same but now he has these missiles that paralyze you. They don't do much damage so I wouldn't worry too much. Just be careful to dodge, because once your down he can get quite a few shots off. He doesn't even have to let you go down he can just keep shooting you with that and you won't go down. This guy can be a real pain. Each time he gets you down he takes a huge chunk of your power before you get a chance to get away. Congratulations you have beaten the third part of the C class tournament. For doing this besides the money you get a new rocket part (note I don't know the actual names of these or what kind of parts they are I just say what the picture looks like). Nothing has really changed except your funds. The entrance fee for the next tournament is 150 Yen, but the rewards are quite a bit more then the last tournaments (1200 for first place). There aren't any changes I suggest making before then. Just go straight to the tournament. The first opponent I fought was the red haired kid again. One of his secondary weapons has changed it now looks like a bubble (kind of fits with the ice theme of the stage). This battle is a tough one his other secondary weapon is pretty dangerous it goes around shooting at you and you can't damage it. It isn't very accurate but trying to dodge him and that weapon at the same time can present a challenge. The second opponent I faced was the kid in the hair net (hair net cap, swimming cap whatever that blue thing on his head is) I'm not sure what's change since last time but this guy is more of a challenge. As far as I can see his Custom Robo hasn't changed, the game probably had him holding back quite a bit last time. I kept at a distance and eventually beat him. Although I haven't lost yet some of these battles are starting to get hard. Well your third opponent seems to be a new guy completely. He has two dark blue tattoos on his face. I think that this guy is supposed to be "one with his animal instincts" or something like that. Then there is this other guy with blue hair and a diamond on the middle of his forehead. I am not sure if there both supposed to be controlling the Custom Robo at the same time or what. The Custom Robo is definitely animal like. Besides being particularly fast the gun shoots in multiple directions at the same time and then the bullets come at you. This battle is quite a challenge. Congratulations you have beaten the 4th part of the C class tournament. You now meet a guy in a green jacket. He seems pretty important but I'm not sure why. After this you get to fight in the last part of the C class tournament this part is different from the others. You have three opponents. You have to fight each one of them to get through this tournament. For the first girl I suggest keeping your distance as usual but I find getting up close is also a good strategy. Just about anything works if you are good at dodging. For the shiny tooth guy I suggest keeping your distance as one of his secondary weapons does little damage but will make you fall down where he can get a couple of good shots. It looks a lot like 2 bubbles when he fires it. Because this guy is slow if you're really keep your distance (so far you can't see him) then you can beat him without almost any trouble at all. We now are once again fighting the punk looking kid. Remember his Custom Robo will stay invisible when he isn't firing or getting hit. But your Custom Robo will still aim at him so it doesn't really help him a lot. It just keeps you from knowing how far you are from him. Because of this I once again suggest keeping your distance. That seems to be my general strategy. Oh well. There is a gauge on the top left of the screen. All I know about it is when it runs out your enemy goes berserk for awhile. He will be using completely different moves and in general be a lot more powerful. You now get a new chest part and have access to the C class tournament. Before you can do anything there is quite a bit of talking. Just pick whichever options until you get out of it I don't think they make much of a difference. After awhile there will be a scene in a lab. I'm pretty sure this is where the story really takes off. In the trophies in SSMB they were talking about Illegal custom Robos. I think this is one of them. Just keep pressing whichever options until this ends. You now have access to a new location the lab. As far as I can tell everything you can do here is story related so unless you have to go there I'm not going to talk about it. Part four the B class tournaments After this you have an option as to what battle you do next. In the B class tournament you can do all except the last battle. I believe you have to do all the other parts first. I will do this from the first option which will cost the least amount to enter to the last. The first tournament has no entrance fee. My first opponent was a somewhat dorky looking kid wearing glasses. His Custom Robo looks pretty cool though. This battle is going to be tough. This guy actually knows what he's doing and has a good Custom Robo to prove it. His gun fires in multiple directions and then heads at you. His sub weapons are both really dangerous. One leaves behind a sort of explosion that can hurt you for a few seconds and the other is that little device that floats around trying to shoot you. I can't really give you any sure fire strategy. You're just going to have to wing it, but if you didn't take my advice and equip the weapon that the punk gave you then do it before this battle or your going to be in real trouble. My second battle was with a girl with pink hair and a tiara. I have to say her Custom Robo is pretty cute (Note she is using the same gun part you are). This is another really tough battle. After this tournament I'm going to experiment around and see what better stuff you can equip because this thing is just murder. The sub weapon that she primarily uses fires in two different directions. There will be two spiky balls floating around her that can hurt you if you touch them. They will come back pretty fast if you get rid of them so there is really no use in making a kamikaze attack into them. All this protection and she is still using the same gun part as you which seems to be a really good one I might add. You need to make this girl get down and stay down. She is by far harder then anyone you have faced so far. My last battle was with a guy with a sweat band around his head. It has a little blue symbol on it. The guy also has a mustache (Note his Custom Robo is using the same chip as you are from what I understand chip is a special ability When you press I think it was the A button you go really fast for a second that is your chip). This guy and some of his weapons seem to be able to go through walls. That cancels out the main strategy I've been using. His regular gun is a flame thrower. This guy can deal a lot of damage and doesn't seem to take much. After the battle something I really didn't understand happened. It seemed to be about the story so unless someone is going to fill me in I can't really comment on that. After the battle a chip and 2 new gun parts are available. The gun that costs 2600 is a pretty nice one. It's very easy to hit with because the bullets stop in mid air for a couple of seconds and then head straight for him. The new sub weapon that you got before the tournament is the one that creates a sort of fire barrier, so if you really liked that one or it annoyed you when the enemy was using it, it wouldn't be a bad weapon to change to. The Second part of the B class tournament. The entrance fee is 200 Yen; the first place prize is 2000. My first fight seems to be against those two guys we saw earlier, the one with the Jewel on his face and the one with paint on his face. This battle is really hard. I'm not sure what new equipment to get but I am really going to work on that after this battle and tell you what I find. I don't know how some of these battles in this area (I am specifically referring to this one for the time being) are beatable without amazing luck or skill. A lot of Japanese games are real hard core when it comes to the difficulty. Chances are if you are playing a game in the US that isn't really hard it was made easier because if it wasn't changed lots of kids would throw fits because they can't beat anything. The second battle of the second part (were so 31331 with our 22) is with this fat kid. He wears a beanie and sun glasses? What a dork. This is probably the kind of kid you see at school, always talking big especially with the ladies and harassing other students while doing squat. I don't know what his personality is supposed to be as I can't read Japanese but I can bet you whoever he is I am sure he is supposed to be a jerk. It's like that in games with the pretty guys too. Pretty girls can be nice but the pretty guys are almost always jerks. This battle is worse then your last. No wonder the kid's fat, he probably spends every single second thinking, talking, customizing his custom Robo. I won this battle without really relying on save states. But you may have to if you're not used to this kind of stuff. I'm not and it's hard to keep up with the changes in difficulty like this. Were not even half way through the game and the only guy crazy enough to write a faq for it has to an extent has relied on cheating (it's not like whoever is actually reading this faq bought the game). Anyways I suggest keeping your distance. With those two spiked balls an up close battle is not what you want and won't work to your advantage. He's got it good no matter what you do but if you keep your distance it's not quite as good for him. You're going to have a ball trying to dodge his attacks. More coming soon... Section 3 Areas This section lists the different places you can go in this game and when you will have access to them. There will also be a brief description of what you can do there. Your house: You have access to this as soon as you get access to the town map. If you select the first option when talking to your mom you can go to your room then by selecting the second option there you can save the game. You also start out there and you visit there sometimes. Tournament building: This is a very important place in the game. The tournaments which are what the game is mostly about take place here. When you get there the first option will allow you to access a tournament. Which ones you have access to depend on which ones you have already completed. First shop: This building says shop on it and is northeast from the tournament building. This is the first shop you have access to. When you first enter the shop you have two options. The first one is to continue shopping while the second one makes you leave. If you pick the first option you will be presented with three new options. Buy sell and leave. If you pick buy you will see the items that can be bought and for what price. If you pick the second option you will see a bunch of options for what kind of part you want to sell. Lab: you get this after completing the C class tournament. As far as I can tell everything you can do here is story related so unless you have to go there I'm not going to talk about it. But in the event that there is more that can be done here I will put it in an update in my faq. Section 3 Q & A Q: When was this game released? A: It was released in Japan on 07/26/02 Q: Was this game released in the US? A: No and it is not very likely that it will be anytime soon. Section 4 Credits: ur grandpa Copyright September 21st 2003
