I. Introduction -
Hi! And welcome to my Walkthrough/FAQ on Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
- I hope this guide will become of great use to you now and in the
future for this game. Castlevania is a vampire hunting game based
off the novel of Bram Stoker's Dracula, old monster movies, and
mythological creatures and such.
Your role? Stop the ressurection of Count Dracula at all cost. You
are Soma Cruz, a foreign exchange student who is currently studying
in Japan. And the year is 2035. While walking up to an ancient jap-
anense shrine to wittness a rare event: A Solar Eclipse. And upon
walking up the stairway our hero, Soma, is myseriously sucked in to
the dark eclipse. Only awakening a short time later in Dracul'a Ca-
stle, our hero is now stuck in a gateway between Earth and Hell it-
self. Why has Soma and his best friend Mina Hakuba been summoned
to this ancient and deadly place.
My name is Ryan "jestercolony" Nicholson and it is my role to help
YOU (yes YOU!) get through the towers of terror and the pits of the
abyss itself upon an adventure you will never forget.
This guide is a compelete walkthrough. All questions related to the
game will be found within this guides contents. If you need help on
particular parts then feel free to browse. I do have to warn you t-
hat this guide is not spoiler free. And if you wish not to be spoi-
led I highly suggest you use another guide. If not, you will find
this guide helpful on how to defeat certain bosses and how to evade
the particular demonic presence within the walls of the hell.
Dracula's Castle summons you; you up for the challenge?
You have been warned! Have a nice day ^_^;

Posioned: Soma's status' drops and his attack becomes weak. Enemies
will also hit him for harder. Use: Anti-Venom
Stoned: Soma will turn to stone. You need to mash buttons in order
to break him free. But becareful: Monsters will hit Soma
with double damage which will sometimes resault in an
instant death.
- Tips for Beginners
1. Always find a Save Room.
2. Never be afraid to use your potions.
3. Practice makes Perfect
4. Boost Soma's level (grind EXP points to level him up.)
5. Watch how the monsters attack so that you can evade them later.
6. Have fun ^^;
That pretty much covers how to play AOS on the GBA.
---------------------------
1. Story
---------------------------
The year is 2035 and a young Highschool Student named Soma Cruz has
been invited to witness a rare event: A Solar Eclipse. As the young
man is walking to the shrine to witness the event he starts to feel
strange. The stairway seemed a lot longer that day until the Eclip-
se finally took it's true form. By the time he comes to the top of
the shrine he is blinded by a myserious light.
Soma and his friend Mina have been sucked into Dracula's Castle.
He then meets a strange man - that is when his story begins...
--------------------------
2. Characters
--------------------------
Soma Cruz: A young foreign exchange student and Mina's best friend
Soma finds himself shrouded in mystery as he is sucked
in to Dracula's Castle. Unknown to him on where he is
he finds himself within the creature of chaos not know-
ing what to do.
Mina Hakuba: The daughter of the Hakuba Shrine's priest, Mina is
Soma's best friend. She finds herself stuck within
Dracula's Castle along with Soma and not knowing what
to do. The only thing she can do is offer Soma advice
and wisdom.
Genya Arikado: A young man (probably in his late 20s) is shrounded
in mystery. He seems cold-hearted at first. But he
quickly states that he and Soma are allies and share
the same "Dark" Power. His true identiy is unknown.
Hammer: A military man who was given a mission towards some Cult
activity. He eventully chickens out and sets up a shop that
Soma can use.
Yoko Belnades: Related to the old Belnades family (who in which had
helped the Belmonts long ago.) A witch who is worki-
ng for the Catholic Church - Yoko's mission is to
track down an evil man.
J: Nothing is really too know about this man. His past is shrounded
in mystery.
Graham Jones: A missionery and occult leader. He seems to be obess-
-ed with Dracula. What is his purpose and motive?
That is an unknown factor.
---------------------------
3. Walkhrough
---------------------------
At the start of the game you will be shown the prologue. As soon as
it is over you will be shown Dracula's Castle. The game will begin
and a dialogue scene will take place btween Soma, Mina and Genya
Arikado. At this point Soma and Mina are wondering where the heck
they are.
And at this point Arikado doesn't want small-talk. Soma then finds
out he and Mina are in Dracula's Castle and questions the strnage
man on how they got here. Out of no where Soma, Mina and Genya are
ambushed by a hoarde of undead. Genya preforms a magic spell annih-
-ilating all but one.
Soma then attacks theflying skeleton and gains the monsters
ability. Genya then explains to Soma that he has the ability to co-
-ntrol the souls of the monsters he destroys. Soma, being confused
wonders why he would have such a power. The strange man tells him
to head to the Master's Chamber, once there he will know all. He
also mentions that when he does this he will save his friend Mina's
life.
And so the game starts... Head right in to the next room.
---------------
A . Castle Corridor
---------------
Upon your arrival the music starts (yay 4 music!) and you be in a
room swarming with Zombies. Kill 'em off to level and to gain a
Cloth Tunic and a Baselard (recomend if you're patient.) If not
continue heading right until you reach the next room. In this room
make your way down the stairs killing off the bats. Once you have
reached the bottom you will see a door on the left. Ignore it for
now and kill off the Mermen.
As you probably know when you land in water Soma actually swims
(wow this is the first time this has happened in a CV game!) Now
get on top of the center platform and destroy the candle like thing
to obtain your first Ability-Type Soul. The Grave Keeper soul will
allow you to back dash away from enemies (so keep this in mind when
trying to avoid certain attacks...etc.)
Now continue heading right in to the next room. The room that we
are in right now is a Save Room they appear as a red room on your
map. Save your game and
leave and head up the stairs to the top. Instead of heading in to
the door way on the right you jump onto the platform in the middle
to obtain a Cape. Now head into the right room. In this hallway
kill off the skeletons and continue to the next room. Here you will
find an Axe Knight just kill him off. You will then come up to a
blue door. Don't head in here yet. Instead go up the stairs and
kill off the second Axe Knight and the Bone Archer.
After you have done this head to the room with the blue door. A
doorway like this is a Boss Chamber so take note of that.
----------------
- Boss - Creaking Skull
Recomended Level: 5
The first boss of AoS. This boss is actually very simple so don't
expect any quick controller reflexes for this fight. His first
attack is pretty basic. He'll come down upon you with his giant
bone club. Either back dash away from him or run away from him.
His second attack starts when he starts to glow. It means he is
ready to spit out a fire ball at you. Just duck under it. Continue
to attack him with regular weapons (the Axe soul does wonders for
this battle.) So he really shouldn't be that hard for you.
-----------------
After the battle just head to the right door way. In this next
room you will find a Castle map near a door way on the right.
Inside this next room is a Save Room so use it. After you have
done all this head to the bottom of this shaft until you come to
a Peeping Eye kill him off and attack the left wall (it's a fake
wall.) Inside you will find a Mind Up potion.
Now I would recomend is to keep going back in to this room and
killing off the Peeping Eye so you will gain it's ability to
see Fake walls (if you have the patience.) If or after you have
done that head in the next room on the right. In this room you will
have to deal with Killer Fish and bats, but if you are quick you
wont have a problem. On the other side of this room is your first
Enchant-Type soul known as Flying Armor. Which slowly decreases
your falling speed. You will be suing it soon so trust me this is
needed.
Now back track all the way to the save room. Now head up in to the
next room. In this portion contine heading up killing off the Bone
Archers and Blue Crows Also be careful when Buer runs into you.
Now head all the way up. Now you probably thinking (once you reach
the top) how the heck do I get over there? Simple. Just use the
Flying Armor soul to get across. In this next room kill off the
White Dragon and collect the Potion. Enter the next room and take
on the Axe Armor, Bone Soldiers and Skeleton Knights. Grab the
potion and leather armor on the left and right parts of the map
and head into the top right room.
In here take on the Bone Archers and so fourth and continue towards
the next room. In here take out the enemies and grab the potion on
the top left of the stairway. Now back track to the room where you
found the Leather Armor and head in to the room on the lower right.
Go along this long hallway killing off the badies and reaching the
other side. Just continue going right killing off the badies until
you reach outside. Head in the right door to find a Save Room. Drop
all the way down and head in the left room. Make your way around
this room until you come up to a room on lower right. In here you
will find a Potion, now head all the way left until you come to
another room - this is another water room. Just destroy the monste-
-rs and enter the room on the right to get $400! Now backtrack to
the save room and save. Once you have done that drop down and enter
the room on the right for a dialogue scene.
Soma will meet a strange man named Graham. He will then tell SOma
that you are actually infact in Dracula's Castle. He will then
tell you the back story of the game. Some how in 1999 a group of
Vampire Hunters sealed Dracula's spirit and castle in the Eclipse
destrotying his body completely. And that in the year 2035 a new
"Master" will be selected to gain all of Dracula's power.
Proceed down the hallway to a door. Enter it to get to the next
portion of the castle.
---------
B. Chapel
---------
Once you have entered this new place move foward until you have
reached a broken stairway. Jump on the stairs and head in to the
room above you. In this room kill off the Axe Armors and Bone
Pillars while making your way up the room using the platforms
and bells to get across. At the top right of this room you will
find a Mind Up Potion. Again make your way around the room to the
left side. Use the bells as platforms and jump over them. When you
reach the last one make a huge jump. Once down you can find a
Bamboo Sword in a corner. After that you can leave this room.
(Also if you notice you probably have found two huge potions you
cannot get these yet due to not having certain abilities.)
Now once we're back in the main hallway take out or dodge the Ghost
and enter the room on the right. Now in this room watch out for the
Giant Ghost and Tiny Devils. Once you have taken care of them it is
now time to decide on where to go. So instead of us heading down we
are going to go up.
Use the platforms and jump across them until you have come to yet
another broken set of stairs. Jump on top of the stairs and head
up. Make your way around the room killing off Durga's and Bone
Pillars. At the top right (in a corner) you will find the sword
Rappier. Once you have obtained that you are done here. Now return
to the other chamber and make your way down. You will come to a
shaft room. A room on the left holds a Save Room so use it if you
need it. Now drop all the way to the bottom and head in to the
left hallway door. In this room take out the Axe Armor and Urns
and the lone Skeleton. Then proceed to the Boss Chamber
-----------
- Boss - Manticore
Recomended Level: 10 (but I did it at 7)
In this room you will notice that there are bone head spikes on
the two top platforms on the right and left side of the room. So
don't bother jumping up there. This boss Battle can be simple.
Now when you move in close he will try to sting you with his
scorpion tail which will cause the status affect Posion. When he
crouches his mouth will start to glow and he will shoot a fire ball
at you. Just easily jump or duck it. When to avoid his tail just
back dash. The trick to wining this battle is to get in close and
just melee him while using either the Axe Armor ability or the
Rock Armor ability.
-----------
Once you have beat him return to the save room if you need to. If
not just continue to the next room. In this room kill of the Rock
Armors and Fleamen and just continue to the next room on the left.
Now in this room you'll head down the stairway and kill off the
Tiny Devil. Don't forget about killing the Zombie Officer at the
bottom. Enter the door on the right to enter the Study.
---------
C. Study
---------
From the door jump over the gamp and head in to the room on the
right. In this room take out the Durga's and Tiny Devil's. You
will then come to another shaft room. Just drop down and head in
the left door. In this room take out the Student Witches and
Giant Skulls. You will find the Bastard Sword on the left. After
you are done here back track to the levels entrance. Once back
here drop down the shaft avoiding the bone head spike traps and
Flying Skeletons. Drop all the way dwon until you reach your next
room. On the left in this room you'll find an Uncurse Potion. Now
head right taking out the the Evil Butchers, Giant Skulls and Bone
Pillars. Continue all the way right until your next room.
In this room you'll find a Box on the top platform. Ignore it for
now and drop all the way to the bottom of the area. Now enter the
left door. In this room watch out for Fleamen, Arachne. I also
would highly recomend to watch out for the Ectoplasm (they will
give you the Curse status affect if you they touch you.) Continue
to the next room.
In this room watch out for the Catoblepas' because if they blow
their breathe on you, you will be turned into stone. Also don't
forgot to watch out for the Ectoplasms and the Rock Armor. At the
top left of this room you will find a breakable wall. Inside it
will be a Melon. Now after you get everything done drop into the
shaft on the bottom left. In this room head into the first doorway
on the left for a Save Room. Now continue all the way to the right
room.
Inside you will meet your Fifth AoS character Yoko Belnades. And it
seems that she is a member of the Church. She then speaks of a man
named Aluca--and quickly cuts off and speaks of the strange man you
met earlier: Genya Arikado, whom which has given orders to Yoko to
watch over Soma. Apparently Soma and Genya have the same Dark
Powers... Soma as always being confused ask more question of this
"Dark" power. Yoko then explains to him that he has the ability
to Rule and COmmand over monsters. She then makes a mention of the
man you met earlier named Graham. Yoko believes that he will gain
all of Dracula's powers.
After the scene continue to the next room. In here take out the
Catoblepas, Ectoplasm and Minotaur and continue to the next vile
room. In this room you can drop down into the shaft. Instead head
in to the next room on the left to collect $100.00 after you have
done that drop down the shaft and head to the room on the right.
In here you will find a demonic like door that doesn't seem to open
but yet when you walk away it opens. The trick to getting in this
room is to back dash. As soon as you enter this room you will face
another Catoblepas. Just kill him off and continue all the way
up the room and head to the left and kill off the Student Witch
you will then find the Whip Sword in the corner. After you have
done this leave this area.
Now head straight to the Boss Chamber.
------
- Boss - Great Armor
Recomended Level: 15 (But I'm doing it at 10)
Don't let this bosses size intimidate you. He only has two minor
attacks which can be easily dodge. He will either swing is sword
down upon you or thrust it downwards toward you. Now you probably
are thinking how am I suppose to attack him when every time you
do it says "Guard", well it's because he's holding up a big shield.
Do you remember that whip sword that you obtained earlier? Use that
on him while ducking. (Hit his legs.) The sword is weak yes, but,
this is the easist way to kill 'em.
-----
After you have beaten the boss head in to the next room. Inside you
will meet your sixed character of the game: Hammer. He will call
Soma a child and Soma will take offense to it! ^^; And aparently
Hammer is a military man. Aparently the Army gave Hammer orders to
check out the Shrine. But ended up in the Castle Dracula instead.
So he pretty much wussed out and bailed on his mission. After that
you will know have an Item Shop. So go to the castle entrance if
you want to stock up on some armor, weapons and supplies.
Anyways after the scene destroy the candle looking thingy to get
another ability-type soul: Malphas; which allows you to double-jump
in mid air. Now head back to the save room. Once you are done here
back track to where we found that crate I told you to ignore.
Now once you have come to the crate push it off the ledge and over
to the right. Jump up to the platforms and collect the Broadsword.
Now leave the room and re-enter. Now the crate will be at the top
of the area again. Push it to the right and jump up the platform
and enter the new room to gain a Heart Pendant. Now we're done with
the box. Now back track to the Chaple.
-------
D. (A.) - Chapel
-------
Once we are here go to the top of the shaft. You should see a ledge
that was now impossible to reach reachable. Just double jump to it
and use the Flying Armor soul. In this room kill off the Zombie
Officers and dodge the Flying Skeletons. When you come to the next
room kill off the White Dragon. Move up and dodge/kill the Dancing
Ghost. Now head to top (bottom) left room. Inside kill off the Une
plant and collect the Anti-Venom. Now head to the top left room. In
here you will find your first Warp Room (they are marked as yellow
boxes on the map.) Now use it.
--------
E. (A.) Castle Carridor
--------
Now that we are back here make your way to upper levels of this ro-
-om while killing off Zombie Officers and Killer Dolls. At the mid
top part of the room you will find the fist weapon Cestus. Now make
your way to the Castle Entrance. Here you will find Hammer and Mina
talk to Mina to refill your health. Now here buy yourself a Castle
Map 2 a few potions and some new armor and maybe a weapon if you
have the money. Now go back inside and bypass the infested Zombie
room. Continue pass the Mermen Chamber and the Skeleton room until
you see your first Axe Armor. Kill him off Now make your way up
the room by using your Double-Jump and Flying Armor. Once you are
at the top part you can find a Lance on the left side of the room.
After you have got that move up the room while killing Sirens you
will then come to a door. Enter it and you will be in the Dance
Hall.
-------
F. Dance Hall
-------
Upon entering here move foward to start another dialogue scene. You
will now meet the last character of this game has to offer. The on-
-ly name he gives is J. And senses a dark power about Soma. Why do
people call him J? He really doesn't remember his name or his past
and that he was envolved with something in 1999. He then again sta-
-rts to talk to SOma about this "Dark" power. Soma then starts to
ask why he came to this Castle. J simply replys that everytime
he hears the name "Dracula" he trimbles in fear. Anyways...after
the scene continue to the next room. Now you will be in a shaft
room cutting in with a whole bunch of doorways. Ignore them and
continue heading up until you can't anymore. You will find a save
room on the right.
From the save room head into the door on the left to enter yet ano-
-ther pointless room. Continue all the way to the left until you
come to a room with a Minotaur. Kill him off and jump up on the
platform and then jump up in to the next room. Now follow this room
all the way to the right and jump up into the next room. Head into
the room on the right kill off the Zombie Officer, Waiter Skeleton
and Killer Doll - in here you will find $100.00. Also feel free to
go into the room on the left if you want.
Now use the Catoblepas to jump onto the ledges above you. Work your
way around killing off a few monsters. Once you reach the top part
with Bone Pillars kill off 2 of them and then kill off the top one.
Jump on him to get to the ledge with the High Mana Prism. Now retu-
-rn to the last Save Room.
Now drop back down to the room below and head to the room on the
right. You will now be in a room of Dancing Ghost. Feel free to
remove them as we continue to the rooms on the right (take the top
or bottom room. It really doesn't matter.) In this room you will
have some Durga's. Kill 'em off and head to the room on the top
right. In here will be two Quezlcoatls. Kill 'em off and continue
to the next room. In this room take out the Skeleton Knights and
the Nemesis. The bottom left room is a Warp Room. Now head back to
the room where the Dancing Ghost are and drop down to the bottom
right room.
In here head to the first room on the right. Follow it all the way
'round to get $400 gold. After that backtrack. Now drop all the
down and follow the room around. Drop down again until you come to
a BosS Chamber. You will also find a Save Room on the left.
--------
Boss Fight - Big Golem
Recomended Level: 20
This boss fight is fairly simple. Use a long ranged attack like the
Merman ability and attack at his head using a sword type weapon. As
you get close he will attempt to grab at you with is hand. Another
move he will do is spit rocks out at you - but this only will hit
you if you are close enough.
Just evade his attacks he then should come tumbling down.
---------
After the fight go in the next room to collect the Skeleton Blaze
ability. Now backtrack to the room where you saw the ghost dancing.
Now head right into the next room. Now advance up and head right.
In this room you will meet that Minotaur again. Kill him off and
slide under the wall. Continue heading right killing off the other
two Minotaurs. Now head in the door to go to your next area.
-----------------
G. Inner Quarters|
-----------------
As soon as you enter this room take out the Presephone. Proceed up
killing off the Durga's and head into the next room. Contine advan-
-cing upwords killing off the Durga's. When you come the first two
doors. When you head into the left room a Rabbit with a clock will
reverse time and send you back to the previous room. The right room
is a dead end with a Presephone in it. Continue heading up and you
will you see the two top rooms. The top left room is a Save Room
the other room takes you direclty to the Boss Chamber.
------------
Boss Fight - Head Hunter
Recomended Level: 22
Form 1: Head Hunter's first form is a woman. She will come at you
with a pathetic knife. Just hack a way!
Form 2: Now Head Hunter will turn into an old Wizard guy. Who will
fly around the room. He will start shooting three lightning
bolts under you - so try to evade them. Just hack away I
recomend using the Axe Armor soul.
Form 3: Now Head Hunter will turn into a lizard-man who will jump
across the room and climb up alls and ceilings. Dodge its
tongue while using your regular attack + Axe Armor soul.
Its secondiary attack is when it will shoot this powder
stuff out which will Posion you - so becareful.
Eventully this boss will be beat and you will have gained its
soul!
-----------
After the battle head back into the save room. Now from the save r-
-oom head back to the Boss Chamber. Look a Witch! (Can we burn her?
) Kill her off, just be warned - when the Witch enemies die they
turn in to black cats and will run at you (but they only do like
1 damage.) Continue to the right. In this next room (ignore the
Curly) and proceed to the room above you.
In this "silent" but "stormy" section, nevigate it while killing o-
-ff Valkyries and Disc Armor (who will shoot their disc upwords, so
use this to your adventage.) There is also one Clury. At the very
top of this liner area you find on the the left the Hrunting sword
(a must equip!) and to the right will be the Undine soul (which wi-
-ll allow one to walk on the surface of waters.) Now back track to
the room below.
Here go right and then make your way down to the bottom. Head in to
the left room. You will now be in a room full of mirriors. Take out
the Valkyire and the Curly. Proceed to the left. Hmm...a dead end.
Argh! A Kyoma Demon comes out and back stabs you! Kill it! Anyways
turn 'round back where we came. From here go right, kill off the V-
-alkyrie and Curly. You should now be infont of a fountain. Equip
the Undine Soul and double jump to the next platform and then to
the next and on through the door.
Drop down and kill off the Curly(s), Imp and Nemisis. When we've
reached the bottom head to the room on the left. Kill whats all
here and then head left to find a Warp Room. Now back track to room
before last; drop to the room below. Take out the ninja maids and
then take out Lilith. Now drop down on the room on the right to
find a dead end. Then drop down in the center room. Pass the door
ways and head right out the door to arrive back at the Castle Carr-
-idor. And no we're not staying here long - I just told you to come
here to cover the map. Now return to the previous area.
Kill the ninja maid of death, then the doll. Head to the room above
and then jump up to the platform and head to the right room. In the
room kill off the two Witches and the lone Student Witch; proceed
to the door to get to the next area of Dracula's castle.
--------
H. Top Floor
--------
Why we are even here I don't know. Head to the next door to get to
the Castle Carridor. *sighs*
-----
I. Castle Carridor
-----
Kill the Killer Dolls while jumping down to the bottom. Proceed to
the right room. Now go find the nearest save room if you need to
and then head to where Mina and Hammer are. Buy any items that you
think you will need from Hammer. Now head back in to the previous
room, ignore the Zombies and continue right. In the Merman room
(feel free to use the save rom) head to the top right room.
Pass this room and then the next until you get to the third. Use the
Save Room and drop down and into the right room. Here equip the Und-
ine Soul to walk across the water (ignore the fish.) When you come
to a platform jump up to it and head directly in to the next area of
the castle.
--------------------
J. Floating Gardens
--------------------
Go foward (ignore the floating platform) and kill the Cockatrice.
Continue heading left on in the next room. Kill off the Dead Soldi-
-er and the Red Crows. You will find a Save Room in the right door
way.
Return to the previous room and catch a ride on the floating platf-
-orm. Kill the Cockatrice on the left. Ride the platform again to
the very top. At this portion a pillar is blocking your access (so
you cannot attack the Gorgon.) Instead kill his evil twin brother
on the right.
Well I Just lead us to a dead end (its for map coverege.) Now drop
back down to the rooms below and backtrack to the start of the area
and then catch another ride on the platform by the Fountain. Head
to the right room to find Castle Map 3. Explore the portions you
can reach. After that head to the Platform we ignored by the entra-
-nce of this area. Make your way to the top left of the room. Now
that we are in this room, check your map. As you can see we are in
the higher portions of the castle.
Make your way around the confusing rooms. Kill off the enemies and
grab the goodies. Taking the path we just took will take us straig-
-ht to the next area of the castle.
---------------
K. Clock Tower
---------------
As we enter this room and continue onward on our quest to figure
out what in the hell is going on we come to a complete stop as Soma
decies to take his sweet time in to talking to Graham. And it seems
our hero decides to piss the man with power off. He quickly makes
his run.
Anyways after the short scene continue on in the tower. Drop down
and continue droping down (evade the spikes on the walls) while ne-
-vigating the vile clock gears. Make your way all the way down once
you reach the third shaft drop down and head to the bottom right
room. This is a Save Room (I highly recomend you use it.)
From the Save Room head to the left room. In here another scene
will take place between Soma and Yoko. It seems Soma has put Graham
in a panic because Soma has the ability to rule. But that wont stop
the evil man. It seems Graham thinks of himself as the true Dracula
and because of Soma's appearence, it seems that Graham is getting
quite desperate.
After the scene continue left. In this room ignore the water below
and keep moving. In this room take out the Bomb Armor. In the next
make your way up the tower. Kill off the Harpy and the Lightning
Doll then make your way to the top right doorway. Take out the Bomb
Armor in this room and continue. In this room again make your way
up and to the top left room.
In the next room avoid the Medusa Heads while riding the platforms
up. Don't forget about the flying Gremlin (the green dude) who will
try and knock you off. Follow it up to the top right room and in to
the next. In this room you will find a Lightning Doll guarding a b-
-ag of $2000 so take it if you want. Also don't forget about Medusa
Head (lvl 2; yellow) which will turn you to stone in one hit.
Follow it up to the top left room. In this room you will find two
Lightning DOlls. Kill 'em off and move up. Head right, take out the
Great Armor and proceed. Kill the Harpies in this room and move to
the top. On the right is a Save Room (use it) and on the left is a
Boss Chamber.
-------------------------
Boss Fight - Death
Level: 25
Death will be hovering in the background waiting for Soma. As he
arrives the battle will begin. Death has two forms in this battle
and he can be some what of a pain if you do not know what to do.
Form 1: Death will hover around attacking you with his Sythe and
Sickles. The Sythe will come at you spining so take heed
to dodge the big thing. Now the Sickles will appear at
random and will spin around while coming at you.
It's very important to dodge his flying Sickles. There is
also another attack - he will begin to charge magic within
in skeletal hands and then 4-5 blue beams will shoot up
from the ground. The trick here is to just run a way from
them.
To damage him - attack his Sythe.
Now if you want to get tactical use the Lightning Doll Soul
to hit him for some good damage (depending on your level at
this time.) Also the Axe Knight soul makes good use here as
well.
After he dies he will no longer be ethreal. He will then pull out a
double Sythed' staff.
Form 2: Now Death is going to get pretty hard. The Sickles will
appear no longer (so thats good news.) Dracula has a few
new atttacks. He will come rushing at you with his Scythe.
When he does this just double jump over him.
He will then throw his Scythe making it spin around the ro-
-om. The trick here is the same. Duck when it is above you
and double jump over it when its below you.
When he dies you will steal his soul!
-------------------------
Yeah... That is kinda funny... Stealing the Angel of Death's soul.
Interesting. Anyways continue to the left room. In here you will
find the Skula soul which allows you to go under water. Head back
to the Save Room. Now drop down and head to the bottom left room.
Kill the Great Armor and proceed down. In here kill the two dolls
and proceed to the right room. Keep proceeding down until you come
to a room with a false floor (which breaks) with water underneath
it (its not very far from the first save room of this area.)
Now once you are in the water equip the Skula soul and drop down.
Head right while killing the Needles. Continue droping down (ignor-
-ing the pathetic enemies) Once you come to a portion with two ope-
-ning doorways. The left leads the Castle Carridor the other is a
Warp Point.
Head to Hammer's shop if you need to. After we're done here head
back to the water room (with the Needles) now explore the left
portion (just becareful of the Devil.) Drop all the way down this
shaft. Here you will find another two way path. The right takes you
to some clock swings (just swing across the spikes.) Here you will
get the Burtgang sword. Now swing back across and head to the left
room. Make your way past the spike maze in this area and drop down
in the next room which will take you to get the Pitch Black Suit.
Now backtrack to the Warp Room and head to the Castle Carrirdor.
-------------------
L. Castle Carridor
-------------------
From the Warp Room drop down and head right to the Merman room.
Once we are here drop down and enter the door on the lower left.
-------------------------
M. Underground Reservoir
-------------------------
This area can be accessed early in the game but the only problem is
that you wont get that far. Why? Because at the start of the game
you did not have the Skula soul. Anyways make your way in the room
and kill off the Tiny Devil, Bats and the lone Skeleton. At the
bottom you can find a Pendant. Now make your way to the right room.
Make your way across this long room while killing off the Fish. You
will then come to a platform above (use the Undine soul) in here
you will find an Elfin Robe. Now continue going right and drop down
in the water below.
Destroy the Needles in this area. Once at the bottom take a left.
Kill the Man Eater and enter the left room for Rahab's Sword (a sp-
-ecial sword that grants you the elemental attack of ice.) Now ret-
-urn to the previous room. Kill the Man Eater and then Kill the Ne-
-edles. Proceed to the top right room.
Now it appears we are in a cavern. Drop all the way down until you
come to your first door on the right, inside is a Save Room. From
here head back up and take the top right room. In this room drop
down to the water below and make your way to the bottom right room.
Kill the Needles in this room and prooceed. In this room ignore
heading up and continue going right. Drop down, the first door on
the right leads to a dead end with a killer fish (which is on land
and dying BWAHAHAHAH!) Continue droping down, the last door on the
right is a Save Room. Now make your way back up to the top left
room. Now jump up to the room above. Here continue heading up
while taking out the Fish Heads.
Now work your way to the top right of the room. You will find a
door way which will lead back to the Castle Carridor. So use it to
explore the map (but return here.) Now equip your Flying Armor soul
and wait for a small boat to come out. Now jump and use it then
double jump to get to that ledge. Once there head foward (ignore
the sword you see, you can't get it now.) In this room take out
the Flesh GOlem, Nightmare and the uh...Knight (whos name I forgot)
Continue going right.
Now in this room you will see a small boat which seems to be point-
-ing towards a slope. Ignore it and proceed down. Kill the Triton
and then proceed up and left to find $1000. Now return to the
slope.
Now the trick here is to push the boat then quickly jump on it as
it makes its way down to launch yourself off in to a wall. The tri-
-ick here is to jump on the other platform. It will take some trial
and error but you'll eventully get it.
Now proceed up to find an Arch Demon. Kill 'em off for some XP.
Now drop back down to door you just saw (on the right) and enter
it. By-pass the slimes if you wish and enter the next room. We are
now in some sort of iced cavern. Make your way down and kill the
Triton. Now make your way to the left of the room and move up. At
the top left room you will find the Rune Ring. Now return to the
previous room.
Drop all the way down to the room below. Kill the Fish Heads and
drop down. It seems we've come to a dead end. Equip your Peeping
Eye soul (if you have it) to see the false wall on the right.
Break it open to find the Osafune sword. Now return to the room
above. Continue left until you come to a Super Potion and a great
water fall.
Well, we're done for the item collecting. Head back to the previous
room and head up (left side) you will find $2000! Anyways return to
the Save Room we visted earlier. From the Save Room head in to the
left room we didn't explore yet. Kill the Big Golem and proceed. In
this next area follow the paths all the way down and head for the
bottom right door way and enter it.
In this room ignore the slimes as well as the skeleton in the cent-
-er. Continue to the room on the right. In this room ride the floa-
-ting platform (becareful of the Arch Devil) and ride the 2nd one
which is moving up an down. Now head to the top right room. In here
kill the Dryads and Posion Worms and head to the right room. You
will now be taken to the great water fall. As you approach it you
are knocked aback. There is nothing we can do here now so return
to the previous rooms and head to the top left room to find a Warp
Point (use the Undine to get on the water to reach it.) The bottom
right of this huge room takes you to the Armor of Water and the
bottom left takes us to where we really need to go.
In the bottom lef room take out the Gorgons and Tritons and contin-
-ue to the right room. In this next room drop all the way down.
Once you are at the bottom smash the left wall, inside will be some
pudding. Now return to the previous room and head to the right
room.
------------------------
N. Underground Cemetery
------------------------
In this hallway take out the Werejaguars and Biphrons. Continue to
the right room. The music will stop and you will start to hear the
sounds of the typical zombie. Out of the background white figures
will start to popl out. Don't worry about these mindless corpses
for they wont do you any harm. Also don't forget to take out the
Flame Demon and the Biphrons. Now continue down the hallway and
exit. In this portion jump up to the room above to find a Save Room
and $2000.
Note: I recomend you use the Save Room.
Drop down from this room and continue going right. Make your way to
the Boss Chamber.
---------
Boss Fight - Legion
Recomended Level: 35
This boss fight is just pure...icing on a cake. Legion is the big
huge corpse ball that floats around the room while trying to hurt
you. Just simply attack the ball and destroy every single of the
pieces of the corpse sphere.
But be aware he will drop corpses all over the place which will
attack and poison you.
Once the ball around his body is destroyed you will be shown his
true form. He will attack with his tenticles shooting out lasers
which can do some pretty bad damage. He will also turn into a ball
and move around really fast trying to hit you. Simply attack the
core of his body and he should go down with pure ease. At the end
of the battle (if you destroyed his whole body...etc) you will gain
his soul.
---------
Now that he is dead head to the room on the bottom right. Continue
to the next room (going right.) Follow this hallway down and take
out the blasted Rippers. At the end of this hallway you will find
the Galamoth ability soul which allows the affects of stoping time
not to bother you. Return to the room before the rippers and jump
up to the room above. The room on the right here will take you to
the Gold Ring. The left will be a High Potion. Now return to the
Save Room.
Now from here head back to the Underground Reservoir. Once in the
shaft make your way up to the top left room. Inside you will trigg-
-er a scene.
Oh no! Graham has stabbed Yoko and gets away! It seems that the
bastard has obsorbed the power of the castle and because of that he
is much stronger! Genya comes in telling Soma that he needs to go
to the Throne Room and that he will save the poor girls life.
After the scene continue to the right room. Here drop down to find
a High Mind Up Potion. Now return to the previous room and make
your way to the top left door.
------------
O. The Arena
------------
Finally some up-beat music. Continue going right. In the next room
take out the Gargoyles, Beam Skeletons and the Killer Mantals. Make
your way to the top of the room. Proceed to the room above. In this
room you will find on the right a Warp Room. Continue heading left
and you will come to a room with two Gargoyles and the Gladitor.
Take 'em out and proceed left. Continue going left and drop down.
You will find a Save Room in the left door way. Now return to the
previous room. Now from here head right and kill off the monsters.
When you are in the next room kill off the monsters and continue
in to the next room. Kill off the lone monster and make your way
to the room above.
In this room take out the monsters and proceed all the way up to
the first door on the right (very top) to find a High Potion. Next
return to the previous shaft and head in to the middle doorway. In
here take out the Red Minotars and misc; continue to the left of
the room and in to the next. Upon entering this new room you will
recieve the Laevatain sword. Now return to that Save Room and use
it.
Once you are done with the Save Room head to the room on the right.
In here you will find an Elevator and some doors. These orange col-
-ored doors will lead you to certain challenges which are self exp-
-lanitory. But if you need help with them I will guide you:
Room 1 (top door) - In this room you will have to take out the Lub-
-icants while avoiding the backround statues
who in which will attack you with their hands
and feet. (No you cannot destroy the statues.)
Once you reach the end you will find a dead end
with a huge wrecking ball. The trick with this
ball is to hit it back and fourth until it hits
the right wall. In other words hit fowards then
and when it moves back infront of it and hit it
again. Keep repeating this until and the wall
will break.
Inside will be the Orlox's Suit.
Room 2 (Mid Door) - This room will be a spiked room with convayer
belts and another new enemy called the Erinys
which act exactly like Valkyres. Now here is
the challenge: Medusa Heads (lvl 2; yellow)
will come at you. You have to work the belts
while dodging these monsters.
There will also be a switch you must hit in
order to get thru a small crack (via sliding)
Your reward at the end of this will be the
Bulmung sword.
Room 3 (last door) - There will be a lot of Beam Skeletons in this
room and a platform with some strange statues
with crosses cut in to them.
First: Kill the skeletons
Second: Use the platform and use your control
pad when the crosses light up with the
pattern of which direction you need to
press. Failing in getting the pattern
wrong will get Soma hurt (but not that
bad.)
At the end of this you will recieve the Rare
Ring.
After all these challenges are done return to the Save Room and
then ride that Elevator back down to the bottom floor. You will
find the Boss Chamber on the left.
--------------
Boss Fight - Balore
Recomended Level: 45
As soon as Soma walks foward a huge bat will make its true form.
But then... A HUGE hand comes in and CRUSHES the bat like NOTHING!
The object to this Boss Battle is to avoid his hands while hiting
his right eye. His hands will come crashing down at you. Just dodge
both of his hands. When his right eye is taken out his left one
will open and that is when things become a bit more difficult.
He will start to shoot lasers from his eye in which will cause the
floor to be englufed in flames. I recomend using the Lightning Doll
soul to make easy work of this boss. After he dies he will give you
his soul. Enter the left room to find the Giant Bat soul.
---------------
Return to the previous room and a scene will take place between J
and Soma. And it seems that Soma's dark power has allowed J to get
his memory back. He is in fact Julius Belmont! They then talk about
Graham being Dracula. Alas there is only one problem. Julius needs
his family's weapon known as the Vampire Killer, a whip that is the
Bane of The Night. He then takes off to get the weapon.
Head back to the Save Room and use it. Now head to the room above
you. Equip the bat soul. Use it to fly to the room above. Here take
out the monsters and explore the bottom right room. Here take out
the Succubus and Lilith and grab the Black Cloak.
Now explore the rest of this portion (at the top right door way you
can find $1,000 gold. Now we can leave this area and use the Warp
Room to the entrance of the castle.
--------
Now that all main bosses are dead that leaves us with a few more
things to do within Dracula's castle. First off Mina spoke of these
ancient books. I will list the locations of these books as they
offer clues to continue further in to the game.
Ancient Book 1 - Study
- Description: The first is a demon from hell fires
Ancient Book 2 - Inner Quarters
- Description: The second spirit is the King of Bats
Ancient Book 3 - Underground Reservoir
- Description: The third spirit is a beautiful nightmare.
Now you are probably thinking what to do next. Well Let me transla-
-te the books.
Book 1: Flame Demon (can be found in the Underground Cemetery.)
Book 2: Giant Bat soul (obtained by defeating Balore.)
Book 3: Succubus (The Arena or Top Floor.)
Collect these three souls for they are very important!
After you have collected the 3 books & souls head to the room in
the Inner Quarters that takes you to the Clock Tower. This is the
Top Floor.
-------------
O. Top Floor
-------------
Here ignore the statues (or break them for hearts/money.) Now equip
your Giant Bat soul and fly up to the room above you. Here take out
the Succubus and the Erinys. Head to the room on the right. In here
take out the Final Guard and the other monster above. Proceed to
the bottom right room. In this shaft take out the Lubicant and then
head in to the room on the right. In here you will find a Super Po-
-tion. Continue up the shaft. The 2nd room on the right is a Warp
Room. So use it and find another Save Room (like in the Entrance.)
Make your way to the top of the shaft and head to the room on the
left (the right leads to a dead end.) Head to the top portion of
the map into a new area. Here the backround skulls will light up
as you walk past them. Kill off the enemies in this area. Follow it
to the top room. In here head to the room on the right. Here will
be another wrecking ball. After the wall is broken you can now have
access from the Clock Tower to here. Return to the previous room.
Make your way up to the Save Room on the right. Now there a few
items that I recomend that you get in this area. I wont tell you
where they are due to this area being liner. But make sure you have
the Peeping Eye soul. First off you can find Satan's Ring which is
guarded by a Final Guard, the 2nd item is a Spear (forgot the name
of it.) which can be found on the right side of the lower sections.
In the Court Yard area at the bottom of the ground is a hole. In
here will be an Iron Golem. Kill him if you wish (if you want to
spend the time in taking him out.) Break the right wall to find the
Super Jump ability. And underneath the Masters Chamber you can find
the sword Kaladorg. After that head back to the Save Room and Save.
Now before you fight the boss I highly recomend you head to Hammer-
's shop and buy some potions and such. After you got what you need
and are prepared save your game and head directly to the Master's
Chamber.
A scene will take place between Soma and Graham. Graham seems to
be pissed off because Soma is still controlling "his" demons. And
that his punishment for the crime of stealing is death... After the
scene the fight will take place.
NOTE:
There is an ending you can obtain after defeating Graham. Do not
equip the souls: Giant Bat, Flame Demon and Succubus soul and you
will get the medium ending.
If you wish to skip this ending then equip the souls and kill off
Graham.
-------------
Boss Fight - Graham
Recomended Level: 50
The objective of this fight is to dodge Graham's attacks and hit
him in the head.
First Form: He will teleport around the room like Dracula shooting
Balls of Destruction and Fireballs. Just dodge them as
they come for they are quite slow. When his health is
low he will start throwing the Balls of Destruction in
a slow circle motion. This is very easy to dodge.
After some damage Graham will change forms.
Second Form: He will turn into a huge demon. The object is to glide
across the floor avoiding the thing above his head.
When it is above Soma it will spin and launch a high
powered laser attack. Kill it off with the Lightning
Doll Soul. After it's destroyed stand by the door and
continue to blast the center with the same attack. He
should be dead after a few hits.
------------------
*start of Medium Ending* (or)
After the battle a scene will take place. Spheres of darkness will
start to enter Soma's body. After a huge light flashes.... Soma now
clearly understands that he is truly Dracula. He then tells Arikado
to come out. He and Soma then talks about him being Dracula. And
because of this Arikado is able to use his dark power. He then spe-
-aks to Soma of the castle being a magical world. And that there is
somewhere within this castle is the stream of Chaos.
After the scene head in to the room behind Arikado. In here you wi-
-ll find is Dracula's Tunic and the Black Panther soul. Now head to
the Floating Gardens and nevigate the towers until you reach the
third tower from the left.
Once you are here kill the Altairs which drop the Rippers. Now drop
down to the room below and use the Save Room on the left. Now take
your time killing the Skeleton Kicker to gain an ability soul which
allows you to drop kick your enemies when you do a double jump.
After gaining his soul use the Save Room again. Drop down to the
room below. The black door we couldn't get in to earlier now opens.
Head inside...
As Soma continues foward Julius comes crashing in "STOP!" he says
and a scene will take place. Julius then realizes that Soma is in
fact Dracula. Soma then begs Julius to stop... But there is nothing
he can do. The battle starts...
--------
Boss Fight - Julius
Recomended Level: 50/55
This battle can be very hard. If you do not know what to and or you
lack quick finger controls. The objective is to dodge Julius's
whip attacks. He can also teleport behind you out of no where.
Continue to dodge his whip attacks until he starts to gets to 50%
health. At this point Julius does a magical item crash and will
use the holy power of the Cross to suck you in (while Dracula's
Castle crumbles in the background because of the holy pow-uhhh!)
He will then start to use subweapons and what not on you. Just con-
-tinue with the attacks.
I recomend using the Black Panther Soul, Lightning Doll, and the
Succubus soul during this fight.
-------
After the battle Soma will tell Julius to stop. Another scene will
take place between him and Soma. After the battle return to the
Save Room.
----------------------
Now at this point of the game you can go any where. But in order to
get the true ending of AOS you must beat the Chaos boss in the Cha-
-otic Realm. To get there you must use the teleporter in the next
room where we fought Julius.
-----------------
P. Choatic Realm
-----------------
This place is like a small maze than anything else. To the right is
a dead end. The left room is a Save Room so use it. Now proceed to
the room above you. Make your way up the shaft. The first doorway
on the left holds a Mana Prism and an Iron Golem. Now continue up
to the top of the shaft and enter the room on the right.
In here take out the monsters and proceed to the room on the left.
Take out the Giant Skeleton in this room and proceed to the next
room. Now drop down to the room below and enter the right doorway.
Drop down to the room below. In this shaft you will find a Save Ro-
-om in the left doorway (use it!) Now drop down to the left doorway
and then proceed in this room and drop down. Make your way around
this room to the middle right doorway. You will now be in a water
area.
Work your way around this area to the bottom right doorway. In the
next couple of rooms continue heading all the way up until you come
to a very bright room. At the top to the right room will be a Golem
and a High Mind Up and the left is a Shadow Knight. Continue making
your way around the next rooms (which are liner) until you reach
the final Boss Chamber (on the left) and the Save Room (on the rig-
-ht.)
--------
Boss Fight - Chaos
Recomended Level: 50/60
First Form -
At the start of the battle Chaos will take all the souls you earned
away. So you must use your pure strength alone. This battle can be
a pain the ass so let me break it down for ya.
Red: Offense
Blue: Defense
Yellow: Misc
The trick to this battle is take all of the bodies out. There is
no code or color ordeal going on here. JUst concentrate on what it
throws at you. Over all I think it's an easy battle. Just make sure
to heal yourself up. He shouldn't take that long to kill.
Second Form -
This battle is very simple. Chaos will shoot orbs around the room
which will try to hurt Soma. Attack the Orbs that which will bounce
away from you. You will also want to dodge the dragon/salamander
looking thing.
Destroy the eyes on the sides of the wall and then take out the
sphere in the center of the room. Keep attacking it and you will
eventully win.
----------
Congratulations: You beat Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. Enjoy the
ending!
