This script is from the Japanese release of Sonic Battle but because I know
nothing about Japanese text, I changed it to English. The only difference
between the American/European English version and the Japanese English is one
line where Rouge uses a slight curse. (See if you can find it).
Let’s go over how this guide works. Simply the guide will tell you the dialogue
of the characters throughout the course of the game. Try to imagine this as
some sort of play. Each character has a line and in between conversations an
action may happen in the background or a new character may enter. When one of
these actions happen they will be put in square brackets so it is easier to see
the actions from the dialogue.
Since 2004 I quit writing guides but I get an email out of the blue from a girl
in merry ol England who wants to help me finish it, her name is Jaigo2 and she
contributed from Knuckles Chapter onwards.

but forgot aboout it until recently. I came across Chaos Controls and I noticed

[In the beginning of the game we see Eggman talking to an orange robot.]
Eggman: Fight! Why don’t you fight?!
[Eggman hits the robot and it shakes.]
Robot: ... ... ... ... ... ...
Eggman: Dang! You piece of junk! Give me back the “Chaos Emerald” you took!
*Grrr* What a piece of junk!
[Eggman hits the robot twice more.]
Robot: ... ... ...
Eggman: That’s it! I’ve already used your data to create a robot that does what
I say. So I don’t need you anymore!
Robot: ... ... ...
[The screen turns black and we now arrive at Emerald Town. This is where
Sonic and his friends live.]
[Sonic is at the beach where he finds a strange robot.]
Sonic: Man, I’m so bored.
[Sonic looks surprised when he sees the robot.]
Sonic: Hmm? What’s this? It’s a robot!
Robot: ... ... ...
Sonic: Are you all right?
Robot: ... ... ...
Sonic: I wonder if it’s busted. Look at all this dust. I wonder how long it’s
been here. Hey! Are you all right?
[The robot looks around.]
Robot: ... ... ...
Sonic: Hey it’s moving now! Need any help? Can you walk by yourself?
Robot: ... ... ...
Sonic: Can’t speak, eh? Well it figures. Can’t expect much from ol’ Eggman.
Well, let’s get you over to Tails’ first, so we can help you out!
Robot: Show... ... power... OR I sh...all ob...ey... Sha...ll conqu...r
a...ll...
[Sonic looks confused.]
Sonic: Huh? What did it say? Show it my power? Like this? Heh heh...
[The screen flashes a few times.]
Robot: ... ... ...! ... ... ...!
[Sonic looks surprised]
Sonic: What! Whoa!
Robot: I sha...ll not ...represent ...and become... of all...
Sonic: What? What’s it saying? I wonder if this thing can even be fixed. I
better take it to Tails before it blows up. Tail’s House if north of town.
Follow me!
[Sonic runs off and the robot follows.]
[Rouge appears on the scene.]
Rouge: Looks like I arrived a little too late. It must have established a
“Link” already... But with Sonic? What a strange choice... Oh, well. That
won’t stop the world’s greatest thief, “Rouge” from getting what she wants!
[Sonic and the robot arrive at Tails’ House.]
Sonic: So this is Tails’...
[Shadow appears on the scene and surprises Sonic.]
Sonic: Shadow!
Shadow: Huh? Sonic the Hedgehog... Sorry, but I don’t have time to play with
you now. Hey! Can you hear me? Respond! No! You must have already established
a Link!
Robot: ... ... ...
Sonic: Shadow!
Shadow: Hey! You, over here!
Robot: ... ... ...
Shadow: Won’t listen to me, eh? In that case, I’ll destroy you with my bare
hands!
Sonic: Hey stop that!
Shadow: get out of the way, and give me that robot!
[Sonic raises a fist.]
Sonic: And if I say no?
[Shadow also raises a fist.]
Shadow: Then... I will destroy you too...
[Sonic and Shadow go into a battle. Once the battle is over...]
Shadow: Gah... I still haven’t regained my full power yet. Listen to me!
Whatever you do, don’t let Dr. Eggman get hold of the Gizoid. I’ll be back...

[Shadow disappears.]
Sonic: H, Hey! How’s Eggman involved in this?
[Tails appears.]
Tails: Sonic! Are you OK? I though I saw Shadow... And what is that? A robot?
Sonic: Oh, I found this robot by the beach. This thing’s about to fall apart.
Can you fix it, Tails?
Tails: Where are you going, Sonic?
[Sonic raises his fist.]
Sonic: I spotted a bat that I’m a little too familiar with lurking around.
Take this robot to the lab, Tails!
[Sonic runs off, making Tails look upset.]
Tails: What? Sonic!
Robot: ... ... ...
Tails: Man, he’s always on the run. Oh well I’ve got a job to do! Oh boy. Let’s
head to the lab. Can you walk?
[Sonic arrives on the beach, meeting up with Rouge the Bat.]
Rouge: Hey!
Sonic: What do you want?
[Rouge looks annoyed.]
Rouge: Is that how you greet a beautiful woman?
Sonic: I don’t have time for niceties. ‘Sides, I have enough girls chasing me
as it is.
Rouge: Heh. The only girl I saw following you was a girl robot. Where is she,
anyway?
Sonic: What girl robot? You don’t mean that robot...
Rouge: How about a little wager? If I win, you have to partner up with me.
Sonic: If this is your plan to get a date, you’ll still need to wait in line!
Rouge: Well, there’s quite a line. Shadow, Dr. Eggman, and even my boss are
interested in you little robot... And I hate waiting in lines, you see.
Sonic: I saw Shadow earlier. He said something about Eggman too. But wait...
Why’s a master thief interested in...
[Rouge looks annoyed as she crosses her arms again.]
Rouge: the robot’s a special case. And it’s already established a “Link” with
you. This isn’t an ordinary robot you know. So, about my wager, if I win, you
have to team up with me, OK?
[Sonic raises his arms in question.]
Sonic: Don’t you think it’s a little too early to be getting romantic? And if
I win, you’ll leave me alone, right?
Rouge: Better watch yourself. Don’t ever underestimate an agent. You might get
hurt.
[Later...]
Rouge: I won’t give up just yet. I always get what I want!
[After the second battle.]
Rouge: Hmm. Not bad. I think you’ve had enough for today. I’ll see you later!
Bye!
[Rouge leaves and Sonic raises his arms again.]
Sonic: H-hey! Come back! Eggman, Rouge, and Shadow – that robot sure is
popular. I better go check up with Tails.
[Sonic arrives at the Lab where he meets up with a grey robot.]
Grey Robot: Located! Located!
Sonic: Whoa!
[After the battle the grey robot disappears.]
Sonic: Tails! Are you alright? Hang on, I’ll be right there!
[Sonic meets up with the Tails and the robot. Tails looks angry.]
Sonic: Tails! Are you alright?
Tails: Sonic! You’ve gotta see this! There’s a robot that looks just like ours
on the news! And apparently, it’s robbed a bunch of jewelry stores!
Sonic: We just encountered that “fake”, I think. I wonder if there are even
more of them out there. Hmm, this is all starting to get a little more
interesting now.
[Tails looks sad.]
Tails: Sonic...
Sonic: So whaddya find out?
Tails: What did I find out? This robot has some amazing technology inside it!
Sonic: Well, it sure doesn’t seem that way. It won’t even obey my commands!
Tails: You just need to see it in action. Wait outside until I get ready!
[Sonic goes back to the Lab.]
Tails: Thanks for waiting! Let’s start the battle. Let’s try 5 Heavy Attacks.
To perform a Heavy Attack, press the Control pad in the direction of your
opponent, and press the B Button simultaneously.
Sonic: Fighting skills? Hey, are you sure this thing will stand on its own? It
looks pretty beat up.
Tails: Don’t worry, Sonic. Are you ready?
[After performing the 5 Heavy Attacks on the robot...]
Sonic: Wh-what was that? Some kind of bright light... It happened when we were
fighting Shadow too...
Tails: Just as I thought. Let’s try something else. Do 5 Upper Attacks in a
row. Pres the B Button and the Control Pad simultaneously, and make sure to
press the Control Pad in the opposite direction that you are facing. Are you
ready?
[After performing the 5 Upper Attacks on the robot...]
Sonic: There it was again! What’s going on?
Tails: I was right! Sonic, this robot is very special!
Sonic: OK, So I know this is an amazing robot. But what does it all mean? And
why is everyone after him?
Tails: Well, I know two things. 1: it’s powered by “Chaos Emeralds”. Once we
give it more “Chaos Emeralds”, it will regain its energy and even be able to
speak properly.
Sonic: Maybe that’s why Eggman...
Tails: My next discovery about this robot is even more stunning. This robot is
capable of adopting attack techniques either by observation, or by being
attacked by the attack techniques.
Sonic: So what you mean is, if I kick him, he will learn my move, and kick
like I did. Am I following you right Tails?
Tails: That’s right, Sonic! And on top of that, it can develop new moves based
on the captured data!
Sonic: Well that’s cool, I guess. I should teach it to run in case it ever
needs to run away.
Tails: It can learn new attacks by pressing the “R Button”!
Sonic: So it’s able to even combines moves, such as using my jumping skill
with your attack techniques...
Tails: That’s correct! But this robot’s system seems to have some limitation
on the attack abilities it can learn. I believe it’s related to the “Skill
Points”. But the computer broke down before I was able to confirm this. I
guessed my computer crashed because of the massive overload of data from the
robot ... ... This isn’t just an ordinary robot, that’s for sure...!
Sonic: Hmph... It all sound so complicated, but basically this robot has the
ability to learn our moves right? If that’s the case, then let’s start
training it! Let’s do a “KO Battle”! The one who gets “10 KOs” first wins, OK?
Are you ready, Tails?
[After the battle...]
Sonic: Are you all right? Looks like you’ve still got to practice a lot more!
I guess this place is too small to teach it that. Let’s go over to the
“Emerald Beach”! Pressing the “R Button” will teach it an attack technique. I
should try that! Emerl should’ve learned my “heavy Attack” and
“Upper Attack”...
Tails: You can always practice your attack techniques here! Come back any time
you want to practice any attack techniques!
[Once the gang arrive at Emerald Beach.]
Sonic: OK, now we should have enough room here!
Robot: ... ... ...! ...!
Sonic: Hey! We didn’t come here to play, you know! As usual, the first one to
get “10 KOs” win! Are you ready?
[Later...]
Sonic: Hey, now you’re getting the hang of it! Pretty soon you’ll be able to
get “Chaos Emeralds” all by yourself!
Tails: “Chaos Emeralds...” Hey, Sonic! Let’s go see Knuckles!
Sonic: Hey! Yeah. Knuckles might be able to help us out! Especially since he’s
familiar with “Chaos Emeralds”! OK, are you ready, Emerl?
Tails: Emerl?
Sonic: Yeah, that’s its name. It’s powered by “Chaos Emeralds”, so I named it
“Emerl”! Cool name, eh?
Emerl: ... ... ...! ...!
Tails: Em, yeah. Real clever...
Sonic: Hey! There’s a fake Emerl in front of “Tails’ House”!
[Tails raises fist.]
Tails: You’re right!
[Sonic also raises his fist.]
Sonic: Is that also Eggman’s plan? That cheeseball! We’ll show him! Hey, Tails!
Let’s set an attack technique on Emerl with the “R Button”!
[Once the 3 heroes arrive at Tail’s House.]
Sonic: !!
Tails: What is it, Sonic!?
Sonic: I just got a great idea! Hey, Emerl! Go destroy that fake copy!
Tails: What?
[Sonic raises his fist.]
Sonic: Don’t worry! I’ll back him up if it gets into trouble! We should test
out it’s abilities after all that training right? Now, go!
[After the battle.]
Attack! Attack!
Sonic: Emerl! Don’t let your guard down! Here it comes again!
[After the next battle.]
Sonic: I told you there wouldn’t be any problems!
Emerl: ... ... ...!
Sonic: Emerl’s excited too!
Tails: Em, whatever you say... We’ve gotta head to Knuckles’, which is up
north, in the direction of Holly Summit! Let’s go!
[So the three of them head out of Emerald Town to the north to Holly Summit.
They stop at the Plains where there seems to be another robot, but this one
is different than the other ones.]
Sonic: Hey, there’s another robot over there!
Tails: Sonic! It’s another one of Eggman’s robots!
Sonic: Hey, it looks just like Gamma!
Tails: Hey, long time no see, Gamma! ... ...
[Gamma pulls out a weapon.]
Gamma: Target detected! Going into capture mode!
[After the battle.]
Gamma: Unable to function... ... ... ... Auto-check start... Recovery initiated
... ... ... ...
[Gamma makes some beeping noises and Sonic looks alarmed.]
Sonic: Emerl! Tails! Don’t let down your guard. It’s coming back.
[After the second battle with Gamma.]
Tails: Gee, that scared me!
Sonic: I guess this isn’t Gamma...
Tails: I wonder why it tried to attack us...
[Sonic raises his fist.]
Sonic: We’ll find out about that as soon as we get a hold of Eggman! Let’s
head to “Knuckles’ House” for now! We don’t know when we’re going to be
attacked again, so let’s set a stronger attack technique on you with the “R
Button”! It may be a good idea to train using that “Ruin”!
Tails: Ahhh! Wait for me Sonic!
[Sonic and Tails run off.]
[When our character reach Knuckles’ House...]
Sonic: Hey, Knuckles! Where are you? We need to borrow your “Chaos Emerald!”
[Knuckles acts surprised at the remark.]
Knuckles: !!! That robot! That’s the one who’s been robbing the jewelry stores
around town.
Sonic: H-hey... Just chill for a second Knuckles! This robot is powered by
“Chaos Emeralds...”
[Knuckles raises is fist in anger.]
Knuckles: Shut up! I’m going to tear this rustbucket apart to teach it a
lesson!
Sonic: Oh, boy...There’s no stopping Knuckles once he gets all riled up. OK,
listen up Emerl. This guy won’t listen to anybody who is weaker than he is. So
if we want to talk to him about “Chaos Emeralds,” you’ve got to beat him first.
[Sonic also raises his fist.]
Sonic: Don’t worry. He’s got lots of power, but his moves are simple to read.
Watch for an opening, then hit him with a combo attack! But wait a second...
Do you want to change any of you attack techniques?
Knuckles: What’s the hold up!? Bring it on!
[After the fight between Emerl and Knuckles.]
Knuckles: His moves... They’re similar to Sonic’s. How could this be? Come on!
Is that all you got?
[After the second fight between Emerl and Knuckles.]
Knuckles: Gahh... I lost...
Sonic: OK, We’ll borrow that “Chaos Emerald” now!
Knuckles: All right, all right. Go wait outside while I go get it. It’ll be
ready for you when you come back here.
[Once our 3 characters go back to Knuckles’ House.]
Sonic: See, I told you! Why don’t you ever listen to me!
Knuckles: What is this thing Sonic?
[Sonic looks confused.]
Sonic: Beats me!
[Knuckles look angry again.]
Knuckles: You can’t fool me, Sonic!
Tails: Honestly Knuckles, we really don’t know! All we know is that it’s
powered by “Chaos Emeralds.” And Eggman wants it.
Sonic: Not to mention Shadow and Rouge.
Knuckles: If Eggman and that thieving bat are involved, something really
sneaky must be going on!
Tails: Anyway, thanks for letting us borrow your “Chaos Emerald”!
Sonic: Emerl’s skill improve with “Chaos Emeralds”!
Knuckles: Yeah, whatever...
[The screen turns black and now we see Sonic, Tails and Emerl on-screen.]
Tails: Let’s insert the “Chaos Emerald” in you, Emerl!
[The Chaos Emerald floats in front of Emerl, then the screen flashes white a
few times and Emerl turns to face the front.]
Emerl: ... ... ... ... ... ... T.h.a.n.k. y.o.u, Sonic...
[Sonic and Tails are shocked.]
Sonic: Emerl spoke!
Tails: His speech and powers will improve with each “Chaos Emerald” we give
him!
Emerl: Sonic... Metal... Ba.t.t.le... Ba.t.t.le... Ba.t.t.le... Ba.t.t.le...

[At the start of the second chapter we see Sonic and Emerl talking.]
Sonic: Hey, Emerl! Let’s play over by the beach! I’ll teach you some secret
techniques!
Emerl: Play! Play!
[The two of them run off, leaving a sad look on Tails’ face.]
Tails: *sigh* Sonic’s off to the beach again with Emerl... We still don’t know
much about Emerl. But I guess it isn’t that important to Sonic... There was
something odd about Emerl when we inserted the “Chaos Emerald...” But I can’t
do any further research because the computer in my lab is broken... Wait a
second! I can do a full examination if I use the “Central Lab”! I better hurry!
I wonder if Emerl is over at the “beach”?
[When Tails arrives at the beach.]
Tails: Sonic, we need to take Emerl to the “Central Lab”...
Sonic: What? We were just getting warmed up!
Emerl: Warmed up! Warmed up!
Sonic: Yeah, come and play with us for a little while! As usual, the one who
gets “10 KOs” wins! Ready?
[After the battle is over.]
Tails: Hey, Sonic! We’ve got to run a full inspection on Emerl! We need to
find out what it’s capable of since Eggman is looking for it. We should take
him to the “Central Lab” now!
Sonic: Don’t stress so much Tails!
Tails: Sonic, come on! Sonic! I’ll take him there myself if I have to!
Sonic: OK, OK Tails! We’ll both go with you!
Tails: No, it’s all right! I can take Emerl there myself! Come on Emerl!

Tails: Emerl, let’s go!

Lab: is east of this town. It’s inside “Central City”. Now follow me closely.

[When Tails and Emerl arrive at the Central Lab in Central City.]
Tails: We’re finally here! Good job, Emerl!
Emerl: Good job! Good job!
Security: Hey! What are you doing here?
[Tails looks confused and turns around.]
Tails: What?
Security: This is a restricted area!
[Tails looks upset.]
Tails: But... But... I have to examine Emerl here. Won’t you please let us in?
Security: Nope. No way!
Tails: Oh, come on! ...Soniccc...
[Tails and Emerl head over to the Crossing area.]
Tails: What should we do, Emerl?
[Rouge appears on the screen.]
Rouge: What’s the matter, kids? You lost your mama?
[Tails looks angry and Emerl turns to face Rouge.]
Tails: R, Rouge...? Let’s go, Emerl!
Rouge: So its name is Emerl?
Tails: What’s it to you?
Rouge: You want to go to the Central Lab, right?
[An exclamation mark appears above Tails’ head then he looks upset again.]
Tails: What? How did you know that?
Rouge: *Sigh* It’s written all over your face. I’ll let you in the “Central
Lab” if you come with me. I’m an agent for the President, you know.
[Tails raises his fist.]
Tails: But you’re always so mean to us! And I’m not supposed to talk to
strangers!
[Rouge crosses her arms.]
Rouge: OK, then... What if we just played a little game?
[Tails looks happy.]
Tails: Game?
[Rouge also looks happy.]
Rouge: Just a little fight. If you and your robot get 10 KOs first, you win.
And for winning, I’ll lend you my “Lab Pass”. With this, you can enter the
Central Lab any time you want! What do you say? It shouldn’t be any problem for
you to win my “Lab Pass”, right?
Tails: Well... I suppose... Why do you want to help us out anyway?
Rouge: You two precious little boys seemed so lost.
[Tails looks upset again.]
Tails: I don’t trust you.
Rouge: Whether you do or don’t, are you ready? Shall we begin?
[After the battle is over.]
Rouge: Ugh... Not bad! Here’s the “Lab Pass” as I promised. Now you can enter
the “Central Lab” without any difficulty.
Tails: T, Thanks...
Emerl: Thanks! Thanks!
Rouge: Oh, what a good little boy! Won’t you tell me your name?
Emerl: ... ... ...
[Rouge crosses her arms.]
Rouge: ... ... ... It really doesn’t listen to anybody but its “Master”. OK.

[Rouge leaves, leaving Tails confused.]
Tails: What’s a “Master”? You don’t know, Emerl?

Tails: Hmm... It’s difficult to determine how much you understand, when I’m
talking... Let’s go to the “Central Lab” now we have the “Lab Pass:! I should
know more about you after an inspection!
Emerl: Let’s go! Let’s go!
[Tails and Emerl head over to the Central Lab.]
Security: You again? How many times do I have to...
Tails: I, I have this...
Security: Y-you’re a friend of Ms. Rouge? I’m terribly sorry for the
inconvenience, sir! Please come in!

[The two enter the dark Central Lab.]
Tails: OK, it’s time to find out everything about you, Emerl! Let’s examine
your structural data.
Emerl: ??? ???
Tails: Your structural data will tell us who your creator was, what you were
created for, and so on... Since I already know you were created by Eggman, I
need to be on my guard.

Tails: No, no, you don’t have to be on guard! I’m just going to plug this thing

Tails: Scanning Emerl’s Structure...!

[Tails looks confused.]
Tails: What? What’s wrong here? The lab computer should be able to scan even
Eggman’s machines... Hmm... Time to get serious. Let me go through the security

Rouge: Who’s coming?
Emerl: Sonic! It’s Sonic!
[Sonic appears on the screen]
Sonic: Emerl!
Emerl: Sonic!
Rouge: Sonic! How did you find us?
Sonic: A wild guess! A hedgehog’s hunch!
Emerl: Sonic, good to see you! Sonic, good to see you!
Sonic: So, Rouge, what were you planning to do with him? If you’ve done
something bad with him, I won’t let you off easy!
Rouge: And now, why would I want to do such a thing? Come on! I’ll take you on!
[After the battle]
Sonic: Hmph! Is that all you got?
Unknown voice: Sonic!
[An exclamation mark appears above Emerl]
Emerl: Tails! Knuckles!
Sonic: I’ll get Emerl back somehow!
[After the battle]
Emerl: Sonic, let’s play more! Play more!
Sonic: Hey, stop it! This is serious!
Emerl: Serious?
Sonic: That’s right.
Emerl: Serious talk! Let me join you! Play time! Play time!
Sonic: Hey, Emerl, stop it!
Rouge: Oh, that’s it! I give up!
Sonic: Hey, stop pulling my needles, Emerl!
Rouge: Boy this is ridiculous. That’s why I’m only interested in jewelry. I’d
never want to be a “mom” like that girl.
[Sonic looks confused]
Sonic: What girl?
Rouge: Good luck with everything, daddy!
Sonic: Daddy?
[Amy appears]
Amy: Hey, I got you now! You thieving bat!
[Sonic turns to face Amy]
Amy: And Sonic! Wait for me Sonic, I’ll be a good mom. Just hang on! Hold it
there, thief!
Sonic: Amy?
Rouge: Al right! You can have the “Chaos Emerald”. He already has it anyway.
Sheesh, what kind of mess have I gotten myself into?

~~ CHAPTER 4: KNUCKLES THE ECHIDNA ~~

[A black screen with the white box saying]
It was discovered that Emerl needed “Chaos Emeralds”. Hearing this, a spark of
interested was triggered...
Knuckles: It needs “Chaos Emeralds”?! There’s no way I’m gonna sit this one
out!
It was discovered that Emerl could learn techniques merely by watching others
fight. Upon hearing these words, that spark became a flame...
Knuckles: The harder he trains, the stronger he gets? Here’s a warrior after my
own heart! I must help him reach his full potential! He’s with Sonic?! If Sonic
trains him, he’ll never grow strong! They’re probably at “Tails’ Lab”. I must
find them!
Yet elsewhere, another man yearns to “help,” to achieve explosive results...
Eggman: Hah hah hah!!! Go!! Go, my faithful “Phi” robots! Bring Gizoid back to
me!
Phi: Roger!
2nd Phi: Roger!
3rd Phi: Roger!
[Knuckles arrives at Tails’ Lab]
Knuckles: Hey! Emerl! Are you here? I’m here to teach you. I have special moves
I want to show you!
Tails: Oh, Knuckles! Welcome!
Emerl: Welcome, Knuckles. Thank you for coming.
Knuckles: Huh? Since when did he start talking intelligently?
Tails: It started when we gave him a “Chaos Emerald”. Isn’t I great?
Emerl: Hello! Hurry up and teach me already!
Knuckles: I can’t tell if he’s being polite, or if he’s just rude...
Tails: Emerl can only use words that he’s heard. So he talks like Sonic and me,
but all mixed up.
Emerl: Don’t worry about it! Will you please teach me?
Knuckles: ... This won’t work. Emerl! It’s time for me to test your strength!
Get “10 KOs” odd of e to prove your worth!
[Knuckles raises his fist]
Knuckles: You better have not gotten weaker since we last met!
[After the battle]
Knuckles” Ummm... Not bad... I shouldn’t have held back so much...
[We hear the news]
News: Breaking news!
[Emerl, Tails and Knuckles look surprised]
News: We are bringing you a special report! A mysterious robot has appeared in
“Night Babylon”.
[Tails raises a fist]
Tails: Hey! It’s the fake Emerl!
Knuckles: It’s finally decided to show itself, eh?! Let’s go, Emerl!
Emerl: Follow me!
[Knuckles raises a fist]
Knuckles: Hey!! That’s my line!
[Knuckles and Emerl run off screen leaving Tails looking upset]
Tails: Oh no, they’re gone. I hope those two will be okay...
[Knuckles and Emerl arrive at Amy’s Room, she looks happy]
Amy: Hey! I found Emerl!
Knuckles: Amy...
Amy: Huh? Where’s Sonic?
Knuckles: Who knows?
[Amy looks worried]
Amy: Darn! I thought he was coming here with Emerl to propose to me!
Knuckles: R-right. Well, I’m in a rush, so I gotta get going.
Emerl: In your dreams! Now if you’ll excuse us...
[Knuckles and Emerl leave, leaving Amy happy?]
Amy: That Sonic... He’s probably just embarrassed! Maybe I’ll go find him
myself!
[A love heart appears on Amy]
Amy: What do you think, Emerl?
[A question mark appears above Amy]
Amy: Huh? Hey! Where’d you go?
[Knuckles and Emerl arrive at the Crossing and see Guard Robo, Gamma]
Robo Gamma: Target acquired.
Knuckles: Gamma, is that you? Last time, you ran off without even answering me!
[Robo Gamma pulls out a gun]
Robo Gamma: Initiating battle mode.
[Knuckles looks serious]
Knuckles: Heh... Get ready, Emerl! It means business!
Emerl: Shut up! I’ll tear this rustbucket apart!
Knuckles: Hey, when did you start talking like that?
[After the first battle Gamma gets ready for another fight]
Robo Gamma: ... Initiating systems check… Initiating repair systems... ...All
systems nominal.
[Robo Gamma shakes as he charges up]
Robo Gamma: Initiating battle mode.
Knuckles: Emerl! Watch yourself! Looks like it’s not done yet!
[After the second battle Gamma gives up]
Robo Gamma: Mission failed...
[Knuckles gets very angry at Robo Gamma, and looks ready for another fight]
Knuckles: Why won’t you answer me?!
[Robo Gamma escapes]
[Knuckles looks serious again]
Knuckles: ...It’s gone.
Even when you were with Tails, it looked like it was after you.
[Rouge arrives, looking happy]
Rouge: It is...
Knuckles: Rouge?!
Emerl: Hello! Where the heck have you been?
[Rouge pouts]
Rouge: Looks like your little baby has got quite a mouth on him.
[Knuckles looks ready to fight]
Knuckles: Hey, it’s not me! Blame Sonic!
Rouge: Quick to blame others, as usual, I see.
Emerl: Hey, it’s not me! Blame Sonic!
[Knuckles puts on a serious face]
Knuckles: All right, all right. I’ll be more careful.
[Rouge goes back to looking happy]
Rouge: That robot you just fought probably isn’t the robot you guys know as
“Gamma”.
Knuckles: What?!
Rouge: Dr. Eggman has been experimenting with using “Chaos Emeralds” on robot
cores. He used a bunch of old parts to create guinea pigs for his experiments.
That robot’s probably just has parts that you recognize.
Knuckles: Even if it’s someone else... Why is it after Emerl?
[Rouge pouts]
Rouge: Well, Emerl took the “Chaos Emerald” that Dr. Eggman was using for his
experiments. I think he wants revenge or something. I mean, Chaos Emeralds are
very powerful. I sorta understand how he feels. Well then. You boys be careful
out there, okay?
[Rouge leaves]
Knuckles: That might explain why it seemed like that robot wasn’t trying...
[Knuckles gets confused]
Knuckles: Huh? Where’d she go? And what was she doing here, anyway?
[Knuckles faces Emerl]
Knuckles: Hey Emerl! You better be careful! I don’t think they’ve given up on
trying to take you back yet!
[Emerl sticks arm out]
Emerl: Gotcha! You better watch yourself, too!
Knuckles: R-right...
[The two go to Night Babylon]
[Knuckles smiles as he and Emerl goes in the Night Club]
Store Clerk: Welcome!
Knuckles: Hey! Have you heard? The news said that there’s a strange robot
lurking around here...
Store Clerk: R-right behind you!
Knuckles: Huh? No, this guy’s different...
Store Clerk: Aaack! It’s coming to get me!!!
Summon the Guard Robo!
[Knuckles gets ready to fight]
Knuckles: Hey! I’m telling you this guy’s not the theif! Listen to me!
[A Guard Robo appears]
Guard Robo: You Rang?
Store Clerk: C-capture them!
Guard Robo: Roger that!
[The Guard Robo’s are quickly defeated]
Knuckles: Let’s get out of here, Emerl!
Emerl: What’re we gonna do?! Looks like things are about to get messy!
[Knuckles and Emerl head for the Casino]
Emerl: Let’s go to the next spot!
Knuckles: H-hey! Emerl, wait!
[Emerl turns around, looking confused]
Emerl: Whaddaya want, Knuckles? Nobody can stop me!
Knuckles: Just wait a second!
[Emerl turns around again]
Emerl: I’m not gonna let you get ahead of me!
[Knuckles is outraged by that remark]
Knuckles: Shut up!
[Emerl stops obeying Knuckles, but Knuckles doesn’t know that yet]
Emerl: ...
Sonic...
[Emerl shakes]
Emerl: Sonic!! Sonic!!!
[Emerl keeps on shaking]
[Knuckles calms down and puts on a serious face]
Knuckles: I-I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to yell at you. Please, just pipe down,
okay?
Emerl: Sonic...
[Knuckles smiles at Emerl]
Knuckles: Just wait here, okay? I’ll go on ahead, so just be a good boy and
wait.
[Knuckles leaves]
Emerl: Sonic!! Sonic!!!
[Emerl ran off by the time Knuckles came back. Leaving Knuckles
dissapointed and angry]
Knuckles: Awww... I wanted to be the one to get it...
Hm? Emerl? Hey! Where’d you go?
Quit clowning around, Emerl! Where are you?
This isn’t good... I should start looking for him.
[Knuckles goes to the Theater, to look for Emerl]
Knuckles: Have you seen a robot around here?
Store Clerk: A red echidna...
You’re the guy who wrecked Night Club!
Call the guard Robo!
[Knuckles, once again gets ready for a fight]
Knuckles: Why doesn’t anybody listen to me?!
[After the fight Knuckles is ticked off]
Knuckles: That does it!
[Knuckles goes into the Hotel]
Store Clerk: Welcome.
Aaack! Somebody help me!
Knuckles: Looks like I’m famous now.
[Knuckles quickly ends the battle]
Knuckles: I should probably look somewhere else.
[Knuckles goes to Club Rouge]
Knuckles: What is this place...?
“Club Rouge”???
She owns this place??? Man, something smells fishy here...
Well, I still better check it out!
[Knuckles goes inside]
Store Clerk: This is a battle club for members only.
I must first test your skill.
[Knuckles gets impatient]
Knuckles: Silence! Where is she? Hmm…
[Knuckles turns around to see Rouge and Emerl!]
Emerl: Ha! You rustbucket, I’ll tear you apart!
[Knuckles is shocked and confused by what Emerl just said]
Knuckles: Emerl! What are you doing?
[Emerl Fights against Rouge, and wins]
Emerl: I am invincible!
[Knuckles smiles at Emerl]
Knuckles: Emerl!
[Emerl turns around]
Emerl: Hey, Knuckles! I’ve been lookin’ all over for ya!
Knuckles: I’VE been looking for YOU!
Let’s go!
Rouge: I suppose you think echidnas are special and you don’t have to pay the
entrance fee?
Knuckles: Rouge! What’re you planning to do with Emerl?!
[Rouge pouts]
Rouge: How rude...
Emerl came to me. He probably missed me.
[Rouge stops pouting]
Rouge: My, you’ve grown strong... Gives me goose bumps thinking about it.
[Knuckles looks serious]
Knuckles: So much confidence...
[The screen flashed white]
Store Clerk: W-who the heck are you?!
Aaarrggh!
[Phi appears]
Phi: Located! Located!
Rouge: Is that... Phi?!
[Knuckles looks ready for a fight]
Knuckles: What?!
It looks just like Emerl...
All right, Emerl! Let’s do this!
[Emerl sticks arm out]
Emerl: All right! Let’s blow this taco stand!
Rouge: Those two are sounding more and more alike...
[After the Battle]
Knuckles: Hah! Nothing’s better than the real thing!
[An Emerald shard came out of the Phi bot]
Emerl: Shard! Shard!
Knuckles: Shard?
Emerl: There! There!
[Knuckles takes the Shard]
Knuckles: This thing fell out of Phi...
Rouge: Phi is powered by “Chaos Emerald” shards.
I’ve actually got one, too, here, take it.
[Rouge gives the shard to Emerl]
Emerl: Thank you very much! Looks like you’ve got a use after all!
[Rouge is outraged by that remark]
Rouge: Well, I never...! How exactly are you raising him anyway?
Knuckles: S-sorry...
Rouge: I’ve got no use for a measly shard.
[Rouge smiles]
Rouge: I’ll collect on this dept some other day by taking your Master Emerald.
[Knuckles gets angry]
Knuckles: You wish!
Rouge: Hah! Are you forgetting that I’m the world’s greatest theif?
But perhaps you should first ask your little fox friend what he knows about the
shards. I’ve already seen him absorb a Chaos Emerald...
[Knuckles smiles]
Knuckles: Good point. We should go back and talk to Tails about this.
Rouge: Come back to “Club Rouge” any time, boys!
[A heart comes out of Rouge]
Knuckles: No thanks!
[Knuckles and Emerl go to Tails’ Lab]
Knuckles: Tails! We’re back!
Tails: Hey, Knuckles! Emerl! Welcome back!
Emerl: I’m home, Tails! Have you been a good boy?
Tails: Yup! How about you? Were you a good boy?
Emerl: Heck yeah!
Tails: Knuckles! What’ve you been teaching him?!
[Tails looks upset]
Tails: Looks like he’s gotten a lot stronger. (But it looks like he’s not
getting much smarter…)
Knuckles: Look, I was careful around him. Right Emerl?
[Emerl sticks arm out]
Emerl: Heck yeah! Knuckles doesn’t mess around!
[An exclamation mark appears on top of Knuckles head]
Knuckles: H-hey, that reminds me!
Tails: What...
Knuckles: We found this!
[Tails cheers up]
Tails: That’s a “Chaos Emerald!”
Knuckles: Well, a shard of one.
Tails: Let me see it.
If you could get 2 more shards of the same color, you could probably form a
whole Emerald.
[Knuckles looks fed up]
Knuckles: 2 more, huh? That bat lady said that the fake Emerls all had shards.
Tails: That’s right! The fake Emerls are all powered by Emerald shards!
Knuckles: Yeah, Eggman tried to copy Emerl’s technology.
[Tails put on a determined look]
Tails: Hmm... And knowing him, he’s probably going to come and try to take
Emerl back!
[Knuckles looks as if he is ready for a fight]
Knuckles: All right, Emerl! Time to train! Come with me to the beach! I’ll
make you strong enough to beat Eggman!
[Knuckles runs off to the Beach]
Emerl: Hey! Whaddya think you’re doing! Don’t go running in front of me!
[Emerl runs off to Knuckles]
[Tails is depressed]
Tails: Nope, he’s not getting smarter at all...
[At the beach]
Knuckles: Okay, Emerl... I’ve been holding back up until now.
But, there’s no excuse for me losing, even if I was holding back.
[Knuckles gets ready for a fight]
Knuckles: It’s about time we settle once and for all! A “1 KO Battle”!
[After a quick match]
Knuckles: Hah hah hah! You sure are a powerful annoying little kid!
Emerl: ... I sure am!
[Knuckles puts on a serious face]
Knuckles: *Grrr*
[Eggman appears]
Eggman: Hah hah hah! Well, Gizoid! I see that you’ve really started to grow up!
Knuckles: Eggman!
Eggman: Long time no see!
Emerl: Huh? Who are you?!
Eggman: Huh?!
It’s me! Dr. Eggman! You should learn some respect! Especially since you
absorbed my special “Chaos Emerald”!
[Eggman is angry at Emerl]
Eggman: enough! Get him, phi #4! Capture Gizoid!
[After the fight]
Knuckles: Hmph! Did you think your robot could stop us? That “Emerald shard”
is ours!
[Knuckles recieves the Emerald shard]
Emerl: I’m feeling great!
Eggman: Darn! Retreat!
[Eggman runs away]
Knuckles: I’m not letting you get away!
Let’s get him, Emerl!
Emerl: Don’t fall behind Knuckles
[Knuckles gets angry at Emerl’s ignorance]
Knuckles: H-hey! Emerl, wait!
[Knuckles and Emerl head for the Central City and go to the crossing
section]
Eggman: So, you’ve caught up with me!
[Eggman raises fists]
Eggman: You persistent punks!
Get them, Phi #5!
[After the battle Emerl obtains the Emerald shard]
Knuckles: Ha haa!!!
Emerl: Iyaaa!
Knuckles: Not too bad, partner!
Emerl: partner?
Knuckles: Yeah, you’re my battle partner!
[Eggman turns around and the background goes black]
Eggman: ...You’re stronger than I expected.
All the Phi robots I brought with me have been destroyed...
Just as I expec... Er... No! This couldn’t have happened!
[Eggman turns back around and the background goes back to normal]
Eggman: Aaargh... I’ve been defeated...
I must retreat to “Gimme Shelter.”
THEY’LL NEVER FIND ME IN “Gimme Shelter,” LOCATED IN “Night Babylon”!
Knuckles: We got the fifth “Emerald shard,” but we’ll head back to Tail’s Lab
later! We gotta catch Eggman!
[Knuckles looks ready for a fight]
Knuckles: We’ll get him this time!
Emerl: I’ll make him pay!!!
Knuckles: Do I really say things like that?
[The two go to Night Babylon and head for Gimme Shelter]
Knuckles: Is this the place?! Where is he!
[Eggman appears]
Eggman: Gotcha!
[Knuckles got electrocuted]
Knuckles: Argh!
[Knuckles gets electrocuted again]
Knuckles: W-what’s going on?!
I can’t move!
[Emerl appears]
Emerl: What’s going on, Knuckles?
Knuckles: Don’t come any closer, Emerl!
Eggman: Hah hah hah hah!
You fell right into my trap, Knuckles!
Knuckles: You tricked me!
Eggman: Hah hah hah! I deserve an award for my acting!
And this ultra-powerful “Spikey rodent trap” I developed to catch Sonic works
perfectly!
It works ever better that I expected!
It shoots electricity through your body so you can’t move!
So, no matter how strong you are, if you can’t move, there’s no way for you to
escape!
Ha ha ha ha!
Knuckles: What’re you up to, Eggman?!
Eggman: What else? I shall take Gizoid back and fulfill my plans too take over
the world!
Once I have Gizoid acquire ultimate weapon, “Final Egg Blaster,”...
[Eggman raises fists]
Eggman: I’ll be able to use it as my final weapon of destruction!!
Knuckles: What the heck is the “Final Egg Blaster”?!
Eggman: Oops! T’s still supposed to be a secret!
[Eggman turns around to face Emerl]
Eggman: Well then! I must return to complete my secret “Final Egg Blaster,” so
you’ll have to excuse me! I leave the rest to you, “Chaos Gamma”!!
Chaos Gamma: If I win, you’ll give me a “Chaos Emerald,” right? You promise?
Eggman: Of course! I promise! But, be sure to bring Gizoid with you!
That Gizoid is not full awakened.
And since that rodent is incapacitated, there’s nothing he can do to stop me!
Chaos Gamma: Understood. Power output max. Energy flow at 150%. Initiating
battle mode.
[Chaos Gamma pulls out a gun]
Knuckles: Emerl! Run!
[Emerl turns around]
Emerl: Don’t worry about it, partner!
[After the first fight]
Chaos Gamma: ... ... ... Auto-check start... Recovery initiated... ... ... ...
[Chaos Gamma shakes]
Chaos Gamma: I cannot lose... power output at 200%! Energy flow 200%!
Initiating battle... mode...
[After the second fight]
Chaos Gamma: Grrrr... Power output draining... Energy draining... ... Battle
impossible.
[Chaos Gamma shakes as he dies]
Emerl: Knuckles, you okay?
Knuckles: Great job, partner!
Emerl: I’m invincible!
Knuckles: You said it!
Let’s go!
[Knuckles get electrocuted]
Knuckles: ...
[Knuckles looks serious]
Knuckles: I can’t move...
He said that I’m being immobilized by electricity...
Hey, Emerl! Do you see a “switch” over there? If you can flip the switch, I
should be able to move.
[Emerl sticks arm out]
Emerl: Come on, Knuckles! Is that all you got?!
Knuckles: What?! I’ll show you...! My true strength!!!!!
[Knuckles puts on a fighting pose, and also gets electrocuted]
Knuckles: Grraaaaah!!!!
[Knuckles turns around, getting electrocuted again]
Knuckles: Aaaaaaaarrrrrggh!
[Knuckles turns around again, with the same fate]
Emerl: Oh, I wonder if this is the right “switch.”
[Emerl presses the switch]
Knuckles: Grrrrruh??
[Knuckles, still thinking he is stuck, shakes so hard he hits the wall]
[Knuckles is not amused]
Knuckles: Ouch!
Hey... You did that on purpose!
[Emerl turns around]
Emerl: Let’s go! Stop wasting time!
[Emerl leaves]
Knuckles: Hey, wait up!
If you keep talking like that, Sonic will smack you!
[The two go to Tails’ Lab]
Tails: Welcome back! You guys were gone a while!
W-What happened?! You both look horrible!
Knuckles: Heh heh...
[Knuckles turns around to face Emerl]
Knuckles: Wh-?!
[Emerl sticks his arm out]
Emerl: Wh-?!
Tails: ??? What is it?!
Knuckles: Look what we found!
Tails: Hey! The last two “Emerald shards”! I have enough shards to make a
whole “Chaos Emerald”!!!
[Tails turns around]
Tails: Hold on one second...
[The screen turns black]
[The screen goes back to normal]
Tails: There you go, Emerl!
[Tails turns around and gives Emerl the Emerald]
Emerl has acquired the “third” Chaos Emerald!
Emerl: ...
Tails: So, Emerl, how do you feel?
Emerl: Really good! Thanks, Tails!
Tails: You’ve grown a little bit more!
But, if you’re going to thank anyone, thank Knuckles!
Emerl: Oh yeah! Thanks, partner!
Tails: Partner? Just what happened out there, anyway?
[Knuckles turns around and the background turns black]
Knuckles: (Hey, Emerl! Let’s just keep the fact that Eggman tricked me our
little secret, ok?)
Emerl: (Sure thing, partner!)
[The background goes back to normal]
Emerl: It’s a secret, but my partner got tricked by Eggman again!
A secret!
Right, partner?!
[Knuckles looks like he is ready for a fight and shakes with anger]
Knuckles: Why you...!!!!
[Sonic arrives, pointing at himself]
Sonic: Hey, guys! Looks like you’re all having fun!
[Emerl turns around, shocked to see Sonic]
Emerl: Hey! Sonic!
Hey, Sonic! Guess what! It’s a secret, but Knuckles got fooled by Eggman again!
Knuckles: Emerl!!!!
[Knuckles shakes with anger]
