XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Mario and Luigi is one of the best RPGs to ever come to the GBA. Not only is
Luigi in this, he gets to smack Mario around! It contains all the classic
remixed of the old Mario melodies and contains new ones that are bound to be
remembered. I wrote this FAQ as a dedication to this wonderful game, and
support for a sequel. Long live Luigi! This walkthrough does contain spoilers,
so please be warned.

                         (2.1) Story and Characters
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

So, one day, in peaceful Mushroom Kingdom, a goodwill ambassador comes in to
give something to Princess Peach. That gift is...gas. It takes Princess
Peach's voice and everyone around her starts to freak out. It turns out that
this was not an ambassador, it was the evil witch, Cackletta! She steals her
voice. Whenever Peach speaks, all that happens are bombs that drop right out
of speech bubbles attack you! Mario hears about this and plans to stop the
evil witch! Somehow though, Luigi and Bowser(That's right, Bowser) tags along
and some strange events start happening. Why would Cackletta want Peach's
voice? Mario tries to find out following Cackletta all throughout Beanbean
Kingdom.

Characters:
===========
Mario
-----
He's the hero. You know, the one with the red shirt, blue overalls, and a red
cap with the letter M on it. He's a little short and fat like your ordinary
plumber who used to live in Brooklyn but magically appeared in Mushroom
Kingdom. Mario makes cool BOING!s when he jumps.

Luigi
-----
The other main character in this game. He's usually forgotten about. He
usually has to "take care of the house", or just plain old disappears. He has
few actual appearances in games. Now is his time to shine! Hopefully, not too
many people can miss the lean, green, fighting machine. Luigi is tall and has
a deeper voice than Mario.

Bowser
------
Usually the main bad guy in this game capturing Princess Peach and acting all
tough. What happened here, why does he want to help Mario? Bowser is a Koopa.
He has a tough green, spiked shell, sharp teeth, and orange, scaly skin.

Peach
-----
She's the mistress in mayhem. Always getting captured, someone stealing her
castle, someone stealing her voice, always something going on with her. She
supposedly has a good heart, but we barely see that with all the chaos going
about around her. Peach has blond hair, a frilly pink dress, and rules over
Mushroom Kingdom.

Fawful
------
Cackletta's faithful servant. He speaks strangely, talking about "fink-rats"
and "mustard of doom." He is green with a strange helmet, somewhat like that
nerdy kid across the street from your house, except much, much more evil. He
plays a somewhat major role in the story.

Cackletta
---------
The wicked witch of the west. She is the Bowser of Beanbean Kingdom, where
this story takes place. She can cast spells, transform, and cast shadows of
evil. She has weird, big, green eyes and wears clothing of purple.

Prince Peasley
--------------
The show-it-off prince of Beanbean Kingdom with the ugliest theme song ever.
He tries to do things before Mario and Luigi, but always ends up looking
stupid. He is green wearing all white with a feather in his hat, looking like
the Sultan from Aladdin.

Queen Bean
----------
The Queen of Beanbean Kingdom. She is fat and green like most other residents.
Doesn't play much of a role here, but is still worth a mention. :)

Popple
------
He calls himself a shadow thief. He's like a rival throughout the game. He
likes to steal items from you during battle. Popple just causes mischief and
nothing more.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
                            (2.3) Getting Started
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

At the very beginning of the game, there will be three options. The first
being the acutal game, the second is Classic Mario, and the third is Options.
To start your game, select the first option. You will now be taken to a screen
with three folders. Select any one of them and select the only option.

When you want to continue your game, come back to this menu by restarting the
game. Choose your game file. There will be four options, the first being
continue, the second is copy, the third is delete, and the fourth is cancel.
Each one of these options is pretty self explanatory. If you don't understand
them, get a dictionary.

In the options menu, there will be several options. For each of the options,
the left side of the button is On, the right side is Off. The first option is
Easy Sleep. When this is turned up, you can press Select + L + R to make the
game go to Easy Sleep. The screen goes blank and much less battery power is
used. It /is/ still being used though, so keep that in mind.

The second option is rumble. This option will be faded unless this game is
hooked up onto the GameBoy Player which allows you to play GameBoy Advance
games on the Gamecube. The GameBoy Player is not included in this game.

The third option Auto Sleep. This will set the game in Easy Sleep
automatically after 1 minute of inactiveness. I usually turn this on.

That's all you need to know to get started. Everything else you can figure
out yourself by playing the game and using the controls. Or, you could
continue reading this FAQ. ^_^

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
                            (2.4) The Field Screen
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

The field screen is where you'll spend most of your time playing. It's
basically the game map. I'll describe each of the things that you might see.

On the top righthand corner, you'll see an A Button and a B Button. At the
very beginning of this game, both will just be arrows pointing up. These are
your commands. By press A, either Mario or Luigi(depending on who's up front)
will perform the action listed in A. B does the same, but for the back. See
all the different actions you can get by walking up to people, up to items, or
pressing L and R. The person in back can do bros. actions. These are mandatory
to cross mazes and dungeons. Scroll through the bros. actions and practice
using each one. As your progress through the game, you'll learn more commands.

You may also find the classic blocks in the game. Like in other Mario games,
just jump and hit them in order to get the goodies inside. Normal blocks will
contain either coins or items. Once in a while, a block will be empty or
you'll have to hit it several times to get all the goodies help within.
Sometimes, you'll find special blocks though.

One kind of block has an arrow next to. Have Mario and Luigi stand
horizantally(this was <-->) underneath the block. Have the person underneath
the block jump and hit the block. The block should then move to the right with
the letter M or L depending on who's in the back. Have the person in back hit
it, then the block moves back over the person in front's head. Keep hitting
the block back and forth until it disappears. Each time you hit the block
correctly, it'll get you one coin.

Another kind of block is called the random block. These blocks look the same
as normal blocks, except they are much wider and fatter. Position Mario and
Luigi right below the block so both of them can hit it. Hit it once with any
character, then the block will change to either an M or an L. Hit is with the
respective character. Each time you hit it, the block will change to an M or
an L. Hit it until it disappears.

You can also encounter things called bike pads. They will usually hover in
mid-air and both Mario and Luigi can jump on top of them. Jump on them, then
press Left or Right with A or B to move to the other side.

Later in the game, you may find a rally block. These will never disappear
unless you miss when hitting them. There will be a counter. One brother hits
it and it goes far away to the other brother. Then that brother hits it. As
you get higher numbers, the block will move faster.

There is one more block that appears in this game. It's called a Save Album,
and it's the most important one in the game. This block can usually be found
in towns and have an S on it. It's also blue. Jump and hit it in order to save
your game. This is the only time in which you can save.

While traveling, you're bound to find some enemies. Just touch them to start
a battle. Read the Battle Screen section for more details.

You may also find pipes. Green pipes connect to other green pipes that you
have found. To add a location to the places that you can teleport, walk into
green pipes when you find them. Yellow pipes lead underwater.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
                            (2.5) The Battle Screen
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

To start a battle, just touch an enemy. However, you can do a few things to
your advantage. If you can jump on an enemy before the battle even begins, you
will do damage to their entire party! Using things like the hammer can also
work. You have to watch out for the back person though. If the opponent
attacks the person in back before the battle, then the person in back will be
unable to avoid attacks until their turn.

During battle, 4 stats are being used. They are you attack, defense, speed,
and stache. Attack determines the amount of damage that is caused when you
attack an enemy. Defense determines the amount of damage you take when you are
hit. Speed decides the order of battle. Stache is you luck. Sometimes, you
will get lucky in your attack and deal twice as much damage.

During your turn in battle, there are 4 things that you can do. On is solo.
This block is the one with one face on it. This is your main attack. Once you
obtain more abilities, you can do more than just jumping on an opponent.

Another block is Bros. Attack. This is the block with two heads on it. You
need both Mario Bros. alive in order to use it. Select the Bros. Attack that
you want to use. Then use L and R to select the level. Level 1 is in slow
motion and tells you what button to press. Level 2 only tells you what button
to press. Level 3 leaves you on your own, but requires less BP to use. Each
Bros. Attack uses BP. These attacks are stronger than a normal Solo.

You can also use items that you pick up. Go to the block with the mushroom.
Press A/B and select the item that you want to use and just confirm it again.

If you're not fighting a mandatory boss, then you have the option to run from
battle. Hit the block with the black figure. Now press A or B as fast as you
can, depending on who you chose to run with. You must escape with both bros
or nothing. When you run, you also drop coins which you can't get back.

Whenever you use a solo attack, you can press a button so that the attack
deals more damage. Whenever you jump, press A or B depending on who use jumped
with right before you land on the enemy to deal more damage. Other attacks
will be described in the attack section after the walkthrough.

When your opponent attacks, you can also try to avoid it. You can either use
the jump or hammer defense. Press A or B depending on who you want to jump
with. A always corresponds to Mario, and B to Luigi. If you time your evasion
right, it might deal damage to the opponent. There's usually some sign when
the opponent attack to see which attack it'll be and who it'll attack. Watch
how they attack and keep that in mind.

While battling, keep an eye on your HP and BP. On the bottom left corner of
the screen, you'll see some numbers. The number next to the heart means HP,
the number next to the dot is the BP. The red bar is Mario's the green bar is
Luigi's.

Whenever you end a battle, you can coins and experience. When you get enough
experience, you'll level up. You will gain some extra points in your stats and
the bonus reel will appear. Pick the stat that you want to rise and if you're
lucky, you'll get a high number. Don't choose the same stat too many times or
you'll have lower numbers!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
                              (2.6) The Suitcase
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

At the beginning of the game, you will obtain a suitcase. Once you get this,
you can press select at almost any time in the game to bring up a menu. The
first option will be items. There, you can view every item that you have
collected throughout the entire game. Press A to use an item. The ones that
you can't use will be grayed out. Press L and R to switch through different
sections of your items. The mushroom symbol is normal items, the key is key
items, and the bean is beans.

The next item down in the suitcase is equiptment. This is where you equip
Mario and Luigi. During your journey, you can buy new equiptment. Once you do,
just go to this screen and press A on one of the selections and press A again
on the item that you want to equip. Mario and Luigi has equiptment that they
can share and also ones that are exclusive to themselves. As you progress in
the game, you will get better things that have special effects and also more
things to equip.

The third thing down is status. Here, you can view the status for Mario and
Luigi. You can see their current stats and HP. Press L and R to switch
between Mario and Luigi.

The fourth thing down is map. The map will indicate your position with the
heads of Mario and Luigi. The place where you are supposed to go will have a
red flag on it. Press A to toggle the names of the places on and off.

                                 (2.7) Tips
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Here are some basic tips that should go form ost RPGs. If you've played an RPG
before, chances are that you already know most of these.

1. Talk to everybody that you see. They often give vital tips and sometimes
items.

2. Save very often. You never know when all of a sudden your GBA runs out of
batteries or you do something stupid.

3. Battle often. Leveling up is the key to having an easier time with the
bosses.

4. When you level up, use the bonus reel for attack. It's the most important
stat in the game.

5. Explore your world. Find many green pipes to make things easier.

6. Save your beans. These are important to getting high stats later in the
game.

As you start your new game, watch the scene unfold in front of you. The plot
develops as your foe appears. When you regain control, you will be Toad after
running past Luigi. Take a look around the house if you wish. Notice the hat
and the hammer. Anyway, walk into the bathroom and Toad will certainly have a
fright! I would too if I saw..er..well, I'll leave that to you to find out.
^_^ Mario will come rushing outside and jumps straight into the laundry which
Luigi was doing, pulling him right along the string. Notice the cap being on
his head which was not on the laundry. >_>

When you arrive in Princess Peach's castle, you'll see Bowser. Now you're both
in a dilemma. Bowser will see you, then attack. Here begins your first battle.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

                                -BOSS BATTLE-

+---------------------------------+
| BOSWSER                         |
|---------------------------------|
| HP          | 5000              |
| EXP Gained  | 0                 |
| Coins       | 0                 |
| Items       | 90                |
+---------------------------------+

This isn't much of a boss. Bowser had 5000HP, but he'll quit after about 5
turns. This is mostly a tutorial battle. After the first turn, Toad will
explain to you about action commands. Press A right before you land to deal
extra damage. After another turn, Toad will tell you about evading Bowser's
attacks. Practice those skills as they are vital to beating bosses later on in
the game. Just wait it out, it's not really possible to lose this.

                   <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

After the "boss", Bowser will chicken out of the match with a really good
excuse. You all decide to team up and help Peach(for each one's own reason of
course.) Bowser decides to meet you in his Koopa Cruiser. Peach opposes this
idea with some words of her own. Er..fade out to Toad Town.

TOAD TOWN
~~~~~~~~~
When you arrive outside, some guy will chat with you. Whatever, let's move on.
If you look around, there are many blocks around. Get used to the feel of the
game. Jump to the bush on your right. Hit the block to find a Mushroom. Give
it to the Toad looking for it by selecting the left option. He'll trade the
Mushroom for a Super Mushroom! Jump off and move towards the top. You should
find a baddie there. Talk to him to find out that he needs to go find Bowser.
Point him in the right direction by saying up. If you don't, that's all right,
you just miss out on a semi-useful item.
Ignore Luigi at the top and make a circle to the left. Jump on some ledges to
get to the very left. Talk to the guy there. He'll be missing something
precious. Still walking on the high bush, go all the way down towards the end.
Press A there to find Something Precious. Talk to the man and he'll reward you
with a 1 Up Mushroom. While still hanging on the edge. Jump towards the right
on the other edge to hit the block for a mushroom. That just about wraps up
things here.
Talk to Luigi if you wish and walk ip towards the next screen. Luigi will
follow you. Hit the Save Album to the left to save your game. If you walk up,
Bowser should be waiting for you. Toadsworth will stop you before you go on
board. He'll give you a suitcase and give you a quick tutorial about it.
Anyway, board the Koopa Cruiser. Bowser will then mistaken Luigi for wanting
to sign up with his baddies. He'll chase Luigi after getting his baddies and
it looks like he'll tag along today too. We're heading out of Toad Town now
and onto Beanbean Kingdom.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
                      (3.1) Skies Above Mushroom Kingdom
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
When the screen comes up, you will have Mr. Green Mario Guy as part of your
party. Go hit the Save Block. Head right into the next room. You'll see a
bunch of baddies working up on some basic skills. If you're a little unsure
about the controls to this game, Make sure you talk to them. They'll give you
vital information. Near the end of this room, you will see a Bros. Block. If
you know how to work one, go ahead and get some coins. If not, talk to the
baddies right above the block and they'll give you a good example.
Onto the next room. Talk to the people here. Try to continue, but you'll be
stopped to check for your passports. It's a good thing that Toadsworth put
them in your suitcases before going on board. (Luigi's too?) Press Select when
the baddie stops you in order to continue. However, you'll have no pictures.
Cut the line and take a picture with Mario. Make a funny pose for your game. I
liked left. After taking the picture for one brother, press Start to switch
and take it with the other. Again, feel free to make poses. When you're done,
you can continue. There should be a block containing a mushroom nearby. Before
you head up the stairs, make sure you go down near the crates to find a baddy.
He's the guy that needed help in Toad Town! If you pointed him in the right
direction, he rewards you with a 1-Up Mushroom. If not, he'll just diss you
and you can move on.
In this room, push the barrel blocking you by just pressing down on the
control pad. You'll be interrupted by another baddie. He'll want to teach you
how to fight as a pair. You can if you want. Yes is the left option, no is the
right. If you are itching for a fight, press A right in front of the shaking
barrel. If you break the barrel, you'll be forced to listen to the tutorial
however.
When you continue, you'll see another barrel blocking your way. You'll be
forced to break this one. Press A and confirm breaking it to reveal another
Goomba. Defeat and try to continue to be stopped by some guy. He'll be trying
to catch a Goomba. Listen to the tutorial about jumping on an enemy before it
attacks you, then finish off the battle. Catch the other Goomba for the poor
guy. You can't open up the barrels again after they're caught, so don't try.
Continue on to the next room.
It seems that a bunch of cargo is blocking your way. Save, then hit the
exclamation block up top. It seems that the crane mistook Luigi for cargo.
Poor Luigi. The baddies decide to ditch him and the game continues on to the
deck. Watch the scene. Poor, useless Bowser. -_- Cool evil plan indeed.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
                                -BOSS BATTLE-
+---------------------------------+
| FAWFUL                          |
|---------------------------------|
| HP          | 30                |
| EXP Gained  | 0                 |
| Coins       | 0                 |
| Items       | None              |
+---------------------------------+
Fawful is a silly boss. Bowser will give you a quick note on avoiding Fawful's
attacks. When he says "FINK-RAT" and the word is red, he will send a green
fireball in Mario's direction. It the word is green, he'll attack Luigi.
Fawful also has a second attack. When he says "watch out for this", this will
be red or green. That shows who he will attack first. If it's red, then he'll
attack Mario first with a green fireball, then Luigi and viceversa.
After you drain 15 HP from him, Fawful will lose his headgear. He'll now
attack you by rolling. He'll stop in front of each brother, then roll. Just
jump to avoid him and deal back 1 HP of damage.
                   <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
After defeating Fawful, he'll duke out the Koopa Cruiser. You'll all be sent
pummeling down into the ground.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
                            (3.2) Stardust Fields
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
When you regain control, go to the Save Album. Talk to the injured baddies to
find out that they hadn't finished paying for the Koopa Cruiser yet(=() and
that Bowser had landed on the other side. So of course, we now have to go find
him. Cross the bridge and into the castle. We'll now have to play a mini-game.
You get no penalty for losing, but it's insanely easy at this level. Read the
Mini-Game section for more details on this.
You can play some more and collect beans, but to continue, cross the bridge.
You'll be interrupted and recieve a map! Now you can view where you are,
excellent. Walk straight to the left and you should see a Green Pipe. Enter
it, then leave. That'll be useful for returning here later.
Jump down and start heading right. You should see a bunch of spiky things on
the floor. Jump over these by press A, then B really quickly. At the end of
the spikes, there's a block. Hit it for a Mushroom. Head left for two more
rows of spikes. At the end of those rows, there's another block containing
another Mushroom.
Walk across the bridge, then down to the next screen. You should see tall
cliffs and some Fighter Flies. Gain some experience by defeating them, then
head left. Jump on the steps and you'll see Bowser stuck in a cannon. A green
thing will then appear introducing himself as Tolstar. He want you to pay up
100 coins to set Bowser free. So pay him the 100 coins you got with your
suitcase. However, there's a problem. They are only worth 10 Beanbean coins!
We'll need to get 100 more, so Tolstar opens up the bridge to the bottom right
corner. Go there and cross it.
Go two screens up. There should be some spikey things here again. You should
know how to cross them by now, press A, then B quickly. Go up to find a
Fighter Fly. Defeat it for four coins. Hooray. There's also a Coin Block and
a Bros. Block in this area. Hit both. Go to the next screen. There will be a
Coin Block that you can hit multiple times and a block containing a Mushroom.
In the little flat area here, there are two Fighter Flies, although one may be
a little hard to see hiding behind a pillar. One of the Fighter Flies has Bill
Blasters in it's party, so be careful.
Head up the steps. Before falling down the cliff, take the Bike Pads. They
will lead you to a Bros. Block. Go back and fall down the cliff to the next
screen. Walk right and step on the star. Watch the scene, then say yes to
undergo Bros. Action training.
Watch them talk, then say no when they ask if you need another explaination.
Press L, then B to jump on Mario. Press B again to jump on the ledge. You will
now get another explanation talking about the Spin Jump. Say no when they ask
if you need another explanation, then do it. Press B, then B again and press
right to move to the edge.
They'll now ask if you're ready to return. The top option is return, the
middle is I don't get Hi Jumps, and the last is I don't get Spin Jumps. Say
return when you're ready. Now you have to touch the flag that's all the way up
on a cliff. This should be easy.
Switch so that Mario is in front and Luigi is in back. Use the High Jump to
get across the barrels to the right, the Hi Jump again on top of the barrels
there. Hi Jump yet again onto the cliff. Now switch so that Mario is in back.
Use the Spin Jump to get across the pit. Hi Jump on the ledge and hit the
block for a mushroom. Use the Spin Jump to fly across the pit to the left and
touch the flag.
Now that we're done with that, before you jump off go left on the barrels for
a block containing Syrup. Now jump down and head towards the southern path.
Hit the Save Album here. Defeat all the Fighter Flies here for some good
experience. Use the High Jump to get on the ledge right above the stairs for
a numerus coins, then over near the top to continue. Make sure you hit all the
blocks. Use the Spin Jump to get across. Hit the Bros. Block as many times as
you can. Walk across the bridge to the left.
As you enter this screen, you'll once again be interrupted by those two
general dudes who taught you about Bros. Actions. You'll be taught how to use
those actions in battle. Listen to the tutorial, then continue left.
Jump down and defeat all the Fighter Flies/Bullet Blasters. When finished,
jump back on the barrels near the beginning of the screen. Use the High Jump
to get on the barrels, then Spin Jump until you reach the path. Look familiar?
This was near where we first entered Stardust Fields. Cross the bridge and
you'll be where Bowser is stuck in the cannon. You should have well over 100
coins by now if you were defeating enemies and collecting coin blocks. If you
don't, go up and even further past Bowser, near the Green Pipe we entered
earlier. There should be some more coin blocks that you can get to with the
High Jump.
If you have enough coins, make sure you save. Of course, it's time for a boss
battle.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
                                -BOSS BATTLE-
+----------------------------------+
| TOLSTAR                          |
|----------------------------------|
| HP          | 50                 |
| EXP Gained  | 35                 |
| Coins       | 0*                 |
| Items       | 1-Up Mushroom      |
+----------------------------------+
*Tolstar will take all of your coins before the battle, at the end he'll give
it all back.
Tolstar is not as easy as Fawful, but if you were training against those
Figher Flies you shouldn't have much of a problem. This may be the first time
that you use your mushrooms though. Tolstar will throw spike balls at you.
Watch which hand he throws it with. The left hand is to Luigi, and the right
is to Mario. After 20 HP is gone, Tolstar will begin laughing. Whenever he
laughs, DO NOT do anything. The spike ball will bounce and go straight over
your head. If you ram into it by jumping, it will do a lot of damage to you.
After 30 HP is gone, Tolstar will comment on you. He'll now throw two balls at
a time. If he laughs, one ball will go over your head. If he doesn't, both
balls will roll and you'll have to jump to avoid it.
Test out your Bros. Attacks. Remember the controls and it should do much more
damage compared to a normal attack. If you run out of BP, don't replenish it.
Just attack with Solo attacks. Keep your HP above 6.
                   <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
After defeating Tolstar and watching the scene, it looks like we'll be on our
own. Use the Spin Jump to get across the ledge and cross the bridge to the
next screen. Right before the cave, there's a Save Album. Save, then go
inside.
In this cave, go up and use the High Jump to get on the ledge. High Jump
several times to get on the highest cliff. Use the Spin Jump to make your way
left to a coin block. Hit it for a mushroom. Jump down and walk left to find
another block containing a mushroom. Exit the cave.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
                            (3.3) Hoohoo Mountain
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Wow...peaceful music. Excellent, that means a town of course. Try to head to
the town and you'll be blocked by some weird looking guards. Watch the scene.
Apparently, their Prince Peasley has been captured by someone speaking of
"mustard and fink-rats". Whodunit?!
Explore a bit. Go in all of the caves and hit all the blocks. There are two
caves in this town. When you're done, head towards the save block. Go on the
path below it and keep walking left. You should see a familiar face. It's
Fawful and a guard! Watch the scene. Looks like we won't be able to get
through. *sigh* Oh well, head back towards the Save Block. Walk left past the
cave. Go in the cave if you haven't already to collect all the goodies.
Anyway, you should be stopped by a broken bridge. There is one house near that
bridge, go inside to find the Hammerhead Bros. Watch the scene. It seems
Blablanadon has been missing for quite some while, and he takes up everyone
to the summit of the mountain where the Hammerhead Bros. get their special
stones to make strong hammers. They just can't seem to jump well enough to go
past the mountain.
Of course, Mario and Luigi are the best of jumpers. That means...we have to go
find the stones of course. When you exit the house, the bridge will be fixed.
Go save and head towards the mountain.
Walk to the right. Defeat the Beanie and jump up the steps. There will be
another Beanie here. If you defeat it, it clears your path to the block which
contains a mushroom. Jump right, then Hi Jump up to the ledge. Jump up a
couple of times. Now use the Spin Jump a couple of time to get across the pits
to the right. Jump up. Use the High Jump to get on top of the ledge to the
left. Walk all the way left and Spin Jump to get to the block containing a
Syrup. Head back to the right near the sign and continue walking right to get
to the next screen.
In this area, you'll find a lot of Beanies. They also have Dry Bones in their
party. Defeat them if you wish. Whether or not you choose to fight, to
continue you must jump up the ledges at the beginning of the screen. At the
top, there should be a sign. To the right, there will be a whirlwind. Use the
Spin Jump and head right into the whirlwind. Once there, hit right. You'll be
on the cliff to the right. Jump up a step and walk right to the next screen.
Walk up the steps to see a little orange dude in fire. He won't attack. From
him, jump up some ledges and walk left to the watering hole. In this area,
there should be a small cliff at the beginning of the screen. Use the High
Jump to get on top and hit the block for some Syrup. Keep going left to see
another flamey dude. Go past it to the left to see a flowing water fountain.
Make sure Mario is first and have him go in front of the spring. Now walk back
to the flamey guy nearest to this fountain. Have Luigi use the High Jump on
Mario while he is facing the flamey guy. The flames should have been put out
and a whirlwind should have appeared.
Jump to the right and High Jump to the highest ledge. Use the Spin Jump to fly
to the whirlwind, then hit left button to get to the ledge. There is a Save
Album here, so save now if you wish. Use the Spin Jump to get to the ledge to
the left. There is a Bros. Block right underneath, so go and hit it a couple
of times. When you're done, jump and to the next screen.
Defeat the few enemies on the ground. At the right, you should see a flamey
guy and another water fountain. Do the same as before, have Mario up front and
let him gulp down some water. Use Luigi's High Jump so Mario sprays water on
the flame. The flame will disappear and a whirlwind will appear.
We're not done yet though. Go to the screen to the right. You MUST defeat the
enemies on this screen or you'll have a very tough time. Once they're done
with, go the previous screen with the water fountain. Have Mario go for a
second helping and go back right. There should be another flamey guy there.
Have Luigi use his High Jump on Mario while facing the flames. Watch another
whirlwind appear.
Go to the previous screen on the left. There are some ledges near the
beginning of the screen, jump on them and use the Spin Jump to get to the
Whirlwind. Press right and get to the ledge. Go right and Spin Jump again into
the other whirlwind. Head right. There will be an exclamation mark block on
this ledge. Hit it. Remember the very first flamey dude we saw? Well, the
fountain near it will be activated.
While on the ledge, you may want to get the block past those spikes. Just use
the Spin Jump to get there. Remember that you can move in more than one
direction when using the Spin Jump. Hit the block for a Mushroom, then jump
off the ledge. Walk down and head to the next screen. Look familiar? This was
the the screen where the fountain started to run again.
Jump down and walk left to the fountain. Have Mario suck up some water, then
jump down the ledges. Have Luigi use the High Jump to put out the flames.
Watch the whirlwind form. Spin Jump to the right, then hit right and you'll
head right into another whirlwind. Hit right again. From these stairs, you can
get two blocks by High Jumping onto the ledge above. Otherwise, head right.
There will be a Save Block here. Make sure you save. By now, you should have
noticed that I only say that when there's a boss. Make sure you also heal up.
Talk to the weird thing in the middle. So now you must pass a test. Have Mario
in the back and switch to the Spin Jump.
The goal is to catch 10 "Hoohoo Spirits" within 30 seconds without falling off
the ledges. The Hoohoo spirits look like little white basketballs. This
challenge is mostly luck whether the spirits appear near you or not. Just try
your best, there's no real strategy to this. Spin Jump your way to victory!
You can try as many times as you want. If you fail, just select yes(the left
option) to try again.
After finishing that, we have another challenge. Defeat the little strange
rock thingy, aka Hoohooros.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
                                -BOSS BATTLE-
+----------------------------------+
| HOOHOOROS                        |
|----------------------------------|
| HP          | 45                 |
| EXP Gained  | 30                 |
| Coins       | 24                 |
| Items       | 1-Up Mushroom      |
+----------------------------------+
At first, the boss will disappear into two pillars. Destroy the pillar that it
IS NOT in. The pillar will be destroyed immediately. Then destroy the pillar
which Hoohooros is hiding in. It will move. The pillar it was hiding under
will be replaces, but it will be out in the open. Now is the time to hit with
a strong Bros. Attack. Destroy the other pillar first though.
Hoohooros has basic attacks. When it's hiding in a pillar, all it'll do is
fire a purple beam. This beam is slow, just jump when it reaches you. When
it is out in the open, Hoohooros will fire a beam that will go from the top
and spread all the way to the bottom that can hit both bros. Just jump with
Mario first when it get to him, then Luigi.
Hoohooros is a very easy boss, just a long battle. Make sure you always
destroy all the pillars first, then attacking Hoohooros. Attacking Hoohooros
while he is hiding won't deal any damage to him.
                   <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
After defeating Hoohooros, he'll let you continue. A pillar will raise on the
very northern part of the screen. Hi Jump onto the pillar. If you want to
collect some items, Hi Jump to the right and use the Spin Jump to get to the
tall pillar. It's tough, but managable. Hit the block for a Syrup. On the
opposite side, there's a Mushroom. When you're done, from the pillar Hi Jump
to the left and again up to access the next screen.
From here, hit the exclamation mark. A fountain will turn on. Go right and
eliminate all the enemies. Heal up though, Rexes start appearing from here on.
Walk right, over the ledge and up the steps. See your person on fire right
here. Geez, they really need a hospital here. Anyway, Spin Jump to the cliff
on the left. Walk up the two steps and Spin Jump again to the left. Hi Jump up
the ledge. This may be a little difficult depending on your IQ. Use the High
Jump, but press the Control Pad diagonally to the upper right so you can get
to the opening between the spikes.
You can Spin Jump from the opening to get the block, but it's hard to reach
and only contains Syrup so you may think otherwise. Either way, Mario must
have a what, 5th helping of water? Drag the waterlogged Mario to the right and
continue holding right. You'll end up near where the flaming thing is. Jump
off the ledge, walk up the steps and up towards it. You should know what to
do, have Luigi High Jump onto Mario while he's facing the hydrant. The
whirlwind should appear. Now make your way back up the path that you took to
reach the mountain. Right before the spikes, turn right and use the Spin Jump
to get to the whirlwind. Hit right. You should land on a platform. Use the
High Jump to get on the ledge. Walk up the stairs and hit the block for a
Syrup. Now move up into the next screen.
Clear out the enemies on the ground. On the very left, there should be a block
containing a 1-Up Mushroom, make sure you get it as they are very useful. Now
back to the beginning of the screen, use the High Jump to get on top of the
ledge. Walk up the steps to the left and Spin Jump into the whirlwind when it
comes by. Fire yourself to the left and you'll land on a small cliff. Use the
Spin Jump again to get to the left. Walk up the steps and move up into the
next screen.
There is another moving whirlwind here. Jump up the ledges to the left and use
the Spin Jump to get into the whirlwind. Don't try getting on the ledge up
top, because you can't. This moving whirlwind is a bit different from the
previous one. This one moves when you are not in it. Spin to the left a
little and the whirlwind should start moving towards you. Spin back into the
whirlwind so you don't fall and lose your Spin Jump. Keep doing this until you
are about in front of the sign. Now spin all the way to the right into the
next whirlwind. Go right to land. Jump up and walk up the stairs. Soin Jump to
the ledge and again to the stairs. Spin Jump into the whirlwind and fire
yourself all the way to the left. There are two blocks here. Hit them for a
Mushroom and a Syrup. Spin Jump to the right a little to land on the ledge.
Walk up and left on the stairs to exit the screen.
It looks like you finally made it to the summit. Before doing ANYTHING, walk
around the PERIMETER of the place to find your Save Block. For youngsters out
there, perimeter means the area at the very edge. Remember that word because
it'll come in useful in math class. Look through the telescope if you wish to
see Beanbean castle and its surrounding areas. Once again, make sure you save.
Now that I said that, you know it means time for a boss battle. :) Walk down
the steps to the middle of the summit. Kick the little ball by walking into it
to wake up a fierce pterodon. Watch the short scene commence. Blablanadon will
get sent far, far away leaving you to deal with Dragohoho.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
                                -BOSS BATTLE-
+----------------------------------+
| DRAGOHOHO                        |
|----------------------------------|
| HP          | 80                 |
| EXP Gained  | 50                 |
| Coins       | 34                 |
| Items       | Super Mushroom     |
+----------------------------------+
This boss is easy. It only has one attack. It will spit 4 eggs, alternating
between Mario and Luigi. It its head is vertical(this way: |), then it'll
attack Mario. If it's horizantal(this way: -), it'll attack Luigi. His attacks
are extremely fast, so be sure to jump as soon as he spits out the rocks at
you. I defeated Dragohoho with all Bros. Attacks, even messing up on some of
them. Just using Bros. Attacks will put the lights out. Sometimes, Dragohoho
will spit out a rock. He'll attack on the rock. Just jump sooner than before.
It makes no difference in his attacks, just makes it a bit harder for you to
avoid. Forget about the rock, just keep attacking Dragohoho. You shouldn't be
having any trouble with him, but don't hesitate to use a Mushroom as his
attacks are powerful.
                   <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
After defeating him, watch the scene. It's Prince Peasey! What a showoff. At
least he gives a gift to Luigi. Anyway, you'll be taken back down the mountain
by Blablanadon who mysteriously appears again. From now on, you can talk to
him from Hoohoo Village to have him take you up to the summit. Isn't that
nice?
Remember during the scene the rock that fell off the waterfall? Walk left from
Blablanadon to the Save Album. Save, then walk left one screen. Walk in the
Hammer Bros.' house. You'll get two hammers! Excellent. Still inside the
house, walk to the right and smash the rock with your brand spanking new
hammer. Hit the block for a Nut, the first one that you can recieve in the
game. Exit the house.
Remember where Fawful was before? It's underneath the screen to the right of
the Hammer Bros' house. Keep walking left. You'll see the statue soon enough.
Smash it with your hammer. Continue. If you wish, you can High Jump onto the
ledge and walk across the bridge for a Nut. When you're done, walk down to
progress.
Looks like we're back in Hoohoo Mountain. Break the numerous rocks here. You
should see a dry fountain. Go to the right side of the fork and break all the
rocks there. You should see a post. Hit that with the hammer to activate the
fountain. Break the rocks on the other side of the fork to see a flaming rock
blocking your path. Have Mario take a sip from the fountain and use the High
Hi Jump to spray some water at the rock. Break it with a hammer and continue.
You should see some rocks blocking the cave. Ignore that for now. Go to the
right and hit all the blocks there. That should be handy. Go back and break
the rock blocking the cave entrance. Save and go inside.
Talk to the sleeping man in here. He'll start the mini-game. Read the mini-
game section for details. This should be easy to pass. Once you do, exit the
cave and hit the Save Album. Hit the blocks containing a Mushroom and Nut and
break the rocks that lead to the bridge. Walk across it. Once you do, the
Hammer Bros. will come running up to you. There will be a tutorial on how to
use your hammers in battle. Listen up good, they'll explain that you deal the
most damage when you press A/B when the hammer starts to shake. To defends,
hold A/B and release when the enemy is nearby. Can't hold it too long though.
When you finish with the tutorial, go down. The other parts of the mountain
won't affect us...yet.
You would have now entered Northwest Beanbean. Take the right path as the left
is a dead end. Keep going down, then jump around to the left path. Take care
of the Sharpea, then down the path to the World Map. I realize that you may
see a cave nearby, but that's not important to us yet.
Just walk to the bottom of the screen and hug the right wall. You should soon
see a gray bridge. Cross it to get to the Beanbean Castle Town.
                      (3.4) Beanbean Castle Area/Sewers
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Item Store:
+------------------------------------+
| Item                | Price        |
|------------------------------------|
| Mushroom            | 24 Coins     |
| Syrup               | 24 Coins     |
| Refreshing Herbs    | 30 Coins     |
+------------------------------------+
Remember that the prices may vary depending on your stache. Chances are, the
items are cheaper than this.
Wow, wonder what happened here? Looks like Cackletta has gotten here. Talk to
everyone kissing the floor and you may want to take a look in the store for
any items that you may need. When you're done, head towards Beanbean Castle in
the north of the town. Save here.
Try to enter and you'll be blocked by the two guards. Watch the short cutscene
and enter. There should be only one path through the castle at them moment.
Follow it and in one of the rooms you'll find a person in a...certain
condition. Watch another scene. How manipulative, she makes do her plumbing.
Hmph.
There will be another Save Album here. Hit it and let's move on. We're going
to have to dispose of these enemies here. They'll be a hassle if we leave them
running about. There are 3 leaks here that hang around the border. Use the
hammer on each of them. The door should open. Head on through.
Here, you'll see only one leak at the northern part of the sewers. Whip out
your hammer and jump up to it. Hammer the leak. Two Spiny parties will drop
right around you. Take care of them if you wish. If you look to the left of
the former leak, you'll see a red wheel. Jump over to it. Use the Spin Jump in
place while right in front of it to turn the wheel, and a bunch more leaks
will pop out. No, you did not break the plumbing. I think. Walk around to each
and every one of them and hammer them back in place.
From the wheel, go all the way down and a little to the right for the first
leak. Jump up from there and go north to find the second one. Hammer that down
and the door will open. Walk through to the next room.
Jump up to the platform in the middle and hit the blocks there for two
Mushrooms and a Syrup. From there, jump to the right. Don't Spin Jump the
wheel yet, instead go to the next room. Spin Jump on this wheel and a leak
will pop up. A 4 will appear in the upper righthand corner. Can you guess what
we have to do now? We'll have to hammer all these leaks in the right order.
Whew, Beanbean Castle really needs to get a good plumber.
After hammering that, two more leaks will pop up. Hammer the one on the bottom
left corner. Next, hit the one at the top, then the last one. If you did this
correctly, a platform will raise. Gather yourself there and High Jump onto the
platform.
Hit the blocks here for some Mushrooms. Spin Jump the wheel here to break some
plumbing and cause leaks to occur in the room previous to the one where you
had to hammer the leaks in order. So exit this room, take a left and you'll
get there. Hammer the leaks and the door will open.
Looks like we're almost done. before hammering the leak in this room, hit the
Save Album to the right. Finish off the leak and two doors will open. Watch
the very important scene. If this is Lady Lima, then who was the other one...?
Aha! It must be Cackletta. It seems she's after the Beanstar. I know what
you're thinking, "What the hell is that??" You'll find out soon enough.
When you regain control of Mario and Luigi, go into the cell that Lady Lima
just came out of. There will be many item blocks here as well as some coins,
both which are very helpful. Go out, then go through the smaller door to the
right. Head up the long, long stairs to the exit and watch the scene. Looks
like we're in for a boss battle.
                                -BOSS BATTLE-
+----------------------------------+ +----------------------------------+
| HP          | 120                | | HP          | 22                 |
| EXP Gained  | 154+               | | EXP Gained  | 0                  |
| Coins       | 16                 | | Coins       | 0                  |
| Items       | Woo Bean           | | Items       | None               |
|             | Mushroom           | +----------------------------------+
|             | 1-Up Super         |
+----------------------------------+
Queen Bean is an annoying Boss. There are three parts. Two arms, and the body.
Once you defeat the body, both arms will disappear too. You can hammer the
body, but it will do very little damage, perhaps 1 or 2. You can deal more
damage by jumping, but the crown protects her head.
First, destroy her two arms. Afterwards, the crown will fall off leaving her
open for your strongest Bros. Attacks. Queen Bean has many attacks. The one
she'll use most is when she has both arms. She'll slam them down and create a
powerful shockwave. It's slow though and easy to avoid. Jump when it nears
Mario and Luigi and it starts to spread. She'll also throw a punch, more if
she has both arms. Hammer when she gets right in front of you. When Queen Bean
has one arm, she can create a small shockwave. Treat this one just like the
big shockwave, jump when it starts to spread. She can also still punch you.
When Queen Bean has no arms left, she'll spit beans. Watch before she spits.
One of her dead arms will twitch. The left arm(towards you) shakes when she's
attacking Luigi, and viceversa. Jump when the beans come very close to you.
DO NOT jump on them. They will bounce back and turn into Beanies, which are
kind of a nuisance. Although the Beanies can do very little damage to you now,
they are annoying and drag out the battle. If you have plenty of HP, just take
a hit.
After a few turns, Queen Bean's arms will regenerate. Her crown will also
reappear, so take out the arms again. After Queen Bean is defeated, you still
have to take out all the Beanies to win the battle.
                   <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
After you win the boss battle, we'll need to revive Queen Bean. She ingested
a Belly Belch thingamajig and there's no way to spit it out, except to drink
some special liquid at Chateau de Chucklehuck. Looks like that's out next
destination before catching up to Cackletta.
Before leaving, let's hit some blocks. From where you are, walk two screens
down. There will be a Bros. Block. Exit the castle. As you leave, a guy will
follow you and give Mario a Bean Badge. Follow the tutorial on how to equip
badges. Press Select, and read. Poor Luigi doesn't get a badge though, he'll
have to buy them himself at the store. And speaking of the store, they have a
new stock. Go to the house with pants on it. Both people in there will sell
different things. Talk to the one on the left.
Equipment Store:
+----------------------------------------------+
| Item                | Price        | For Who |
|------------------------------------|---------|
| Bean Pants          | 100 Coins    |    M    |
| Bean Trousers       | 130 Coins    |   M/L   |
| Blue Jeans          | 220 Coins    |    L    |
| Castle Badge        | 75 Coins     |   M/L   |
| Pea Badge           | 80 Coins     |   M/L   |
+----------------------------------------------+
The store has a lot of goodies now. I recommend buying Blue Jeans for Luigi
and Bean Trousers for Mario. If you still have some extra money, buy a Pea
Badge for Luigi too. Equip yourself and you should be all set. You should
still have plenty of Mushrooms from the sewers. (Eeew)
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
                           (3.5) Chucklehuck Woods
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Time to leave. Go out through the Western exit. Walk down the bridge towards
the bottom. Dwaddle along and you'll find some new enemies. While you're here,
there is one path along the bottom. Take it to find a Green Pipe. Go inside
and head back out. From the previous screen as soon as you exit the path
leading to the Green Pipe, walk to the left. Jump up a couple of times to
reach the top of a ledge. There will be a bridge there. Walk across it to the
next screen. Once you reach the small piece of solid land, have Mario use the
Spin Jump to get to the ledge at the top. You may or may not be able to see
it. Talk to the people there. Mario will show them the brooch and the doors
will sink into the ground. Wow, wonder how that's done?
Head through the...well, where the doors were standing and make your way up
the winding path to find a door. Invade their privacy of course, and walk
straight on in. Hit the Save Album and go through the door at the end of the
hallway. You'll find yourself in a barrel maze. I hate this part. It's tough
explaining it. Er...I'll try though.
Press up and the entrance until you can't anymore. Then hit right until you
hit a wall. Press up from there until hitting a wall, then left until you are
out in the open. Well, a small hole anyway. Go down and left, down again, and
left each time you hit a wall. They are all short paths so it looks like a
zigzaggy line. From there, walk all the way up, right, then up again to find
yourself in another small hole. There is a path near the top that goes right.
Take that, then up and left each time you hit a wall. You should be going all
the way towards the left wall now. Go down when you hit yet another wall, then
left and down into another gap in the ceiling. Continue southward, then take
a right, then down, a small left, and down again. When going down, DO NOT wait
until you hit the wall. Go right out into the gap.
When you come out...wait! That isn't Mario or Luigi! It's a...crazy thang.
Watch it escape and follow it up the steps with your High Jumps. Once at the
top, make sure you don't fall and hug the left wall. There should be a board
there that leads to the next screen. Watch the scene. Popple's the name is it?
Popple starts fuming about how you caught him right in the middle of his act.
But...we see him clearly right now, do we not? Er..boss battle!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
                                -BOSS BATTLE-
+----------------------------------+ +----------------------------------+
| POPPLE                           | | ROOKIE                           |
|----------------------------------| |----------------------------------|
| HP          | 100                | | HP          | 120                |
| EXP Gained  | 50                 | | EXP Gained  | 110                |
| Coins       | 30                 | | Coins       | 34                 |
| Items       | Green Pepper       | | Items       | 1-Up Mushroom      |
+----------------------------------+ +----------------------------------+
This battle is kind of unique. Once you defeat Rookie, Popple will run away
in the next hit. This makes you loose valuable experience, coins, and items
although making the fight shorter. I recommend taking out Popple first for
some bonuses. Popple has two variations of the same attack. He'll stop at the
middle, then either ram you or steal a mushroom. If Popple smiles, he's
attacking Luigi. If it's normal, he's attacking Mario. In either case, jump as
he comes to avoid damage. If Popple manages to steal a Mushroom, he'll use it
to heal. Make sure you take him out fast. He should be gone within 3 or 4
Bros. Attacks.
Whenever you hit Popple, Rookie will get angry and throw two hammers at you.
The first one aims for Mario, the second to Luigi. This can be tricky if you
can't do things like rub your tummy and pat your head, but if you can, then
that's great. Release A/B when the hammer's shadow is straight over your head.
If you don't attack Popple for a while, Rookie will still attack by throwing
one hammer at a brother. Watch for its shadow.
After Popple is defeated, Rookie will start breathing Fireballs just like his
old self. Hop over them when they come near. Just use Bros. Attack and he
should be finished in only a few blows.
                   <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Once they're taken care of, walk to the room on the left. Hit the Save Album.
Now go left and push the barrel blocking a path. You'll rescue two weird, old
dudes. They'll thank you, then want to be excused for a moment and wander up
top. Before following them, go into the small room that they were in and Hi
Jump onto the crates. Hit the Bros. Block, then go up into the next screen.
The two who rescued you will want to teach you two new hammer techniques. Say
yes. Watch the tutorial. Even if you are playing the Japanese version, you
should get what they are saying.
Now you have to get the two treasures in the room to the right as your reward.
Go to the room, and let's steal. Switch so that Mario is in front. Have Luigi
smack Mario and turn into mini-Mario! Have him go through the hole in the
first door and jump onto the table. BTW, if you haven't noticed, Mario is now
separated from Luigi.
Head back out through the hole. Now, onto the room to the right. As you can
see, there is no hole here. Switch so that Luigi is in front and have Mario
use the hammer on him to execute the Mole. Let him go under the doors and
separate. Jump out of the ground and go to the upper righthand corner. Hit the
switch to open the door and reunite with Mario. High Jump onto the ledge to
get the other glass.
When you're done, go back to the previous room where the mustached men are
waiting. They'll be amazed, then dismiss you. Time to head into the woods. Go
down two screens down the metal platform. When you exit, go to the left.
First, hug the top wall and jump up a couple of steps to find a rock. Break it
with your hammer and enter the screen to find a Green Pipe. Head in and out to
add that to our collection of pipes. Head back and down a step or two. Turn to
the right and use the High Jump. Move as close to the bottom edge of the land
without falling off and you can Spin Jump to the isolated land with and item
block. Afterwards, jump off and go to the screen to the left. Check out the
map too.
Here, you'll find a closed gate. Use Mole to have Luigi go underneath the
gate. There will be a switch nearby. Hit it and the gate will fall. Reunite,
then High Jump onto the high ledge. Go to the next screen. You'll see that
there is a locked gate with a metal floor, so no Mole for you. High Jump onto
the platform with the Save Album on it. Hit it and go to the left screen.
You'll find a bunch of blocks and a giant Koopa. You can't knock him down yet,
so wait until the future.
Go back to the previous room. Hammer the two rocks near the gate to open up
two mouse holes! Go into Mini-Mario mode and go in the left one. There will be
a switch there. Hit it with your hammer to open up the gate, then head back
out. Now go into the hole to the right. Hit the blocks there, then go out and
enlarge Mario again. Go to the next screen up above by High Jumping onto the
ledge.
Here, use Mole. Have Luigi come up inside the barrel. While with the barrel
on, walk onto the Beanbean switch. The weird, mask thingy will breathe fire,
but it will bounce back and hit it. This raises the land. Break out of the
barrel and High Jump a couple of times onto the land. Next screen.
Walk to the side with the Shy Guy. Defeat it and walk up the few steps. Break
the rock with your hammer and go into the room. There are many blocks here,
obtain your free stuff and return to the previous screen. Go to the path on
the left this time. There will be a rock there. If you break it, you have
access to...a dead end. Don't worry about that for now. Take the western path.
Jump up the step like ledges. Use the Spin Jump and go diagonally to the other
ledge. Use Mole on the barrel. Jump off the ledge and walk to the left where
there is a switch. Press L to scroll though your options. You'll find a new
one with a barrel(accompanied by a rather suspicious noise...). Press B to
get on top of the barrel, then face up and press B again to hit the switch.
The land will raise. Jump off the barrel and use the High Jump twice to get to
the next screen.
You'll find a Save Block right in front of you. Hit it. Walk straight up and
you'll find a strange tree that can divide itself like Spongebob Squarepants.
It'll want you to find three different types of berries. Up for the task? No?
Well you have no choice, too bad.
Take the right exit from this screen. Now take the top exit. Smash all the
rocks here. See all the X's? Use Mole and come up on each and every one of
them to get beans. Why do we want to do this? They become important for
raising stats a little later on in the game. Go back to the previous screen.
Near the middle of the screen, you should notice an X. Use Mole on that too.
Then take the southeast exit.
Continue and you will be blocked by an obstacle. Look to the left, there's a
mousehole for Mario. Turn into Mini-Mario by using Luigi's Hammer. Walk into
the hole and hit the switch. Press Start to switch to Luigi. Have Luigi go
through the door that just opened and have him hit the switch there. The door
blocking Mario will open. Now have Mario go through the door and hit another
switch. The door blocking Luigi will now open. Getting the hang of this?
Have Mario go back and reunite with Luigi. Use Mole to get under this door.
Resurface and hit the switch. The place where Mario was before's door will
open. You now have a time limit. Switch to jump and hurry up to the bottom
right corner of the section to see a spring. Jump on it to get sprawling back
to the other side. Reunite with Mario and go to the beginning of the screen
where the mousehole was. Make Mario small again and walk through the hole.
Walk straight until you are past the door. You're safe now. Hit the switch to
open up the door again, this time without a time limit. Pick up the White
Chuckola Fruit before you go back to Luigi. We're done here. Go back to the
exit at the bottom and High Jump onto the platform. Go back. Head back left
one more screen to where the tree was.
This time, go to the left exit. Go towards the bottom and to the next screen
via the bottom left exit. You will meet the granddaughter of the giant tree,
Chuckleroot. Remember what I told you before about using Mole on the spots?
That's what you have to do here. Mole on all the X's here and talk to the
granddaughter. She will open the door. Go right through.
Head towards the bottom to see the arse of a worm. Heal up, then go to the
worm. You'll be forced to press A and B to step on it. When it's through the
hole, have Mini-Mario go through. Mario will run straight back out. The big,
angry worm will stare right at Luigi. That's what you get for being a bully.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
                                -BOSS BATTLE-
+----------------------------------+
| WIGGLER                          |
|----------------------------------|
| HP          | 34                 |
| EXP Gained  | 120                |
| Coins       | None               |
| Items       | Super Mushroom     |
+----------------------------------+
Even though Wiggler only has 34 HP, this is no walk in the park. Just kidding.
See, there are 5 parts to it including the head. Each part is red. Hit the
BODY parts which are red and it will turn yellow. After the four body parts
are yellow, the head will start to droop and you can damage it. Use a strong
Bros. Attack to finish it in one hit. Make sure you don't hit its head or all
the body parts will turn red again. Hitting a yellow part of its body will
also turn it red.
Wiggler has two attacks. It will either charge at you or create a shockwave.
When it charges, it will pause at the middle of the screen for half a second,
then move to a brother. The Wiggler has a LONG body, jump as soon as it starts
to approach. When you hit the Wiggler, one of its parts will turn yellow/red.
If you already have many parts turned yellow, you should just take the hit.
It does mediocre damage. Wiggler's second attack is the the shockwave. It'll
rear up on its hind legs and come slamming down. You have to look carefully at
the ground to see this one. It's very light in color and quick. Jump to avoid
it.
Wiggler should be incredibly easy. Just use a Bros. Attack. If it's perfectly
done, it should do around 40-50 damage OHKOing it.
                   <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
After that's done, have Mini-Mario go in the hole again. Head right up and get
the gruit on the plant. High Jump onto the platform at the top right corner
and go back. Go up and back one more screen. Here, take a quick U turn and go
through the path on the right.
Go across the path to the right. There is a block containg a Syrup at a very
high ledge. If you want it, Hi Jump to the ledge to the bottom right of it.
Jump again, then Spin Jump diagonally to it. Continue upwards to the Purple
Chuckola Cave.
Hit the three blocks in front of you. Now take a right. In this new screen,
first walk all the way to the right. Hit the block for a Mushroom. Backtrack a
bit towards the top. There are some steps. High Jump to the right for a coin
block, then climb the steps to the left. Get on the Bike Pads and bike to the
right. Go to the next screen.
Jump down and hit the two blocks down there. High Jump back up via the
platform to the left and Spin Jump across the pit. Grab the Purple Chuckola
Fruit. Now we have to head all the way back. Use the Spin Jump to get back
across the pit, then fall down in the next screen. Go all the way left, then
down. You'll be in the forest again. Walk to the left, then up. Jump up the
steps and go right. You'll be back at the tree.
If you fell down the pit in the Purple Chuckola Cave, that's no problem. Just
read the map nearby. The path is pretty linear to get there.
Once back at the tree, save your game. Talk to the tree and it should let you
pass. You'll see Rookie and Popple come by thinking they're smartasses and run
past you. Screw them, just go past the tree to the next screen. Hit all of the
blocks in this area. Get to the Save Album. Save, then head up the steps to
the tree thingy. Go inside.
Watch the scene. Looks like Popple and Rookie met a bad end here. You'll see
the legendary Chuckola Reserve. Bubbles will also be there. Bubbles, you know,
all those poems scattered throughout the forest? Or do you not read those?
Either way, the soda seems to have a hidden fighting spirit.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
                                -BOSS BATTLE-
+----------------------------------+ +----------------------------------+
| CHUCKOLATOR                      | | SHIELD                           |
|----------------------------------| |----------------------------------|
| HP          | 300                | | HP          | 30                 |
| EXP Gained  | 260                | | EXP Gained  | 0                  |
| Coins       | None               | | Coins       | 0                  |
| Items       | 1-Up Mushroom      | | Items       | None               |
+----------------------------------+ +----------------------------------+
Chuckolator is much harder than the pushover, Wiggler. It has many different
attacks. The first one is that it slashed the ground. Mini soda thingies will
appear and attack the brother that was in front of it. Just hold A/B and
release right away after the mini appears. If you are hit by this, you MAY be
stunned until your next turn. Chuckolator can also change one of its arms into
a machine gun. When it has its shield, it will only use this machine gun
attack. If the gun is pointed up, it'll attack Mario. If it's pointed down,
it'll attack Luigi. This attack is difficult to avoid. Wait two seconds, then
jump. The attack should bounce off the floor.
Chuckolator has a shield to protect him. This shield has about 30 HP. This
dwindles your attack damage by just a few points, not much of a nuisance. It
should shatter after only one or two turns. Jump attacks deal very little
damage. Unlike with Queen Bean, Chuckolator is strong against jump and
vulnerable to hammers. This includes Bros. Attacks. When using them, always
choose the second Bros. Attack.
Chuckolator's attacks will become quicker after about 100 HP has been shaven
off. After 2/3s of its HP is gone, it will shrink. Bubbles will come in and
try to heal Chuckolator with a bad joke, but it only heals about 15 HP. That's
less than a normal attack, so it shouldn't matter to you. This shrunken
Chuckolator can only attack by charging at you. Get your hammers ready and
strike when it's close to you, but not in front of your face. This attack may
poison you. Use a Refreshing Herb if you get poisoned. You should have some of
those from just before with the blocks outside this place.
When you've finished off Chuckolator, you'll be dropped into the ground below.
How cruel. Mario will have fell into the soda below, and you'll now be
controlling Luigi. All by himself. First time in a while, eh? Enjoy this
moment while it lasts.
Walk to the right across the bridge. There will be a Save Akbum nearby. Hit
it, then continue up to the next screen. There will be come blocks, as well as
rocks separating you and a Shy Guy. You can hit the blocks and break the
rocks, or hit the blocks and go around the pillar that is blocking you. Cross
the bridge, then go down and break another rock. Go through to the next
screen. Walk down and break another rock. Head left and take the bottom fork
for a Mushroom containing block. Take the top path and continue to the next
screen. Hit the two blocks at the bottom, then go left to see a barrel. Can
this be Mario? Touch the barrel and watch the scene.
Luigi will roll the barrel all the way to Beanbean Kingdom. Gosh, I could
never do that. Watch the touching scene commence. The history of the Bean Star
will un unrevealed here. Prince Peasley will be waiting for you outside when
you regain control, so walk out to the bottom. Watch the scene. Cackletta
seems to be at Woohoo Hooniversity. That's our next location.
When you get out of the castle, you'll be in the Beanbean Castle Area. Duh. It
seems the place is all fixed up now. Explore the town before going anywhere.
Many of the houses contain blocks with some good items such as Hoo Beans. Also
make sure you visit the Pipe House. When you first exit the castle, make a
left to see it. Walk into the Green Pipe to add that to your collection. The
Item and Clothing shops also have their own buildings now. Here's what they
have:
Remember that you may get discounts depending on your Stache. Buy whatever you
want. Nothing is really that special though.
You may also find the information shop. It's the house with a bunch of speech
bubbles inside. This is rather pointless, because you're reading my guide.
Another place is the Starbeans Cafe. This sells coffee that automatically
raises your stats! All you have to do is get the right amount of beans. If you
have enough beans for any of the coffee, then go ahead and get them. You'll
get a new item each time you get new coffee. One more note in town is a big
man, er, bean on the eastern screen. He'll be looking for 5 Beanlets. If you
wish to do this sidequest now, you can. Read the sidequests section if you
need any help with that.
When you're all done with Beanbean Town, exit via the right. In the first
screen, head towards the bottom. Cross the bridge. In this screen, you'll find
some X marking on the floor which you can dig up with Mole. Continue towards
the bottom to see a square surrounded by flowers. Use Mole on the square space
to the left to find a Bean Fruit. This will be useful in the future, so keep
it. You should see some skull thingies there. They'll allow you to pass, so go
on ahead!
In this screen, hug the right wall and cross the bridge. Take the path to the
right to arrive on the beach. You should see a statue there. To the north of
the statue are some blocks. Hit them, then head back south and to the right.
Cross the bridge and you'll be at Woohoo Hooniversity. Hit the Save Album and
enter.
                          (3.7) Woohoo Hooniversity
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
As soon as you go inside, you'll see a scene with a bunch of people running
out of the building. Shall I assume that Cackletta has made her appearance?
If you keep walking up the straight hallway, you'll see an injured person
there. Talk to him and he will exclaim that Cackletta has turned all of the
Hooniverity's professors into monsters! omgwtfbbq! He'll then turn into a
monster and attack you. Not a boss, so don't worry. You should be able to win
easily, and if you can't, then you are in dire need of leveling up.
After he's defeated, walk up into the next room. You'll see a fence, a closed
gate, and a bunch of mirrors. Hmm. High Jump onto the platform at the right to
get hit some blocks, then go up one screen. Jump to the left and right sides
of the room and hit the exclamation blocks. The electric wire will disappear
and the thing in the middle will turn around so that the O faces front. Go
back to the previous room and take a left.
This room has a lot of enemies. Ignore all of them if you want, go to the
bottom right corner for a Save Album. Hit it and continue to the left. This
room has a bunch of enemies.
If you want to take a quick detour, turn to the left to the next screen. Here,
you'll see the history of all the blocks in the Super Mario Bros. series.
Rather interesting actually.
Back at the hallway of enemies, walk up. Hug the right wall and go into the
room. There will be many blocks there. Get your treasure of coins and move
back to the previous room. Go all the way up to the next room. Turn right into
the so-called Sun Room next. Near the top is the next room. Don't go in yet
though, to the left of it there's a sign. This will be your release code. Go
up into the next turn and you will see switches. Take out your hammer and
start smacking the front of the statues to match the colors of the release
code shown before. In case you can't remember it, here's what you do:
R R     B B
 R B   R R
R B     R R
Hit the statues so they match that, and a light will appear. It will open the
door two rooms ago. So let's head back there.
Go back down one screen, then left one. You'll see the door at the top. High
Jump up there and go through. This room has three viruses if you feel like
fighting. Go to the left as this room is not interesting and you'll find your
first rally block and a Save Album. Hit the Album of course, and move on
towards the bottom to the next room.
You're going to see a lot of weird things in here. I might be overwhelming at
first, but it's actually just a lot of mini-rooms inside one big one. From the
entrance, walk down and to the left to the second mini-room. Get Mini-Mario
out and jump into the small hole. Hit the switch to open up the room to the
left. Mario's door closes though. Press Start and have Luigi go in there. Use
your hammer to hit that switch. That makes a block appear in Mario's room. Hit
it. You'll now begin a mini-game.
In this, you'll have to hit 30 blocks that appear in both Mario and Luigi's
within 25 seconds to proceed. If you don't succeed, you'll be forced to do
this again. This is simple, try to keep your eye on both screens, press both
A and B at the same time when necessary. For quick blocks, you can jump a bit
earlier. The block will hit the head of the person and slow down, allowing you
some time to jump up quickly and hit it again.
After you finish this, have Mini-Mario go down and jump through the next small
hole. Hit the block for a Mushroom, then jump to the left up the steps. You'll
end up on the border of the rooms. Walk all the way around the border and jump
across the switch. Land inside the next room and there will be a switch. Hit
it to open a gate. Have Mario jump out and go into that room which just
opened.
Now switch over to Luigi. Have him go into that room too and reunite. Make
Mario but again and have Luigi use Mole. Come up under the barrel. Walk up and
a little to the left to find a high switch. Remember Chucklehuck Woods? We did
the exact same thing. Press L to scroll through the options to find the barrel
so Mario can jump right on top. Hit the switch and you'll see a scene in which
the light from before feels like going down. It reflects through many rooms
and opens a door. I wonder how it did that?
Back to Mario and Luigi, have Mario jump off and Luigi break the barrel. We're
going to go all the way back to that door. If you don't remember how to get
there, then I'll tell you. If you do, skip this paragraph. Go back to the
previous room. High Jump over the ledge and Save, then exit to the right. From
there, go down two rooms. All you have to do is follow the light now. Go down
the long hallway to the next screen. You should see a Blue Virus and a mirror
now. Take a right at the bottom where the light is and you should be there.
The door is towards the bottom where the Save Album is.
Hit the Save Album, then go down towards the door. There's a hole bunch of
blocks here. Hit them all, then go left. This room rather looks suspicious. If
you stand on the little symbol on the floor there, you'll get shocked. Sound
familiar? There's no barrel here, so jump to the ledge on the left and
continue on to the next screen.
Again, right now this is also pointless. Ignore this room for now and go up.
There's a Save Album in this room. Walk all the way left to the next screen.
Up here, you'll see a switch. Hit it of course, and there's your barrel. It's
not time to go all the way back yet though. Just go to the screen to the right
up the slope, then down. High Jump up the ledge to your left. There is an
Exclamation Block there, but we can't get it right now. Just Spin Jump over
the gap. Try not to fall. If you do, travel all the way back down the path on
the left, up a screen, then right and all the way back around.
From the ledge after the Exclamation Block, Spin Jump again to the left. You
should see a switch. Hammer it. A Mini-Mario space will open. Continue to Spin
Jump to your left. Fall down on your left to see the mousehole. Have Mini-
Mario go in and separate from Luigi.
OK, here is what you do. This is a maze, so follow my directions carefully.
Make a right as soon as you can. From there, turn up quickly and go along that
path.
When you're back, use Mole on go underneath the barrel. This is a little
different than from Chucklehuck though. Your next fork will lead the same way,
so continue in any path. In the next fork, you should be near a socket. The
little three hole thiny, like this: |.| Take the path on your left. Go all the
way down, then you'll be at your next fork. Take a right now. You'll finally
be at the switch. Use your hammer to hit it and all the sockets will lower.
Another barrel will also appear in the room with the floor switch.
Head back. This shouldn't be hard at all with all the switches done, but if
you still need help, go all the way left from the switch. Now go down and take
the nearest left path. Go to the very bottom and the exit will be on your
right.
When you exit, enlarge Mario again and High Jump to the right. Spin Jump all
the way back to the room with the floor switch. 'K, now all we have to do is
have Luigi use Mole. Have him resurface under the barrel to the left, have
then step on the floor switch. The attack should bounce from barrel to barrel
and finally hitting the control panel. This causes a crane to malfunction and
pick up Luigi.
So now Mario is all alone. Have him jump to the left the way we came before.
Go up, hit the Save Album, then slide down to the next screen. The crane that
was in the way before is gone now, so cross the metal bridge. Jump up the
steps and jump over the pits. Each landing has a block that you can hit. You
don't have to jump through all of these, so feel free to just walk on below.
At the end of the hall is an exit going down. Go through. Here, you'll see a
cutscene where Luigi is placed at the end of the long paths at the very top.
Barrels will be rolling down the path. Donkey Kong anyone?
Jump over all the barrels. Land on one, and you start from the beginning. This
is annoying, but not really that hard. Always hold left or right and A when
jumping. This will increase the distance and time in the air, making this much
easier.
When you get to the top, Luigi will be gone, but there will be a switch there.
Mario will have a confused look on his face. Let's help him out. Hammer the
switch and the barrels will stop rolling plus a column will lower allowing you
access to it. Luigi will then appear again still in a barrel, drop, then roll
all the way down past the mousehole, through rolling hills, and finally onto
that exclamation block that you couldn't hit before. This makes light bounce
some extra times into the room near the very entrance. The door will open.
Mario will reunite with Luigi automatically and you will gain control in the
room with the floor switch. If you can't get there by yourself, I'll still
guide you. High Jump onto the platform to the right, then High Jump again near
the top of the next screen. Enter the next screen; this one should have a Save
Album very close by. You can just follow the light now. Go up hugging the
right wall, then take the nearest right into the next screen. You'll be here
in the starry area.
Walk to the right in the starry room and down past the door that just opened.
You're going to see a water spout nearby. Have Mario drink up, then down to
the next room.
Look to the left and you'll see an electric mouse. Have Luigi use the hammer
on Mario. Mario will spit out a little bit of water. Make sure Mario hits the
mouse across the room. The mouse will hit the pipe back there and an
exclamation block will move down towards the bottom. Let Mario spit out any
excess water, then hit the block. It'll send the beam reflecting past even
more mirrors. Time to go back.
Walk up three screens to get to our destination. If the door didn't open, then
hit the exclamation point in the left part of the room so that the thing in
the middle reads "O". Watch the scene. Don't worry, we're not going to fight
yet. It seems Cackletta is revving up for one though. Go through the doors to
see some blocks. High Jump up those things in the top of the room, then again
to reach the ledge. Make sure you hit the Save Block and heal up. That's
right, we're going for another boss fight. Watch the scene, then prepare for
your toughest boss yet. The final??!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
                                -BOSS BATTLE-
+----------------------------------+
| CACKLETTA                        |
|----------------------------------|
| HP          | 200                |
| EXP Gained  | 900                |
| Coins       | 300                |
| Items       | 1-Up Super         |
+----------------------------------+
Cackletta is difficult even if you have a very high attack. She'll start off
the battle with a lightning storm. Watch the holes in the ground. Have the
brother jump over the holes as they come near. If one of them falls in, they
won't recieve damage, but will gain the weight status. This makes it harder
to avoid attacks when jumping and can become a major nuisance to this battle.
After Cackletta is done with the lightning, she'll split into three. Attack
the right one. There's no way to tell which is the real Cackletta. Some say
that it's the length of her shadow, but I never had any luck with that...If
you attack the wrong Cackletta, it'll turn into a flock of bats. The bats will
walk on the floor towards the brothers. Jump as they come near. Remember if
you have weight or not, if you do you must jump earlier. The bats do minor
damage but can poison you.
Cackletta has a third attack, which is the actual lightning. When she spreads
her wings, lightning will strike after half a second. Watch her wings. If the
wing across Mario(her right) raises, she'll attack Mario then Luigi right
after the first lightning strikes. Right after you press A, press B and vice
versa. If both wings are spread, have both brothers jump at the same time.
This is all that Cackletta can do to you. She does do use major damage, just
trying to draw out the battle by making it harder for you to avoid attacks and
by poisoning you. Use any Refreshing Herbs that you have, don't hesitate on
the Nuts and Mushrooms as well. Just keep using Bros. Attacks when the real
Cackletta appears and don't let up!
                   <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
After Cackletta is defeated, in comes Fawful. He'll suck up Cackletta to
preserve her, and is about to attack you. Prince Peasley then arrives! Whoopee
for great timing! He then tells you that it's not surprising that Peach's
voice drove the Beanstar mad. Hmmm, what can he be hiding?
Anyway, after Cackletta you'll be fully healed. High Jump to the ledge on the
left and go through the door. Hit the Save Album then High Jump on the ledge.
Hit the block for a Nut and continue down the stair to the next screen. Keep
hopping down the stairs past the Bros. Block, past the Random Block, and
finally onto the snow covered ground. Dig up the X next to the block, then
head left.
It sucks that there are still enemies here, but what can you do? Walk up and
proceed through the room. Ignore the water spout in this room. Continue
walking up and High Jumping over the ledge. Proceed right. In the screen, hop
down the ledges and continue right into the next screen. There will be a Save
Album in this area so feel free to hit it. There will also be some closed
doors here. Ignore them for now and continue going right.
Go up in this screen to see some pipes and mice. Remember earlier in the
Hooniversity we had to use the hammer on a water-filled Mario to push the mice
in the pipes? We have to do that here, except multiple times. You have four
chances to get the mice in without missing. I personally did it all without
missing once. For the first mouse, it will stop right in front of the pipe.
That should be easy. For the second one, hit Mario a little earlier than when
it reaches the pipe so the water should slowly move through the air and hit
the mouse when it's right in front of the pipe. For the third mouse, just hit
it even earlier than before since it likes to bounce back and forth. Don't do
it too early though. If you run out of water, feel free to get more.
Once you finish that small task, the doors in the previous screen will open.
Make sure you save! Go back through the left and go in the doors. Watch the
scene. Is that Popple and Rookie? You remember them ALSO from Chucklehuck,
right? Looks like they're in for another fight. Safely move the Beanstar out
of the way and begin!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
                                -BOSS BATTLE-
+----------------------------------+ +----------------------------------+
| POPPLE                           | | ROOKIE                           |
|----------------------------------| |----------------------------------|
| HP          | 150                | | HP          | 250                |
| EXP Gained  | 120                | | EXP Gained  | 180                |
| Coins       | 33                 | | Coins       | 33                 |
| Items       | Red Pepper         | | Items       | 1-Up Mushroom      |
+----------------------------------+ +----------------------------------+
Popple and Rookie still aren't that great. They have mostly the same attacks
as before. Popple will run up. When he grins, he'll attack Luigi. If not, then
he'll attack Mario. Have them jump/hammer as he gets nearby, Popple walks
rather slowly and is easy to counter. If Popple hits, he might steal a
Mushroom. If you have any Super Mushrooms, then those are his first priority.
After you attack Popple, Rookie will throw two hammers. Have your hammers
ready, have Mario raise his hammer and slam down as the shadow comes near him,
then have Luigi get his up and slam down immediately. Rookie can use his
fireballs from the start of the match. They are not that fast, so jump when it
nears.
After several turns, Popple and Rookie will try out their own "Bros. Attack."
Rookie will grab Popple and swing him around and up, then slam him down. This
will create two shockwaves. Jump over them. They also have a second attack.
Bowser will light Popple on fire, then throw him to the bros. Hammer him down
as he comes nearby. When Rookie's low on HP, he'll start spitting out combos
of fireballs and hammers.
These guys aren't too difficult, all of their attacks are slow moving and easy
to dodge. Stick to how you beat them before. Attack Popple first. This way he
won't rob you of your valuable mushrooms. After he's gone, get Rookie. If you
can defeat Popple quick enough so that they can't trigger their Bros. Attack,
that will be a major advantage to you.
                   <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
After you defeat them, watch the scene. Bowser seems to remember who he is,
but it's a little late now, don't you think? Anyway, the Beanstar will shatter
into four different pieces and scatter across the land.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
                               (3.8) Oho Oasis
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
When you regain control of Mario and Luigi, you will be at the Oho Oasis. Hit
the Save Album nearby. Now go up past the radio and up two screens. You should
see a house. Go inside. Walk up the steps, then jump to the left. You can talk
to all the Ohos here, they are friendly and not monsters. Well, maybe. Walk in
the door to the left and continue. In this screen, you'll see a metal floor
with a gate. Guess there's no mole here. Walk to the screen to the right.
Hammer Luigi into the ground and use Mole to get under the door. Resurface,
then go straight. Hammer the block in the way and watch the scene. Ignore the
dude's warning and go straight. Examine the orb.
Luigi will learn Thunderhand! Watch the tutorial. This is simple, press R to
switch to Thunderhand. Hold A until the lightning is strong, then release.
Simple. When that's done, walk to the exit on the left. There will be an orb
there. Use Thunderhand on it to open up the door. Walk to the screen on the
right to meet up with Mario.
Leave the builing. From outside, go down one screen, left towards the Save
Block to the next screen, then up past the two statues. There, you'll see
another building and red Oho Jee. You should know what's coming. Mario has to
get a counterpart too, see?
Inside the building, jump off to the right. Go through the door then left
along the hallway. In this screen, you'll see a mousehole. Transform Mario
into Mini-Mario and go through the hole. Go up to the next screen. Walk up the
steps and break the rock. You'll get a similar scene like with Luigi. Touch
the orb and you will learn Firebrand. It is just like the Thunderhand, but
with fire! Cool.
Since you have become large again, you can't go back through the mousehole.
Take the exit to the right, then light the hole with the fire symbol above it.
The door will open. Now go to the left to meet up with Luigi. Exit the
building.
So now where do you go? From the exit of the building, go to the screen to the
bottom. Then take a right and go to that screen. Keep going right and jump
onto the green ledge. You should see two switches, a Thunder Orb and a Fire
Hole. Light them both with the hand techniques that you just learned and it
will open a bridge to the yellow pipe. Go inside and you'll end up in in a sea
bed.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
                               (3.9) Oho Ocean
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Outside the yellow pipe will be the Oho Oasis, a quick mini-dungeon. To swim,
just press A/B while you have the jump option on.
Hit the Save Album, the continue left. Swimp to the top right corner. You'll
see a hole. Light it with Firebrand to open up the sea coral. Go through the
coral and watch out for enemies. They drop on your head, so swim quickly. Turn
to your left to the next screen.
Start pressing A and B together to swim. Keep going directly southwest. Watch
out for the falling Goomdivers. You should eventually reach a piece of land
with a little rainbow border thingy on it. Walk down to the next screen. If
you fell on the sharp coral, you won't lose HP but will start back near the
beginning. Take the same path to the next screen.
This screen has a simple puzzle. Just light the orb on the platform with
Luigi's Thunderhand. That will open the door, allowing you to go to the next
screen(already).
From the entrance, swim to the northwest. Float along the high walls here to
eventually find an open spot that's low and you can land. Walk up to the next
screen.
Swim to the top to see a switch. Hit it and you'll see flames lit up in a
certain order to the left. I think that it's different in every game, so light
them up in the correct order with Mario's Firebrand. When you've finished it
correctly, the coral towards the bottom will open up revealing the path to the
next screen.
There's nothing you can do here. There are a bunch of Bloopers and Goomdivers
if you're looking for a fight, but if not, head to the screen to the left.
There will be a Save Album and a yellow pipe there. Save, then go up the pipe.
A cutscene will now begin. Watch Cackletta do something to Bowser...no, not
THAT! Once it's over, you will regain control in east Beanbean.
Hit the switch to open the gate. Prince Peasley will then come telling you to
go to Beanbean Airport. But before we head there, let's go back to Beanbean
Castle first. To get there, just head two screens left. If you need anything,
just go around the stores and buy the stuff. If you can afford a coffee at the
Starbeans Cafe, go ahead and get one. Otherwise, we must continue on.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
                        (3.10) Beanbean Int'l Airport
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
To get to the airport, leave Beanbean Castle from the western exit. Take the
bridge down towards the bottom, then make a right. You should see a sign along
the yellow path. Continue to the right screen and cross a tree in the water.
There should be another sign there. Go down now and you will see two orbs. Use
Luigi's Thunderhand to light them up. A bridge will now appear. Cross it and
continue down. Another two screens will get you to the airport.
Once you're there, go down and cross the bridge. You'll will hear that Lady
Lima is waiting for you. Next screen. You will see that Princess Peach's plane
can't land because of all th Piranha Plants. That's simple enough. If you take
them out one by one, they will keep regenerating. What you need to do is look
for a fountain. There is one near the top of any screen with Piranha Plants.
Spray the small Piranha Plants with water, then use Luigi's Thunderhand to
electrocute it. A crack will begin to appear on the egg. Do that to all of the
Piranha Plants. The egg will then hatch and a big piranha will come out.
Before you fight it, make sure you save. You can walk around to the left side
of the Piranha Plant and hit the Save Album before fighting the boss. Of
course, heal up.
                                -BOSS BATTLE-
+----------------------------------+
| MOM PIRANHA                      |
|----------------------------------|
| HP          | 220                |
| EXP Gained  | 400+               |
| Coins       | 0                  |
| Items       | Spiny Badge A      |
| Weakness    | Thunder(Red)/Fire  |
| Absorbs     | Thunder(Blue)/Fire |
+----------------------------------+
Mom Piranha's not too hard of a boss. She starts out red with two Piranha
Plants guarding her. You can go all out on mom, but these will react every
time you do. So destroy the plants first. The red ones are weak against
thunder and absorbs fire. After destorying those, attack mom with the hammer
and Thunderhand attack. After a few turns, the Piranha Plants may regenerate.
Blue ones may start appearing. These absorb thunder and are weak to fire. Mom
may also change colors. Same changes goes for her.
Mom Piranha has a few different attacks. First off isn't really an attack, but
a tactic. Every few turns she will heal. It's not enough to make a big
difference if you are strong. She has an energy ball attack too though. She
will charge up an attack, then let it fly. It will slowly go over a brother's
head. When it is coming down, hold up your hammer. Let it fly over back to the
enemies. Mom Piranha's last attack is a vine whip. When there are no Piranha
Plants on the battlefield, she will walk up and hold one vine near an end.
After about a second, she'll let it whip out underneath both brothers. Press
A and B both at the same time as the attack is lightning fast. If a brother is
hit, they may be stunned until their turn. As a side note, the experience you
gain is 400 plus extra for every Piranha Plant you defeated.
                   <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
After defeating her, watch Mom Piranha meat Mr. Green Derriere and move on
back to the right. The exit will be blocked by Lady Lima. Talk to her to
activate the event in which Peach arrives in her Barbie-Pink airplane. Watch
the scene. What's this? Peach can talk! omgwtf. See Mario and Luigi's faces
look like they've wasted days of their life doing nothing. Looks like
mysteries of the game were finally uncovered.
When the scene is over, head up a screen in Beanbean Castle to watch a scene
with Peach. She wants to go through Teehee Valley to visit Little Fungitown.
Luigi opposes this idea, but of course only the older brother gets a say in
this monarchy. Toadsworth says they'll meet you at the entrance of Teehee
Valley. Before going there however, let's do some shopping as the shops here
have some new items.
When you're done, exit through the eastern exit. Head up one screen and you'll
find a Thunder Orb. Light it up with Thunderhand. The gate will open. Now
follow the twisting path to get to a cave. Any path that you take from the
gate will get you there.
Once you're there, hit the Save Album, then walk down the steps. Cross the
bridge to find the Hammer Bros.! The Hammer Bros. learned that they can now
make your hammers better. And it's free. So why the heck didn't they do it
before? Sheesh! Anyway, say yes, and then you'll have your new Super Hammers!
These hammers can break gray rocks. No, not the black ones yet. Why am I
making you do this? Because it's required.
Before you leave their house, go to the right and break the rock there. Walk
up the bridge and break that rock there. Talk to the thwomp there. If you want
to test your luck, cough up 200 coins and break a rock. Just to note, your
result is automatically decided when you talk to Thwomp. All the rocks contain
the same thing. Break a rock, and if you're lucky, you'll get a special Bros.
Attack!
Head back to the Thunder Orb that you lit up to enter this passage. Walk up
north from there to find the entrance to Teehee Valley blocked by a rock. Use
your new hammers to break it and gain passage. We're here, watch the scene
with the princess!
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
After you watch the scene, we'll automatically be having to save the princess.
Sheesh, this isn't even with Bowser, how hard is it to NOT get captures?
*sigh* Walk to the left and enter the yellow pipe. You'll be in an underground
chasis. Follow the path and simply talk to Peach when you find her. You'll be
taken automatically back outside the pipe.
OK, so here's how this works. Peach goes around in a predetermined path. The
path is always the same. As soon as an enemy touches her, back to the pipe she
goes. You start from the nearest yellow pipe. If you want to change her
path, talk to her and she'll go in the opposite direction. ALWAYS let her go
to the next screen first. If you don't then she'll disappear and you'll have
to go back to get her in the pipe. She'll also get caught it she's off your
screen for too long, so keep her in sight. BTW, in case you're wondering, you
can't abandon Peach and go to Little Fungitown all by yourself. Something will
block you. :)
Start the journey with Peach through this first screen. Kill any Gritty
Goombas that are in your way, make sure Peach doesn't touch any. When you
reach the end of the path, continue. The next screen is also relatively
simple. Kill any enemies in your way and when Peach comes close to the gate,
hit the exclamation point block next to it to allow access. When you get to
the end, go to the next screen.
Now this one is a little trick. First, kill the Gritty Goomba and company near
the end of the path. Next, have Peach move back. Hit the switch going back to
drop a barrel on the top of the steps under you. When Peach reaches the base
of the steps, talk to her to get her to turn back. While she's walking up
above, jump up the steps. Go ahead of her while keeping her on screen. Smash
the rock, then Mole under the barrel. Fall down, have Mario stand on the
barrel and hit the switch. That'll open the door, and probably just in time
for Peach to pass by. If you screwed up and Peach is about to go past your
screen, ignore the barrel and just jump down and get her to turn back,
starting over. Let's try not to waste more time by saving her in the yellow
pipe.
This screen is annoying. As soon as you enter, jump up the first stair in
front of you, then switch to High Jump. Quickly get up top, then use the Spin
Jump to go across the platforms. For the last one where there are several
columns close together, skip the one in the middle and go straight to the end
to save time. Hit the exclamation mark and let the gate open. Make sure Peach
is on your screen at all times. If she goes off, abandon the Spin Jumps and go
meet her to start over.
After this, watch the scene. You will automatically move. Peach will walk on
ahead of you. This is obviously bad. When you regain control, make sure you
save and heal up. Go up ahead and continue. We can never leave her alone, can
we?
There are two ways to defeat Trunkle. The easiest way is to hit his head.
Although many say that it is hard to defeat it, there is a trick to it. Jumps
do minimum damage, but hammers do normal damage. However, hammer attacks miss.
