INTRODUCTION

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

********IF YOU WANT TO WIN THE GAME, DO NOT SAVE IT!!!!****************

I hope to write a complete FAQ/walkthrough for the game soon.

I thought the most difficult part of this game was growing the berries. The
instruction manual does not do a good job of explaining how to grow them and
what the growth enhancers really do. After many hours of trial and error and
some great information from the fine folks at Majesco Games, I discovered the
secret to growing a level 10 berry every time.

To win the game, you only have to grow a strawberry two times and a blueberry
once. Ginger Snap wants 10 strawberries to make Strappleburst juice, Angel
Cake needs 50 strawberries for her cake, and Blueberry Muffin needs one level 8
blueberry. A level 10 berry yields 50 normal sized berries. If you bring
Blueberry Muffin more blueberries, she gives you a random growth enhancer.
You can grow the other two types of berries, gumberries and bubbleberries
if you want. They have no effect on the outcome of the game.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

TYPES OF BERRIES AND GROWTH ENHANCERS

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

**TYPES OF BERRIES**

1. Strawberries--you have strawberry seeds by default when you begin the game.

2. Blueberries--when you first meet Blueberry Muffin in front of her house,
she will give you blueberry seeds.

3. Gumberries--these are obtained on the second screen in the orchard level.
You have to make sure you walk uphill after completing the first screen. The
plant will be on the ground, under an apple tree near the end of the screen.
You simply walk by the plant. When you hear a bell ding, you have
successfully picked gumberry seeds.

4. Bubbleberries--the seeds are the prize for winning the bakeoff with your
level 10 strawberries or blueberries. Sometimes Blueberry Muffin may give you
bubbleberry seeds for bringing her a level 8+ blueberry.

You can grow unlimited amounts of a berry once you have the seeds.

**TYPES OF GROWTH ENHANCERS**(NOTE: Information about units added comes
from the manual.)

You have some of these by default at the beginning. You obtain others by
bringing items to friends or by collecting the big strawberries found in
almost all the levels. (The chocodrops level is the only one without
strawberries.) Each growth enhancer has its own icon that appears on the top
of the screen while in garden mode. These will not appear in your inventory
list. To access an enhancer, use the right and left arrows on the control
pad to scroll through your items until it appears in the highlighted box.
To apply an enhancer, make sure it's in the middle of the screen, then
press A.

1. Harvest Basket--you have this automatically when you begin. The icon
looks like a basket. Use it to harvest your berries before the timer expires.

2. Water--you have this automatically when you begin. The icon looks like a
water can. Adds 1 unit of water to your plant.

3. Plant food packet--you have this automatically when you begin. The icon
looks like a seed packet that is ripped in one corner and spilling out seeds.
It's fertilizer. Adds 1 unit of plant food.

4. Weed wither--you have this automatically when you begin. The icon looks
like some grass with a several pieces of candy flying over it. Reduces weed
growth by 2.

5. Fruit Flute Tune 1--obtained by collecting a strawberry or as a random
item from Blueberry Muffin. The icon looks like a flute with a purple music
note. Increases size by 4.

6. Double Decker--obtained as a random gift from Blueberry Muffin. The icon
has an outline of strawberry with a color picture of a strawberry in the
middle. Doubles fruit size.

7. Weed Wacker--this is obtained by collecting a strawberry or randomly
from Blueberry Muffin. The icon looks like grass with a gumberry
floating over it. Reduces weed growth by 4.

8. Fruit Juice--random gift from Blueberry Muffin. The icon looks like
two water drops. Increases plant food by 2.

9. Sherbet Spooners--give Rainbow Sherbet at least one chocodrop. The
icon looks like a rainbow spoon with ice cream on it. Increases plant
food by 3 and sweetness by 1.

10. Swollen Seeders--obtain by collecting strawberries or random gift from
Blueberry Muffin. The icon looks like several colorful hard candies.
Increases plant food by 4.

11. Loud Cloud--obtained by collecting strawberries or random gift from
Blueberry Muffin. The icon looks like a smiley cloud. Adds 3 water.
I've locked the game using this item.

12. Fruit Flute Tune 2--obtained by collecting strawberries. The icon looks
like a flute with a green musical note. Increases sweetness by 4.

13. Sugar Drops--obtained by collecting strawberries or by random gift
from Blueberry Muffin. The icon looks like snowflakes. Increases sweetness
by 1.

14. Fruit Flavor--obtained as random gift from Blueberry Muffin.
The icon looks like a large water drop. Increases sweetness by 2.

15. Flower Power Powder--obtained by collecting strawberries or as a random
gift from Blueberry Muffin. The icon looks like flowers. Increases
sweetness by 2.

16. Sunburst--obtained by collecting strawberries or as random gift from
Blueberry Muffin. The icon looks like a smiley sun. It adds 2 plant food
to strawberry and blueberry plants. It subtracts 2 from gumberries.

HOW TO GROW A LEVEL 10 BERRY

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

STRAWBERRIES AND BLUEBERRIES

Both these berries have the same growth requirements in order to get a
level 10 berry.

Step 1. Enter your garden either by selecting the garden on the map or by
pressing the B button at the garden gate.

Step 2. Scroll through the berry inventory using the right or left control
pad buttons. When your desired berry is in the middle, highlighted slot at
the top of the screen, press the A button to plant.

Step 3. Now the growth enhancers you have obtained are shown in boxes at the
top of the screen. To grow strawberries and blueberries, you only need the
default enhancers. They are the watering can, the plant food, the weed
wither, and the harvest basket. It doesn't matter what order you apply
enhancers. I usually start with water, then add plant food, and finally weed
wither. To scroll through the enhancer menu, use the right and left control
pad buttons. When the icon of the desired enhancer is in the highlighted box,
press A to apply it. You simply apply water, plant food, and weed wither over
and over until the blue and pink growth bars on the right side of the screen
fill up to the top. If it happens before the timer (the pink striped bar on
the right side of the screen) runs out, scroll to the harvest basket and
press A to pick the berry. If the timer runs out, the berry is automatically
harvested. Don't worry about running out of water, food, and weed wither.
You have unlimited quantities, and you can add as much as you like. Once
harvested, your kitty cat will tell you the level of your berry.
If you did not get the desired level, repeat steps 2 and 3.

BUBBLEBERRIES

These are grown following the same steps listed above for strawberries and
blueberries. I have grown level 10 bubbleberries using this methods.
Occasionally it will not grow big enough. If you see the time running out
and the berry is small, use the fruit flute tune 1 to increase its size.
(This flute is the one with a purple musical note in the background.)

GUMBERRIES

These are the most challenging berry to grow. They have different
requirements than the other three berries. You will have to gather the
strawberries found within the game to obtain the necessary growth enhancers.
You need the loud cloud and any of the sweeteners (fruit flute tune 2, sugar
drops, fruit flavor, or flower power). You will need several of these
enhancers.

Step 1. Enter your garden either by selecting the garden on the map or
by pressing the B button at the garden gate.

Step 2. Scroll through the berry inventory using the right or left
control pad buttons. When your desired berry is in the highlighted box at
the top of the screen, press the A button to plant.

Step 3. As with the other berries, add water, plant food, and weed wither.
After you have added this combination a couple of times, scroll over to the
loud cloud and apply it. Watch the blue and pink growth bars on the sides.
Continue to apply the loud cloud until the pink bar gets past the halfway
point. Then scroll over to the sweeteners. Apply any sweeteners you have.
You should see the blue bar move up. Continue applying water, plant food,
and weed wither until all the bars are at the top. If you have any sweeteners
left, use them. It never hurts to add more.

                    MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want to win the game, do not save it. Saving the game and resuming it
with the password contains a glitch--you cannot finish the game. It resets
your checklist and you can never clear the tasks from the list.

Thank you to Legoguy and Baby Boo, my own sweet little berries, who helped me
by collecting those strawberries over and over again.
