P U R P O S E O F T H I S G U I D E
=============================================================================
The available information on the various Pokemon has been split into two
guides. This is the most important guide, so I hope you spend more time
with this one. It contains all the basic data for each Pokemon, where you
might find them, what abilities they'll learn and so forth.
What it doesn't contain is the stats they gain at each and every level.
Because Level Up stats are unique for almost all Pokemon and follow no easy
formula, this has been split up into another Guide that contains just the
Level Up data. This second guide is far far larger than the Rescue Team
Pokedex, and due to the availability of stat-raising items (Life Seeds,
Protein, etc.), is far less useful. However, it's available for anyone who
should want or need that data, and correct use of it can cut down on the
amount of effort required to max out your stats.
With that said, let's get on with the show.

U N D E R S T A N D I N G T H E D A T A
=============================================================================
Before we move on to the Pokemon data itself, let's discuss how the data is
laid out. Each Pokemon will be laid out like so:
ID/Name
=======
First, the numerical ID of the Pokemon as well as their name and
basic description are given.
Base Stats (HP, EXP, Att/Def, SpA/SpD)
======================================
These are the critical stats for this Pokemon. It starts with the
Lv1 HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack and Special Defense values.
It also has the Base EXP value for killing a Lv1 Pokemon of this
species.
You can calculate the Base EXP for any level Pokemon by adding 10%
of the Base EXP for every level above Lv1 the Pokemon is. For
example, the Base EXP of a Lv1 Bulbasaur is 18. Thus, the Base
EXP for a Lv50 Bulbasaur would be 18 + 490% * 18, which is 106.
Remember that you get half this value if you defeat the Pokemon
with no Technique being used, and 150% of this value if the
Pokemon has been the target of a Combination Technique.
Base Stats (Size, Type, Inherent, Gummi)
========================================
The next section just has some extra data. The Body Size tells
you how big the Pokemon is - this is important for party
composition and recruiting. You can never have more than 6 Stars
worth of Pokemon in your party at any time.
Type and Inherents are self-explanatory from previous games in
the series. Type is the affinity of the Pokemon, and tells you
what abilities they're best with, and hints at what attacks may
be strongest or weakest against them. Inherents are special
passive abilities that the Pokemon has that may take effect at
certain times.
Finally, the Preferred Gummi is a little bonus bit of information
that tells you which Gummis are best for this Pokemon. The color
of the best Gummis to use will be given, and next to it will be
the amount of IQ the Pokemon will gain from eating this Gummi.
Pokemon with two Types will have two Gummis to choose from, each
giving at least 8 points of IQ. I've listed both because Gummis of
a particular Type can be a pain to get, so it's nice to have an
alternative.
Stat Growth
===========
The next table is the basic stats the Pokemon would have at various
levels, starting at Lv1 and working its way up 10 levels at a time
until Lv100. This does not display their maximum stats - you can
use infinite amounts of Life Seeds, Sitrus Berries, Protein,
Calcium, Iron and Zinc to increase the stats up to the capped values
in the game. In addition, Pokemon evolved from previous forms will
usually have different stats at each level since they began with a
different set of Base Stats and often gain stats at a different rate
than their evolved form.
The EXP Req is simply the total amount of Experience they require in
order to reach the listed level, which should help show how quickly
the Pokemon levels.
Recruiting
==========
This has two main sections: the Recruit Rate and the Friend Area.
The Recruit Rate is the base percentage chance of getting this
Pokemon to join. Some Pokemon will be impossible to Recruit - this
will be reflected here. You will also notice that many Pokemon have
a negative or zero chance of being recruited. This means you cannot
recruit this Pokemon without using bonuses.
There are two bonuses you may make use of. If the Leader has the
Friend Ribbon equipped, you will get a bonus of 10% to the Recruit
Rate of any Pokemon. In addition, if the Leader is at a high
enough level, there will be additional bonuses to Recruit Rate:

The maximum bonus (L90+ and Friend Ribbon) is 34%. Please note that
Rescue Team Rank, Party Size, Type and so forth cannot increase this
chance, though some factors may contribute in preventing you from
recruiting the Pokemon at this time.
After the Recruit Rate will be a box with two values inside. The
first value is the Level you must be in order to recruit this
Pokemon without the Friend Ribbon. The second value is the Level
you must be to recruit it *with* the Friend Ribbon. This is just
a useful extra bit of info calculated from the chances above -
they're the minimum Levels you need in order to have a greater than
zero chance of recruiting the Pokemon.
The Friend Area is simply which Friend Area you require for this
Pokemon. In most cases, if you do not have the correct Friend Area,
you will be unable to recruit the Pokemon. However, some Pokemon
give you an Automatic Friend Area when you recruit them - this will
be listed next to the Recruit Rate. If this is the case, then you
will automatically get their Friend Area when you successfully
recruit the Pokemon.
Where To Get
============
The next section details where you can recruit this Pokemon. This
will either be by evolving from a previous form - in this case,
the requirements to evolve will be listed here.
Or, you may be able to find it in a dungeon and recruit it there.
If this is the case, all the dungeons you can possibly recruit it
from will be listed, along with what Level the Pokemon will be
there. If the Pokemon cannot be recruited by fighting it, then
no dungeons will be listed.
Also, if there's any other unique commentary about recruiting
this Pokemon, it will be listed immediately after this.
Abilities
=========
This is the list of abilities available to this Pokemon, either
through levelling or through the use of Technical or Hidden
Machines. On the left are those that are learned by levelling, as
well as the level it will be learned at. On the right are the TMs
and HMs the Pokemon is compatible with.
One thing that should be remarked upon is the Move Tutor in town.
The Move Tutor is able to teach you any Levelled ability your
species learns, providing you have already achieved the correct
level for it. It will also teach you moves from your
pre-evolution forms, but only up to the level you evolved at.
An example is necessary here. Let's say you levelled a Pichu up
to 50, and gained Volt Tackle (this requires 333 points of IQ as
well, but we'll assume you have this). You then use Doom Seeds to
decrease its level to L40, and then evolve it to Pikachu. Even
though Pikachu still has Volt Tackle, the Move Tutor will no
longer be able to teach it to Pikachu even if he forgets it,
because the evolution from Pichu occurred at L40.
Because of the availability of moves from the Move Tutor, as well
as the infinite number of stat-raising items, it likely pays more
to concentrate on what abilities you'll gain from pre-evolution
forms rather than the superior level up stats of an evolved form.
Quotes
======
This last section details what the Pokemon will say when you talk
to it within the dungeon. The Normal line is what it says under
normal conditions, while the 50% HP and 25% HP are what it says
when it has less than that much HP. The Lvl Up line is what it
says when it gains a level.
The Pokemon that are available to choose as your Partner have an
additional section giving the lines they say in that situation.
These tend to be slightly more personal. Once you complete the
game, however, they will no longer use the Partner-specific
quotes.
