[IN01] I. Introduction
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Originally released as Final Fantasy III for the Super Nintendo in November
of 1993 in the United States, Final Fantasy VI was the last of the sprite-
based Final Fantasy games. Afterwards, the series leapt to the PlayStation
with FF7 and to gamers' mainstream acceptance of Japanese-style RPGs. Some
also argue that the series jumped the shark with FF7, but that's a whole
different story. (I'm not one of them.)
This guide is the first that I've written totally in an English typeset.
This guide is based on the NA release of Final Fantasy 6 Advance (henceforth
abbreviated as FF6A), though I've played the original SNES version
extensively and have played partially through the Super Famicom release as
well. Therefore, many questions on items not already listed on this guide I
can answer.
If you're looking for specific information on how to get the best Rages for
Gau or milking the Colosseum late in the game, I would highly recommend the
guides on the original SNES game on gamefaqs.com. FF6 is among the most
hacked games ever; every single statistic down to how many strands of hair
Starlet/Lakshmi's sprite has is documented.
Well, okay, maybe NOT that, but I'm sure someone will count and figure it out
right now for me now that I've mentioned it!
Plot spoilers are kept to a minimum in the walkthrough section of the guide,
with the exception of what's in the Table of Contents. Puzzle spoilers
abound, because that's the whole point of a walkthrough. If you don't wish
to spoiled on these - don't read this guide.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[01NA] 1 - Narshe - Mining Town
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
=============================================================================
Required Characters: Many, most of which will either leave or bite the dust
shortly.
Enemies: #1-6
- Guard, Silver Lobo, Megalodoth, Wererat, Spritzer, Bandit
Bosses: #276-278
=============================================================================
After you watch the initial cutscene, you'll have control of three
characters: Biggs and Wedge, both Imperial Soldiers; and a mysterious green-
tressed girl whose name is veiled in ?????? marks. During this beginning
phase of the game, all of your characters will be equipped in Magitek armors,
used by the Gestahlian Empire to cause mass destruction. You cannot be
forced out of them. Enjoy them while they last, because you will have them
for about 10-15 minutes. In battle, you will have access to two commands,
while the green-haired girl will have access to three:
o-------o
Magitek

|(Magic)| <---green-haired girl only
Item
o-------o
Selecting Magitek will bring up the following options. Those with an * are
skills only available to the green-haired girl in Magitek Armor, while the
other four are available to anyone piloting one of those gears:
o-----------------------------------o
Fire Beam Thunder Beam
Ice Beam Bio Blast*
Healing Force Confuser*
Banisher* Magitek Missile*
o-----------------------------------o
Fire Beam, Thunder Beam, and Ice Beam all release an elemental attack
corresponding to their names. Healing Force defaults to your allies, healing
them for a lot of HP recovery. Confuser temporarily confuses your enemies,
but its usefulness is about nil here. The big winners are the green-haired
girl's Bio Blast, which attack all enemies on screen for poison damage, and
Magitek Missile, which is a non-elemental attack to any single enemy.
Banisher, which insta-kills any monster, is fun, but ineffective against
bosses.
You have your orders, soldiers! You should use your big Magitek armors and
head north. Step just past the inn, and you'll encounter your first battle.
Turning right from the inn will force you into the one optional battle in the
town area of Narshe. Continue heading north to the mine area when you get
through the first five fights here.
#1 - Guard x 2
#2 (Optional) - Silver Lobo
#3 - Silver Lobo x 2
#4 - Guard x 2
#5 - Guard, Silver Lobo + Guard (Surrounded Attack)
After you step up the first flight of stairs in the second area, you'll be
engaged again in a non-escapable fight. Bio Blast them with the girl.
#6 - Megalodoth x 2, Guard x 2
Continue north into the mines. You'll get stopped by a brief dialogue before
you enter. Once you're inside the cave, you will begin to encounter random
enemies. Note that the Wererats in this area are resistant to Bio Blast; use
one of the standard Magitek armor attacks to defeat them.
Head north. You'll see a bright blue light west of you, and mine tracks
heading to the east. While you can't squeeze your way through the shaft to
your right in your armors - mobility is far from their strong suit - you can
go and touch that blue dot. This is the first of several save points. Press
on the light to get a thorough explanation about their mysterious properties,
then press the start button and select Save. Head north along the mine cart
tracks and walk up to the gate at the northernmost point. It will be opened.
Head through, and you'll encounter the first boss.

Ah, the pesky little lightning whelk! Biggs and Wedge will give you advice
on how to handle him. The Final Fantasy series seems to LOVE to throw a boss
like this as your very first one, just to teach you the virtues of not
pummeling a monster to death immediately. Apparently the moral you should
draw from this is that death is a dish best served slowly.
Ymir will pop his head out of his shell at the start of the fight. After you
do damage to it, however, it will pop it back in. If you entered your
commands in too quickly, your characters will default to attacking the only
remaining thing, its shell, causing it to do its Megavolt attack for 30
damage to every character. Thunder attacks heal its shell. Its slime move
slows you, but this presents more of an annoyance than an actual hazard.
Thus, whenever its head is in the shell, wait, put down your GBA or DS and
twiddle your thumbs, then nail it with Magitek Missile. Four shots of that
should win you the day.
While it is possible if you're incredibly bored to defeat the shell (it runs
out of sufficient MP to do Megavolt fairly quickly), it is NOT worth your
time to do so, as should clearly be apparent by looking at the shell's HP
total. Killing only the squishy part nets you bestiary credit for both.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
**********
Treasures: Elixir, Phoenix Down, Sleeping Bag
**********
Once the Ymir is dead, head the rest of the way through the tunnel and north.
Touch the object in ice on the alcove, and Biggs and Wedge will leave your
party. You'll find yourself transported to inside a house. Talk to the man
to your right by walking up to him and pressing the A button. After a brief
dialogue, you will be able to name the green-haired girl. Her name defaults
to Terra. Before you leave, be sure and check the clock by the door for a
valuable Elixir. Head outside via the back door the old man is standing next
to.
Go west along the path, over the bridge, and into the cave. The Spritzers
and Bandits in this area are easily dispatched using Terra's Fire spell.
Press L or R to have the spell target multiple enemies. Follow the path
there northwest until you reach a save point. Cross the bridge and go up the
stairs to your right to pick up a Phoenix Down from inside the chest there.
Head west across the bridge, pop the chest to get a Sleeping Bag, then go
across the north bridge and up the staircase to your right. Continue north
and you'll be forced into a corner down a hole. Your perspective will
temporarily change at this point to a new character - a thie...er, treasure
hunter named Locke - and a host of happy, ebullient Moogles, all who are
willing to protect a girl they've never seen before in their lives.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Assault #1 - Protect Terra!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your task is simple. You will divide up into three teams, which you can
position to block the six teams of enemies on screen moving slowly towards
Terra. You can also move them straight for the boss to avoid fighting the
rest of the enemies.
Team 1: Team 2: Team 3:
Locke Mog Mogsy
Moglin Molulu Mogwin
Mogret Moghan Mugmug
Moggie Moguel Cosmog
Your first priority should be to move Locke's team forward and to a side
corridor, then have Mog's team move to intercept one of the enemies along the
side. Mog has a special ability, Dance, where he can unleash powerful
attacks based on scenery areas he's been to before. He learns a new dance
any time he lives through a fight in a new area. The dance he learns here,
Twilight Requiem, allows him to do a huge amount of damage to the boss.
After he's learned it, mop up the remaining enemies with teams one and three,
clearing a path for Mog's team to attack the leader of the guards. If you
were lucky, you got through Mog's team's first fight without a single
scratch, leaving them in prime health for:

Two Silver Lobos will also attack with the Guard Leader. The Net attack from
the Guard Leader will levy the Stop effect on one of your allies. Other than
that, he's a piece of cake. Have Mog Dance Twilight Requiem, and if you're
lucky, he'll use Snare and defeat the Guard Leader in a single blow.

Nearby Treasures: Potion, Sleeping Bag, Ether.
****************
After this, Terra will join Locke, and you'll head outside the mines to the
front of Narshe. Enter the Beginner's House for some sound adventuring
advice. There are three rooms inside - the lefternmost contains a Potion in
the chest inside; the middle room's chest a Sleeping Bag, and the pot in the
right room contains an Ether. The box on the left side of that final room
has a Silver Lobo-in-a-box, and the mangy mutt doesn't leave anything behind
when you beat him.
After you've talked to everyone and taken a sip out of the bucket in the main
lobby to refill your HP, leave Narshe. Your adventure begins...

=============================================================================
Required Characters: Terra, Locke, ?????
Enemies: #7-10
- Leaf Bunny, Darkwind, Sand Ray, Alacran
Bosses: #279
=============================================================================
The next stop on your journey is to Figaro, a desert country to the southwest
of Narshe. En route there, you'll find Leaf Bunnies and Darkwinds on the
grassy plains and forest areas, and hitting the desert you'll encounter Sand
Rays and Alacrans. Look on your world map in your lower right-hand portion
of your screen for a white dot southwest of Narshe, and you'll have no
trouble arriving to a big castle. Southwest of the castle is a small forest
with a Chocobo Stable for the price of 100 gil per ride. Hardly worthwhile
at this point, but good to know all the same, eh?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Castle Figaro
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
**********
Treasures: Phoenix Down, Gold Needle, Potion, Antidote
**********
Enter the castle. You can explore very slightly, but you're better off
heading straight and plowing through every double-door in your path to speak
with the King. Approach the throne and speak to him, and you'll make Edgar's
acquaintance formally.
Take the staircase outside the throne room to a Phoenix Down, then go back
into the carpeted corridor into either of the two side rooms for some quality
shopping. The store on the left specializes in recovery items, and the chest
next to the merchant holds a Gold Needle. The store on the right has a
series of items that are used by Edgar. Buy the Noise and Bioblaster, but do
not buy the Auto Crossbow. You will receive that automatically shortly.
Next to the merchant are chests containing a Potion and an Antidote,
respectively.

After you buy those items plus any other you want, go south out, then head
outside to the two doors blocked previously by the guards. Go west, down the
staircase to outside, then head northwest in the building. Talk to the
matronly High Priestess standing north of the table for some background about
Edgar and his brother, Sabin. Go back the way you came towards the throne
room. Talk to the green-caped Chancellor in the carpeted corridor, then go
inside and talk to Edgar. A brief CS will occur, switching you to Edgar's
point of view. Talk to the individuals that have just come to Figaro, then
head back north to talk to Locke. You'll switch back to Terra. Follow Locke
outside, then go northeast to the small tower. Climb the stairs and talk to
Locke inside.
After you're done, you'll switch back to Edgar again. Talk to the green-clad
character south of you, then run north and talk to the one Figaro soldier not
running around standing guard in front of the doors to the Throne Room.
After another CS, you'll be thrust into a battle versus two Magitek Armors:
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I don't even think these guys qualify as bosses, really. If you have Terra
cast a spell during this battle, Edgar and Locke will go into a brief mid-
battle dialogue. If you miss it here, no worries; the first time you have
Terra cast a spell in battle in both of their presence, they'll express their
shock.
Otherwise, just have Edgar pummel them with a couple rounds of his Auto
Crossbow. They'll fall as rapidly as leaves on an autumn day.

Treasures: Variable (see below).
**********
As you enter the cave area, Edgar will talk to the soldier standing guard and
bid him to go back to Figaro. Enter the cave, and drink the water to refill
your hit points. Head east and south to the next part of the cave.
DO NOT OPEN ANY CHESTS. Normally I would recommend going to get every
treasure chest - a detour northwest and upstairs will lead you to an Ether.
Two more chests, an Ether due southeast and a Phoenix Down west up a short
staircase from that, are ripe for the plundering! Resist the urge. DO NOT
OPEN THESE CHESTS. If you wait for just a little bit, they can grow to be
more powerful than you can possibly imagine!
To get out of the cave, all you need to do is follow the path east and south,
then take the western fork and follow it until you see a stairwell tunnel
north. Take that, head west and down, and then follow the path outside.

*********
After you've exited the cave, head southeasterly to enter the town of South
Figaro. There are a few more enemies ripe for the killing in the plains
surrounding town for Bestiary completionists.
As you enter South Figaro, you'll see a navy-clad figure heading southwards.
Follow him into the Pub, talk to him, and Edgar will identify him as the
assasin, Shadow. While talking to him now is not strictly necessary.
Go outside the pub the way you came, and head west to check the barrel north
of two crates for an Antidote. Head further west to the two crates at the
edge of town to pick up a Gold Needle. Run back up to by the Chocobo Stable
to pick up a Potion in one of the two barrels, and inside one of the crates
by it will be a Green Cherry. Head northeast towards the weapon and armor
shop, then pull a Potion out of the barrel in between them outside. Go up
the stairs to your right and head west along the outer walls all the around
to above the Chocobo Stable. Check the southeast barrel for a Teleport
Stone. Finally, go to the left house in the southeast part of town, where an
old man lives, and go downstairs and check in the bucket for a Potion.
While there are other treasures available here now, we'll pick them up when
you get a bit further along in the game. See section 7 for more details.

Once you're around the cliff, go through the first cave opening you see all

Travel north, cross the bridge to the next peak, and go inside yet ANOTHER

As soon as you enter, talk to the fellow at the gate. When he stops leading
you around, check in the pot next to the suit of armor for a Green Cherry.
Go inside the room just west of that to get a Phoenix Down. Go back to the
door where the Returner stopped at, go through, save on the save point, and
pop the chest for a Hi-Potion. Talk to Banon. Talk to Locke afterwards. Go
out the door, then north to three chests that contain an Air Knife, Phoenix
Down, and a Knight's Code. Check in the bucket for an Antidote, the pot for
an Ether, and then wiggle your way between the rightmost wall and the crates
to discover a secret passage to a White Cape.
Return back to the main room's table and talk to Sabin, then go to where you
met with Banon to talk with Edgar. When you're done with that, talk to the
goggled Returner and go outside. When you talk to Banon, there are two
possible scenarios. Answering yes to his request at any time results in a
dialogue giving a brief explanation about the War of the Magi, but you
receive a Gauntlet from Banon. Refusal to aid him three times results in

Lete River

The best thing about the Lete River is its potential for pure level gain.
Within 20 minutes, you can boost your characters' levels to 13-15, high
enough for Sabin to obtain Rising Phoenix, a multi-enemy fire-based Blitz
attack. Doing this will also guarantee one of your later characters will be
sufficiently leveled to get a powerful multi-attack of his own. You could
level up higher on here if you wished, but after 20 minutes of it on a
For your first decision point, choose any of the three directions you're
presented with. All three lead to the same destination. You'll enter a
cave. Hop off, save, and then get back on the raft once you heal up as you
see appropriate.
The second decision point is the fabled infinite step-free, thinking-free
experience loop. If you select Up, you will go around in a circle again and
again and again. Hold down the A button, glance up every two minutes or so
to press the A button to go up again, and chill out for a bit glancing at
whatever you like reading on the Internet. (Or reading this guide.)
When you're ready to break the loop, select "Left", wait until you get booted
off the raft automatically to save at the second save point, then save. Then
hop on the raft to head down river to your first meeting with the venerable
and multi-talented (armed)...

Ahh, adorable Ulty. Have Sabin punch it to bits (I recommend using his Aura
Cannon Blitz), Edgar shoot at it with his Auto Crossbow, Terra hack at it,
and Banon Pray to recover hit points. When Terra uses Fire or when Sabin
uses his Rising Phoenix attack, it will retaliate with a single person Ink
attack upon the initiating character. It will also use a tentacle attack to
hit one ally for about ~250 HP, starting with Terra; be sure to have Banon
spamming Pray, and you will be safe for most of the fight. If you're on
level 13 or above as I suggested, he will give you no problems at all.

After the battle, wave bye-bye to Sabin as he gets washed down the river.
You'll switch to Mog's vantage point temporarily to choose one of three

order, but I personally recommend going from left to right in the order I
originally stated.

[07LS] 7A. Locke's Scenario
_____________________________________________________________________________
=============================================================================
Required Characters: Locke, ?????
Enemies:
South Figaro - #24-26
- Heavy Armor*, Vector Hound, Commander
Cave of Figaro - #27-29
- Cartagra, Acrophies, Gold Bear
Bosses: #283
*Heavy Armor should be skipped for now. You will get an opportunity to
battle one in Narshe later.

[07FS] South Figaro
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
*****************
Deferred Treasure: Elixir, Phoenix Down, Hyper Wrist, Hermes Sandals, 500
gil, 1000 gil, 1500 gil, empty
*****************
*****************
Scenario Treasure: Iron Armor, Heavy Shield, Great Sword, X-Potion, Hi-Ether,
Ribbon, Earring
*****************
Locke starts off in the southeastern part of South Figaro. A guard blocks
the easy way out. Go into the old lady's house immediately next to your
starting point and go downstairs to find a Save Point, then head back
outside. The soldier in the Magitek Armor, a Heavy Armor, will slaughter
Locke with ease. Don't talk to it. Instead, go up the staircase past the
old man's house and into the item shop. Talk to the merchant there, then use
Locke's Steal in battle to take his too-small clothes. It may take a couple
of tries, but you will eventually do it. Merchants will sometimes drop items
like Plumed Hats and Main Gauches. Go back to the old man's house, then go
downstairs. The kid there will let you pass now that he sees you're a
merchant.
Note that the Merchant and any other NPC you steal clothes from do NOT count
as Bestiary monsters. Therefore, don't bother killing them.
Once you exit out the back of the house, go to the weapon and armor shops,
then climb the staircase outside there.** Go around the upper wall leftwards
until you reach a Green Imperial Soldier. Talk to him and steal his large
clothes. No, you're never going to find the clothes that are JUST right for
Locke, but enjoy the price of these garments! Go back downstairs and talk to
the soldier standing south of the Magitek Armor in front of the mansion by
the chocobo stable. Enter the Pub and walk downstairs, then accost the
merchant there for his cider. Head back to the old man's house, hand him the
cider, then go downstairs and tell the little boy the password: "Courage".
Walk down the hidden staircase he shows you.
** (Folks who have done this before can just slip across the river after the
first Merchant change by going seven units west, two units south, and then
west behind the Pub after exiting the old man's house, skipping the Imperial
Soldier switch entirely. However, the lines from stealing their clothing are
so cheesy that going after them is worth it.)
You'll exit out in the back room of the mansion. Check the clock for an
Elixir, then go out the door and around. Check in the bottom barrel south of
the door for a Phoenix Down. Go in the house, walk upstairs, then go into
the first room. Walk behind the bookcase for a hidden passage. After you
get downstairs, walk down the path, and you'll be prompted to choose to
remove your disguise or leave your mercantile clothing on. No matter what
you choose, overshoot south to find a secret passageway. Walk right to find
a dungeon with chests that contain a Hyper Wrist and Hermes Sandals.
Go back upstairs and walk up to the first door to see a brief scene. Celes
will join you. Talk to the soldier and swipe the Clock Key in his pocket.
Go over to the next room to save. Go to the room at the end of the hallway
and scrounge the four chests here for a net 3000 gil (one will be empty).
After you've looted what you can, go to the northernmost clock and use your
Old Clock Key to wind it up. A hidden passageway will be revealed. Be sure
and equip Celes before you enter.
Parts of the passageway here are hidden. Head straight east, then after the
first overhang, head south to get an Iron Armor. Go back north, continue
east, then head north to get around to the trio of treasure chests. One is
already open, but the other two contain a Heavy Shield and a Great Sword.
Head back the way you came to the intersection west of the treasure chest
trio, then head two units south and go west to another hidden passage. Take
those stairs down to an X-Potion and Hi-Ether. South of the X-Potion room is
a hidden passage to a Ribbon. Go back to the intersection, then head all the
way south and then west to get the last chest down here, an Earring. Go east
to climb the stairs out of South Figaro.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[07SF] Cave of Figaro
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
*****************
Scenario Treasure: X-Potion (formerly Phoenix Down), Ether (no change),
Thunder Rod (formerly Ether)
*****************
There's not much change here from when you were last, other than that there
are harder enemies lurking inside now. The treasure chests in the south part
of the cave can be picked up safely now, as they will not change again. If
you don't want a Thunder Rod, you can leave the northern chest be until the
latter half of the game, where it will turn into a Hero's Ring.

[07BS] 7B. Banon's Scenario
_____________________________________________________________________________
=============================================================================
Required Characters: Edgar, Terra, Banon
Enemies: #30-31
- Valeor, Wild Rat, (Darkside), (Specter), (Eukaryote)
Bosses: None
=============================================================================
Fight the same enemies you did on the Lethe River before on the way out.
Once you exit the river area, head northwest to Narshe. Go to the passageway
west of the beginner's building that Locke took Terra out of earlier. When
you examine it, you reopen it. Travel northeast inside of the caves. When
you exit, head up the stairwell to yet another cavern. This particular cave
has some new enemies, so slaughter them.
The next room is a memory trap room. The proper route is illustrated poorly
below. The little o's stand for the boulders. The game illustrates this,
then notes that if you fail to follow it directly, you'll be surrounded by
eight lights. You must tag the orange dot that appears to be permitted to
backtrack to the proper route; otherwise, you'll be forced into a battle and
then moved back to the start immediately afterwards.

Three enemies are only available here from failure to hit the orange dot-
Darksides, Specter, and Eukaryote. They are not included in the Bestiary
itself, but they ARE available as Rages later in the game.
Take a side trip to get a Rune Blade in the small Moogle cave outside of the
exit from this room, and go east out. You'll find yourself clear as day back
where Terra was running at the beginning of the game in Narshe. Head east
outside across the bridge to the old man's house to end this scenario.

[07SS] 7C. Sabin's Scenario
_____________________________________________________________________________
=============================================================================
Required Characters: Sabin, (??????), ????, ???
Enemies: LOTS - many are unique to this area.
Area around the Lone House: #32-35
- Stray Cat, Aepyornis, Nettlehopper, Chippirabbit
Imperial Camp: #36-39
- Captain, Imperial Soldier, Templar, Satellite, (Doberman), (Kefka),
(Soldier)
Phantom Forest: #40-41
- Ghost, Poplium
Phantom Train: #42-48
- Cloud, Angel Whisper, Oversoul, Bomb, Living Dead, Apparition, Siegfried
Baren Falls: #49
- Opinicus Fish
Serpent Trench: #50-52
- Anguiform, Aspiran, Actinian
Bosses: #284-285
=============================================================================
As you begin this scenario, you'll be alone with Sabin. You'll see a house
nearby. Enter it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[07SH] 7C1. Solitary House
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Outside the well to this house you see a familiar face - Shadow. Shadow is
purely optional for this scenario. You can recruit him into your group any
time up to (and maybe past?) the Phantom Forest during this scenario, but
realize that he has a small probability of bailing on your party after any
given battle, and once he bails, he is gone for the near future. He'll be
good to have as an extra pt member, but realize that he'll be leeching xp.
If Sabin has Rising Phoenix (level 15+), I advise against recruiting him.
Otherwise, add him in.
Talk to the crazy old man in the house for some kicks and giggles. The
soldier on the chocobo outside sells a variety of useful items. He'll leave
the house after a set number of seconds, but if you exit the house area and
reenter, he'll be back. Be sure and purchase some curative items before you
depart on your journey. If you added Shadow, grab as many Shuriken as you
can muster, plus a handful of scrolls.

Head southeast. You'll eventually see a small yellow desert next to a
bridge. Approach the bridge and you'll enter the Imperial Camp.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[07IB] 7C2. Imperial Base
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
**************
Camp Treasures: Star Pendant, Green Beret, Barrier Ring
Doma Treasures: Remedy
**************
As you enter and walk south, you'll run into a pair of Imperial Soldiers
fighting. After they're done, you'll switch temporarily to Cyan, a new
Samurai character. If you talk to one of the Imperial Soldiers in Brown,
you'll engage them. However, all you need to kill is the Captain in the
black uniform to drive them all off. Both the Imperial Soldiers and Captain
count towards your Bestiary.
Control will switch back to Cyan. Talk to the guard in front of the tent to
your left to engage Imperial Soldier x 2, Magitek Armor in a battle. Enter
the tent to your right. Kick the chest inside to cause the Doberman dogs to
attack you: note that this is your only shot to fight them in the game. They
do not count towards your Bestiary, however, they WERE a Rage for earlier
games (presumably still here as well), so Rage completionists, do NOT hit the
chest. Hitting the chest would get you the chest anguish free. After you
defeat them, pop the chest open to get a Star Pendant.
Go south across the bridge. Watch another brief scene. Try to walk past the
wall to see yet ANOTHER scene. Afterwards, you'll confront Kefka, who
appears with no formal enemy listing. Attack him once and he'll run away
like a baby.
Do NOT talk to Kefka right away after he runs away the first time. Instead,
quickly explore the other tents. Run west first off to the chest north of
the lone soldier in your way left to engage the ONE-SHOT ONLY enemy, a
Satellite. This enemy IS a Bestiary only enemy. This is the ONLY PLACE for
it. Be wary if you fight it solo, as the Satellite will Berserk you and then
call for help. You'll get a Green Beret for winning. Go around to the spot
north of the northwest corner of that tent, then press up to jump off the
back of the wall to the tent north of you. Opening it will give you a
Barrier Ring. Walk south and outside the tent to automatically jump back up.
Talk to Kefka. He'll dash off again. Talk to him to reengage, and smack him
upside the head again to make him scamper off. Continue west and he'll have
a pair of Templars and Imperial Soldiers attack you. After you defeat them,
you'll be thrust into yet another scene.
You'll control Cyan again. Enter the castle, turn left and go down the
stairs, then enter the Throne Room. Talk to the king, then exit the Throne
Room. Go to one of the southern doors and enter the room there. Examine the
jar next to the dead soldier for a Remedy. Enter the room east of the Throne
Room to continue the story.
The POV (point of view) will return back to the Imperial Camp. Talk to Cyan
from behind him or from his side to join him in battle. Talking to him from
the front and offering aid will result in you getting shunted to the side.
You'll need to fight three before Cyan will join you officially:
Fight #1 - Soldier x 4?
Fight #2 - Soldier x 3?
Fight #3 - Officer, Soldier
Afterwards, you'll find yourself in Magitek Armor again - this time with
Sabin and Cyan (and Shadow if you have him). They'll have access to the same
commands Biggs and Wedge did earlier. Go east and blast the Magitek Armor in
the first automatic fight, then the Magitek Armor and two Imperial Soldiers,
and finally two Magitek Armors, heading back towards the entrance.
Once you leave, head across the bridge and southwest until you see a bridge.
Cross it east, and head south to the forest there. Be sure and save before
you enter.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[07PF] 7C3. Phantom Forest
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Almost all of the enemies on the train are only accessible now, so be sure
and get random encounters as much as possible before you disembark from the
train.
As you enter the forest, walk east all the way, then go north. In the next
area, you'll walk automatically to a spring and refill your hit points. You
can refill them as often as you like if you walk over here again. Go east
and head south to the next small area.
The next area is a bit of a conundrum. Heading south will lead you in a loop
back outside of the forest, so head northeast. Walk east, then go north to a
train. Enter the first car you can access. Once you enter, it'll start
moving. Run off and try to go through the way you came. You can't.
Instead of heading towards the engine, first go east towards the caboose.
You'll see a ghost wandering around. Talk to it, and it will temporarily
join your party. If you don't have Shadow, you can have up to two ghosts
join you. Enter the interior room, talk to the conductor, save, and mess
around there to your heart's content. Once you step outside of the
conductor's room, you can recruit another ghost if there's space in your
party. However, ghosts will die for good if they fall in battle, and cannot
be revived. Ghosts also have a handy suicide attack - Possess - where they
kill the enemy they inhabit.

don't need to buy any items, fight it and go outside. Climb up on the roof
of the car using the ladder. Press all the way west. You'll advance
immediately to car #5. Enter car #5, then flip the switch on the north wall.
You'll walk outside. Reenter car #5 and hit the switch again to advance. The
random enemies will change slightly from this point forward.
Car 5 - Two fights, one joiner.
Car 6 has no ghosts to fight, enlist, or shop at. Instead, you'll hit the
dining car! Enter from the east side and sit down at the table for a
refilling meal! When you're done, exit outside, then enter through the west
exit to pick up an Earring.
Car 7 - 2 fights, one joiner.
Car 7 is a set of sleeping cars. The only room with anything inside is the
east door. Attempt to open the chest, and you'll get in a fight with
Siegfried. You'll get a Green Cherry for winning. Unfortunately, Siegfried
will... you'll see.
Car 8 - 2 fights.
This car looks outwardly identical to Car 7. The left room contains four
treasure chests. The left one is a monster-in-a-box that will drop a Hyper
Wrist, and the rest are a Phoenix Down, Sniper Eye, and Phoenix Down,
respectively. Nothing is in the right room. Be sure and talk to the
conductor.
Car 9 is a save point. As you cross the boundary between cars 8 and 9, any
ghosts in your party will leave. Walk over to the Engine. Walk to either
the northwest or southwest part of this room, face where the "front" of the
train would be, and read the directions there to learn how to advance. Throw
the first and third pressure valves down, then head outside and west to press
the smokestack switch. Throwing it will cause you to fight the Phantom

As you enter Baren Falls, you'll enter a brief scenario. If you have

the jump. Move your character all the way against the northern edge, and
you'll be presented with a choice - Jump, or Stay Put. Jump. Make sure your
characters are fully healed before you do so.
You'll be thrust into a series of automatic battles, as follows. Just make

When you're done, you'll get your first glance of a young man - Gau. Welcome

for Gau. A significant proportion of the regular enemies of the game will
show up on it, but when you fight them, all you will get are gil and later
on, AP - you will not receive any experience points. As you battle in this
area, you'll see Gau pop up after battle on occasion. You can't get him yet.

Buy at least one Dried Meat from the item store. Talk to the citizens in
town. Be sure and visit the west house and talk to the soldier there. Bring
him the letter, read it, and then go to the house at the center of town and
pay 500 gil to the mailman there. Check that house's clock for an Elixir.
The purpose of the inn here is not to refill your HP and MP - you can go to
the back room of the Relic Shop and sleep for free. Rather, staying at the
inn advances the soldier scenario, as you'll get letters in the soldier's
room after each inn visit.
As an alternative route of advancement in this quest, you could also do the
following per a correspondent of mine, Draven: In Mobliz, while doing the
letter side-quest you can talk with the man who asks if you know about the
Serpent Trench. Saying no, will go into the explanation and therefore mini-
cut scene, which also updates the letter quest!
The sequence of stuff that you'll send with the mailman is as follows:
Letter > Record > Potion > Letter > Book
After the last delivery and inn visit, talking to the soldier will net you a
Tintinnabulum, which recovers your HP automatically for every step you take.
Go back on the Veldt and fight until you see Gau appear again. Don't attack
him. Instead, give him a Dried Meat (select Item, select the meat, select
Gau and press A). You'll get a brief scenario and he'll join you.
The game explains Gau so well that I'll simply quote/paraphrase here:
Choose Leap, a command that appears only when you're on the Veldt. Keep
fighting on the Veldt. When he reappears, he will have learned the attacks
of the monsters you had him leap upon, plus the enemies you're fighting
during the battle he returns. Choose Rage to have Gau use any of the attacks
he has learned.
Gau starts off with the following rages: Zaghrem, Angel Whisper, Wererat,
Belmodar, Silver Lobo, Hornet, Cartagra, Exocite, Magitek Armor. Leap all
over the Veldt to your heart's content and get as many Rages as you can
stomach, because you won't be able to come back here for a long while. When
you're ready to go on, head towards the southern part of the Veldt to the
Crescent Cave.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[07CC] 7C5. Crescent Cave/Serpent Trench
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Explore the cave to your heart's content. There are five possible scenarios
you can get into if Gau is in your party here:
1) Three up - triggers as you enter. Explains what you must do.
2) Four units up and one unit right from #1 - nothing special.
3) Five west, two up, and three west from #2 - potion.
4) 3e, 4n, 6e, 4n, and 4w from #3 - 500 gil loss, but funny.
5) 8 north of the Serpent trench-bound exit.
Once you trigger event #5 to get the Diving Helmet, you are forced to head
into the Serpent Trench. Like the Lethe River, you will move automatically
through the Trench, being forced automatically into battles. There will be
two times in the Serpent Trench you will be pressed to choose which way you
wish to go. Press right both times to get the treasure.
As you enter the first cave after selecting the first right turn, head right
for an X-Potion. Heal yourself if you need to with items, then exit north to
continue down river. Press right at the second mid-river intersection point.
Follow the path upstairs when you arrive at the second cave. Hit the switch
in the bottom right corner, draining the water, then go back up and climb
down the staircase. Drop down the now exposed hole. Head west and up the
stairs to get a Green Beret from the chest, equip it to whoever you like for
the def and HP boost, then follow the path south out of the cave. Continue
traveling down the river.

Hyper Wrist, Thief's Bracer, Reflect Ring
**********
After watching a brief scenario, you'll find yourself on a battlefield
controlling Terra. When you talk to one of your allies, you'll switch
control to that person, enabling you to equip him or her with items to your
heart's content. Saving your game resets your present character to Terra.
Talk to Banon when you are ready. Mog will explain to you the ins and outs
of what will happen next. You'll be fielding three separate teams, each of
which must consist of at least one member.
If Sabin is above level 15 and if you feel confident in executing Rising
Phoenix, he can solo as his own group. If not, toss Gau in with him.
I recommend the following setup:
Celes Edgar Sabin
Locke Terra (Gau)
Cyan
(Gau)
Edgar and Sabin are extraordinarily good at decimating multiple enemy units
as they move up the battlefield: Edgar by using Bioblaster, and Sabin by
using Rising Phoenix. Cyan's Flurry Bushido is decent as well, but it takes
a long time to prepare.
Move your allies down the field when you get started. There are three "gap"
points, so to speak, where the enemies can slip through to engage Banon and
force the scenario to end. If you move forward enough, you can reduce that
down to two. There are two types of soldiers: Green and Brown. Each can
spawn two possible fights, as follows:
Green Soldiers (12 on the field)
- Corporal x 4
- Hunting Hound + Corporal x 2
Brown Soldiers (11 on the field)
- Heavy Armor + Corporal x 2
- Fidor + Corporal (?)
There is one more Brown Soldier in addition to these who runs back and forth
in front of Kefka, located at the southernmost point in this zone. He will
always spawn a Hell Rider fight. If you're quick, you can totally avoid him
to fight Kefka, but Bestiary completionists must get him here.

This "boss", who is nominally optional in that you can avoid him if you're
quick enough to dash straight to Kefka, shows up on the Veldt. He's trivial
to defeat.

Have your party with the most members advance forth to fight:

Genuinely annoying. If you have Celes in your group, she should use Runic to
absorb Kefka's powerful Blizzara spells. Other than that, spam Cure spells
and Hi-Potions to keep your HP high and keep your fingers crossed that you'll
defeat him before he kills you.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Witness the scenario. Afterwards, Terra will leave your group temporarily.
Choose the members of your party. You can come back to his house at any time
to switch out members. Most people will take four, but if you only have
three, you can recruit a special fourth member very shortly.
Wander around Narshe. Go into the Elder's House and search the clock there
to get an Elixir. Go up the stairs to the eastern house to find 5000 gil,
Earring, Thief's Knife, Hyper Wrist, Thief's Bracer, and a Reflect Ring.
There will be one more chest there that is locked. You cannot open it until
later in the game.

Enter the Pub building as you arrive in town. Climb all the way upstairs,
then go right out of the door closest to the armor sign. Go upstairs and
into the right door for an Ether. The left door is rusted over and cannot be
opened until the second half of the game. Go back downstairs.
Turn north and turn west at the inn, walking all the way over behind the
large tower. Enter the armor shop for a Potion. Head back east into the
inn. The citizens of Zozo, perpetual liars that they are, will give you
hints for the proper time for the clock inside. Scroll to the bottom of this
section past the below boss to discover what that time is, but if you do a
bit of research, you can narrow it down to only one possible time. When you
punch it in, you can obtain a Chainsaw, a new tool for Edgar that does either
big damage or instantly kills an opponent.
Head south to the accessory shop on your left. Follow the path upwards and
walk back outside, then up another flight of stairs. You'll see a lot of
thieves spouting hints for the clock...and causing you a load of grief when
you try to walk ahead.
Once you cut your way in line and get out, climb up the stairs four stories,
then enter the closed door there. The hook takes you back downstairs if you
need to leave town for whatever reason. You'll get a Brigand's Glove in the
chest beyond the closed door.. Equip this to Locke so that he can use the
Mug command. Go back down two floors, and enter the open door. Press to the
left so that you jump out the window. Continue left in this fashion.
Enter the first room you come across. Head north and climb up the stairs.
Check the back two pots for an Ether and Hi-Potion. Walk south to get back
outside, then climb the stairs and jump through the windows back east to the
main tower. Climb the flight of stairs, then enter the room.
It's time... to climb another flight of stairs! Go up the interior three
flights, then mosy west and back outside. Climb two flights of stairs.
Enter the room there to get a Burning Fist for Sabin. Go back outside and
climb one more of stairs. A dark-skinned NPC is blocking the final flight.
Refill your HPs and then talk to him. You'll remember that everyone in Zozo
is a pathological liar about the time your screen flashes to signal that
you're about to engage in battle...

Climb that last flight of steps. You'll enter a large room. Open the chests
to your left and right past the first set of walls for a pair of Hermes
Sandals and an X-Potion, then talk to the figure in bed. After a brief
scenario, you will get your first four shards of magicite: Cait Sith, Kirin,
Siren, and Ramuh.
After this, if Shadow was in your party, he'll depart. You'll be forced into
using Locke and Celes for the next section of the game. Your other two
allies are up to you, but I recommend Edgar and Sabin for a special, minor
piece of info if you saw their earlier scenario in Figaro. You can change
your remaining two pt members at any time - if you're willing to trek all the
way back to Narshe.
The time for the clock, by the way, was 6:10:50.
Return to Jidoor. Go to Owzer's house at the north end of town and talk to

Enter the opera house and talk to the Impresario at the entrance. After the
opera's overture, leave the balcony section and walk to the main lobby, then
climb the east staircase and enter the dressing room. Talk to Celes to
switch control over to her, then read the script. Exit northwest to get on
stage.
When Celes starts singing, select the following choices:
Decision 1: First Choice
Decision 2: Second Choice
Decision 3: First Choice
Afterwards, Draco will come down. Talk to him, and he'll move. When he
stops, talk to him again, and rinse and repeat this until he turns into a
bouquet of flowers. Touch them to collect them, then climb up the stairs and
to the edge of the balcony. Watch the rest of the opera, and have fun
singing along!
After the singing scene, walk Locke outside of the dressing room, have him
read the letter on the floor before you leave south of the script. Go back
to the balcony and talk to the Impresario. You'll cut to a scene with
Ultros. You'll have five mintues to prevent him from... well, you'll see.
Bolt northeast up to the control room.
Only flip the switch the stagehand tells you to hit - the far right one. The
other three can be flipped to time-consuming and humorous effects. Head back
south past the Impersario and northwest to the door that was locked before.
You'll find yourself on top of the stage, with five sets of rats wandering
around. Fight them if you must for your bestiary's sake, but realize that
each group only has two possible sorts of rats. Avoid the rest and head
straight to Ultros. Heal your party before you do so.

You can talk to the folks in some town for some very interesting background

Head east as you enter, and go through the pipe west all the way to the
conveyor belt. After you get off, open the chest south of you to get a
Flametongue sword. Catch the crane north of you to head back east. To your
right, you'll see two pipes. Go in the right one first so you can get an
Ether, then go back through and go down the left one to get stuck on another
conveyor belt leading south. If you messed up, no worries. Just go through
the pipe west of you (the chest by it contains an X-Potion), go north, and
take the elevator back up, then loop back around to here.
Take the conveyor belt east. Pop the chest for a Thunder Blade, then go
south and pick up a Remedy. Go west on the conveyor belt to a new area.
Next, head southwest until you see a stairwell. Pop the chest southwest of
it to get a pair of Dragoon Boots, then take the stairwell and go north
through the door. Open the chest there for a Golden Shield, then head back
south down the stairs. Head all the way east, and then go south down a
staircase. You should see a door south of you. Go through that and open the
chest there for a Golden Helm. Continue east until you see another door like
that. Go through it, then go all the west and turn/press the A button until
you unearth a set of Golden Armor. Climb the stairs due east and go north
slightly until you see a chest for a Tent. Turn around and go back at this
point, since you've reached a dead end.
Go back to where you entered this area, due north, but do NOT take the
conveyor belt east. Instead, go to the stairs northeast and follow the path
they create. Slip between the barrels down the pipe, then go east at the
first intersection to get an Icebrand and a Zephyr Cloak. Head back west and
go south - all the way, and you'll be ejected back by those pesky conveyor
belts again!
Finally, go ahead and go down the conveyor belts. Walk south a bit past the
crates to see a scene. If you've gotten all the treasure, continue south and
drop down via the conveyor belt. Do NOT talk to the Espers immediately.
Instead, use the door west of the blue creature and heal up at the save
point. When you talk to the red creature (maybe the blue as well), you'll be
thrust into battle.

what spells he's vulnerable to, make life simple: just pummel him with non-
elemental attacks.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Go north after you defeat Number 024. Pass by the Espers, and press the big
button on the device at the front of the room. Celes will leave you
temporarily, and you will obtain six new Espers: Unicorn, Maduin, Catoblepas,
Phantom, Carbuncle, and Bismarck. Head east and get on the elevator with
Cid. Save when you get to the bottom, and talk to Cid. He'll shove you into
a mine cart, which will result in five continuous fights as you go down the
tunnel on your way out.
There are two enemies located only here - a Purple-hued Magna Roader and a
Red-hued Magna Roader. The Purple-hued one is virtually guaranteed, but the
Red-hued Magna Roader is not. If you fail to get a red one within the five
forced fights, reset your game.

then zap the right one with lightning. Be sure and have Locke steal from the
right Crane for an opportunity to get the Debilitator for Edgar far earlier
than normally possible.

Once you defeat the crane, you'll fly straight to Zozo. You'll be thrust

You'll be in control of a mysterious Esper named Maduin. Exit your hovel and
head north. Choose to return with the woman, Madeline, you find there. Talk
to her in bed. Talk to everyone, then push past the youth guarding the gate.
Talk to Madeline. After another scene, talk to the Elder. Talk to the Esper
blocking the doorway, and wait and watch to end the scene.
Terra will rejoin your group afterwards.

Press Start to go amidships.
Press Select to view the world map. Hold L and left or the R button and

Now that you have an airship... you ought to go places and show it off!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Narshe
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Go back to Narshe and enter. After a scene, go to the locked place and watch
Lone Wolf be his normal, pickpockety self.
Follow Lone Wolf through the Narshe Mines where you messed around with the
frozen esper earlier on. He'll tell you to stop or the Moogle gets it.
Stand still for a moment, and Mog will go nuts. You have a choice - get a
Gold Hairpin that will half your MP consumption, or get a sexy white Moogle.
Most of you will probably choose to get Mog, mainly because later in the game
you'll get items that easily strip a Gold Hairpin's abilities. He's not a
required character at all, but darn, who doesn't love a Moogle that can
dance?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Miscellany
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that you have Mog and your airship, it's time to do a few more things
before continuing with the game. First, Mog needs some new moves to fit his
new groove in your party. He gets new dances if you end the fight in a
particular "background" for an area. He can get all but one in this part of
the game - the final one is available during the latter half only.
Wind Rhapsody: Fight in any plains area.
Forest Nocturne: Fight in any forest area.
Desert Lullaby: Fight in any desert area.
Love Serenade: Fight in any town area. Zozo will prove to be the quickest
area to reach to unlock this one.
Earth Blues: Go back to Mt. Kolts and fight in an outside mountain area.
Water Harmony: This Dance used to be obtainable in the first half of the game
only, but you do get a second chance later on in the game. The quickest
route to get it. Land your airship on the Veldt by Crescent Cave. Enter the
Serpent Trench, and enjoy. After you exit, get a Chocobo in Nikeah, then
head east and south back to Baren Falls, retracing Sabin's scenario. Jump
down the falls, and you'll be back on the Veldt. If you miss it now,
fighting for a summon in Nikeah later in the game with Mog in your party will
also enable you to get it.
Twilight Requiem: Mog should already have this one from your time spent in
the caves of Narshe, but if not, the quickest spot is to go inside of the
Cave of Figaro and fight inside of there. Otherwise, just snag it in a few
minutes in the next area.
In Jidoor, you can now go to the auction house and bid on a number of
possible prizes. While most of them are marked up and are ignorable (and
some are just there for humor, like the Talkobo and the 1/12000 model
airship), keep your eyes open for two pieces of magicite. Zona Seeker will
cost you about 10k at auction, and teaches you Rasp and Osmose ridiculously
fast. Golem will cost around 20000 gil, and teaches you Stop magic,
unobtainable no other way until the World of Ruin.
Return to Tzen. A thief will be wandering around behind the trees offering
you a piece of Magicite now in the northeast corner. He charges 3000 gil for
it. If you wait until the World of Ruin, he only charges 10 gil, but
goodness knows that getting the Seraph Magicite now will save you a LOT of
time in obtaining spells with its ridiculously high teach rates.
Once you've done these things, land on the island northwest of the Veldt.
When you enter the forest, you should engage a number of bombs. Fight up
there until you encounter a Grenade. Kill it to get #73 on your Bestiary
list.
Finally, go fight Intangir. Though he's not the immediate kill that he was
in the SNES and PSX versions of the game, he's worth fighting at least once
to get him on your Rage and Bestiary lists. Have at least two of your party
members learn Stop from Golem, then have them constantly cast that while your
other party members do non-elemental damage of some sort. As long as Stop is
constantly applied, you can easily whittle down all 32000 of Intangir's HP in
a matter of moments. You'll get 10 AP for winning the fight.
Once you've done these things and anything else that tickles your fancy
(completing any last minute bestiary additions, for example), go back to the
south continent and to the...

Go to the Imperial Base northeast of Albrook. There's no one there.
Shocking! You are not forced into having Terra in your party, but if you
fail to enter without Terra in your group, you'll get a message stating that
the Espers won't give you the time of day without her around. Therefore, you
must have her when you enter the cave itself.
Enter the cave, remembering to save beforehand, and snag the treasure chest
from the right to get an Assassin's Dagger. Go south. On B1F, open the
chest down the left path to get a Kazekiri (windcutter). Walk down the right
path.
The next room is very remniscient of a room back in FFV. If you look
carefully at each of the spots, you'll see about half a dozen bridge
locations that never vanish. Once you've determined where those are, move
out to them and stay there until the bridge changes. There are only two
major patterns. The two chests in this room are an X-Potion to the upper
right, and southwest has a Heiji's Jitte, which transforms Setzer's Slot
command into Gil Toss. Go to the southeast area by way of the northeast land
mass to continue out of this room. If you mess up, you'll fall in the lava
and will have to start all over again.
This large room next has a variety of traps and pitfalls. First head
southeast above ground to reach a Hi-Ether in a chest. Return back to the
entry and head down the stairs instead. Follow the path to an eastbound
staircase. If you climb and pull the switch on the bridge, you'll drop
straight down, triggering a distant sound. Head west and north across the
bridge to a chest containing a Genji Glove. Going back the way you came and
going slightly north of the staircase leads you back to the entrance.
However, for now, backtrack to where you fell down and head east up the
stairs there.
Once you get to the far side of the collapsed bridge, head north to two
skullhead switches. Pull the left one to open a hidden passageway. Enter
inside to find a Save Point and a tent. Hit the right switch to cause a
ninja to drop down from the heavens. He'll give you a hint as to what to do
next.
Cross the bridge right and pull the skeleton switch to cause a stairwell to
appear due east. Cross it.
In the ground by the stairwell, you can find lots of treasures. The
following locations are all from the end of the staircase, save for the last
one:
One left: Invisibility Scroll
Two down, three right: Water Scroll
Six? down, one left: Gold Needle
Four north of the Hi-Ether Chest: 293 gil
"And I was just about to claim all the treasure buried in the ground beneath
the big stairway for my own..."
Go down the path through the door and head northeast. There's an Elixir in
the chest. The two switches east of you have no real effect - other than
annoying you as that chest Head east and hit the first switch to your left.
Walk around the second switch and flick the switch on the inside of the chest
across the bridge up . If you hit the second switch, the bridge to the chest
on the northern island would vanish
Go southwesterly across the bridge below switch two. Hit the switch on the
hill there, and a door back east will open up to a room with four chests,
containing a Magicite Shard, Hi-Ether, Magicite Shard, and the Ultima Weapon,
one of the most powerful weapons in the game.
Go east and to the bridge north. Pull the switch to cause the islands to
move, then go east. Pull the switch on the island there, then head north.
The sole purpose of the chest west is to cause part of the bridge west of you
to vanish. Go north of the last bridge and open the chest for a Magicite
Shard, then head south to another area. Go up the stairs to arrive at the
Sealed Gate. Attack whoever you meet there once. When the scenario is over,
walk back outside. You'll see an archway out due south that wasn't there
before, enabling you to exit out the front. Watch the scene that follows.

Treasures: Alarm Earring, X-Potion, Ether, Gale Hairpin, Holy Water
**********
Hope you got everything taken care of before you went to the Sealed Cave,
because your airship is in shambles now! Walk or ride a chocobo from your
present position by Maranda to Vector to see what exactly you've left in your
wake because you just HAD to have Terra go to the Sealed Cave. Those poor
little Imperials!
Go north into the Palace area. After you've climbed the first staircase
there, a guard will escort you to the Emperor. Follow him. Before you go
on, it is highly advised you read the below information first.
Talk to Gestahl. He invites you to dinner. However, he wants you to talk to
a lot of Imperial Soldiers before dinner time. You will have four minutes to
talk to 20 soldiers, gather all the treasure from the Imperial Palace you
can, and to fight four more soldiers into acknowledging your superior
strength. Or something like that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Banquet Preparations
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The locations of the soldiers are as follows:
1 - Interior Room, immediately outside throne room (regular soldier)
2 - Interior Room, immediately outside throne room (regular soldier)
3 - Interior Room, immediately outside throne room (Magitek)
4 - Interior Room, immediately outside throne room (Magitek)
Continue south and outside. You'll see three more soldiers there. #6 as
listed below is a Mega Armor, which is a Bestiary mark that I believe is only
possible here.
5 - Guarding the staircase back to town (regular soldier)
6 - Standing by the double staircase into the Palace, left. (Magitek, FIGHT)
7 - Standing by the double staircase into the Palace, right. (Magitek)
Dispatch the armor as quickly as possible. Go back inside, turn left
immediately and go through the door. Go in the door immediately ahead of you
to get an Alarm Earring and X-Potion, then walk out and up the stairs to your
left. Enter the door you see there into the dormitory.
There will be six visible soldiers in here. Be careful and talk to everyone
here - it's very easy to miss one with how they move about so. Open the
chest on the right side of the room for an Ether.
8 - Left side dormitories, walking around. (soldier)
9 - Left side dormitories, walking around. (soldier)
10 - Left side dormitories, walking around. (soldier)
11 - Left side dormitories, walking around. (soldier)
12 - Left side dormitories, walking around. (soldier, FIGHT)
13 - Left side dormitories, in bed.
When you've talked to everyone, go to the room north of you and talk to the
soldier on the toilet. If you do NOT register him as soldier #14 afterwards,
you missed one of the soldiers in the other room.
14 - Left side dormitories, in the W.C. due north (FIGHT)
Walk out of the dorms. Head east and north up the stairs to the top of the
palace.
15 - Stairwell west (soldier)
Upstairs, talk to all the soldiers, then go in the room all the way at the
top of the stairwell. In this room, where you saw Terra get
16 - Soldier walking left side upstairs
17 - Left Side Magitek, upstairs
18 - Right Side Magitek, upstairs
19 - Guarding Door upstairs, left side Magitek
20 - Guarding Door upstairs, right side Magitek
21 - Slave Crown Soldier (fight)
Go back inside through the door by the Magitek soldier on the right side.
Walk downstairs back to the main room, then go down the stairs and into the
first door you see. Head north into a roomy dormitory. Open the chest there
for a Gale Hairpin.
22 - Right Dormitory (robed Imperial)
23 - Right Dormitory (soldier)
Go through the passageway south. There is a Holy Water in the chest in the
W.C.
24 - Right Dormitory, W.C. (soldier)
And you're done! Head back downstairs and enter the last room. There's no
one in here but Kefka. Go up to the door to his cell to watch a moderately
amusing scene, then make sure that you have talked to everyone. Time is
probably very short by now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Banquet Negotiating
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gestahl will sit you down and ask you a series of questions at the banquet.
Question #1) To what shall we raise our glasses?
A) To the Empire.
B) To the Returners.
*C) To our homelands.
Question #2) What do you think should be done with him?
*A) Leave him in jail.
B) Pardon him.
C) Execute him.
Question #3) No one ever dreamed Kefka would use poison...
A) What's done is done...
*B) That was inexcuseable.
C) Apologize agan!
Question #4) By the way, with regards to General Celes...
A) Was she an Imperial spy?
*B) Celes is one of us!
C) We trust her whether she spied or not.
Question #5) Was there anything else you wanted to ask?
- Answering any of the questions is fine. Just be sure and note to yourself
what question you asked first.
Question #6) With your permission, I'd like to move on to discussing the
espers...
*A) I still have a few things to ask.
B) Okay.
- Ask the remaining two questions you have here, making sure to not repeat
a question at any time that you've asked previously. He'll repeat
question #6 until you select Okay. If you ask a previously asked
question, it will result in a penalty.
Question #7) They're just too powerful... if we don't do something, they'll
tear the entire world apart!
*A) They've gone a bit too far...
B) You're the one who brought them here in the first place!
Question #8) By the way... what was that first question you asked me a minute
ago?
- If you answer correctly, you'll get credit.
Question #9) Why don't we take a short break?
*A) Take a break.
B) Keep talking.
- When you take a break, go around and fight the Imperial soldiers sitting
next to Gestahl. You have two minutes to win. I don't believe fighting
here has any impact on your final score, but the soldiers here are ONLY
available to fight here for your Bestiary. Sit back down at the center
chair when you're done.
Question #10) Is there anything you wish to hear me say?
A) That you really want peace.
*B) That your war is truly over.
C) That you're sorry.
Question #11) Would you please go on board?
*A) Yes
B) No
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aftermath
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the banquet, your party will be reduced to Terra and Locke for the
journey to Albrook. Exit the banquet room and throne room, and in the main
area, you'll talk to a robed Imperial. Depending on your performance and
ability to talk to all the soldiers, you'll get the following prizes, in the
following order. You must do perfectly at the banquet and have talked to
almost everyone to get the last of these prizes.
1) All Imperial troops will be withdrawn from South Figaro immediately.
2) In addition, Imperial forces will be withdrawn from the kingdom of Doma.
3) We will also unlock the armory at the Imperial observation post to the
East.
4) Tintinabullum
5) Ward Bangle
Head southeast to Albrook and the Observation Post. If you unlocked the
armory at the post, you can get the following items in the chests there:
X-Potion, Angel Wings, 8000 gil, Angel Ring, Alarm Earring, Elixir, Hi-Ether,
Hermes Sandals, Reflect Ring, 13000 gil, 20000 gil, box in corner with
another Elixir, Flametongue in stove(!)
You can also go to airship and talk to Setzer for a special scene, giving
some background on him.
