Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Question from marchemasamune
Asked on: 12/17 10:47PMI just bought FF Tactics Advanced used from someone. I've been playing it for the last couple days and got about 5 hours into the game. Today I turned it on, but the only option was "New Game" and it said there were no saved games!
I don't know what happened, so I started over. I started saving periodically, but sometimes when I go to save it says both slots are empty and there are currently no saved files!
I played for about 2 hours, then saved it and turned it off. Later I turned it back on, but had to start a new game again! Arggg! Is my GBA broken, or is there something wrong with this game? Anybody have any advice? I would really like to be able to play this....

statushmmm, you buy it and game was used..... I think that the last owner of game broke the game and then he has sell it to you.... did you tray other GBA games on your GBA. If you can save on other games, you know where is your problem
its the game
Sadly
Well it does sound like the previous owner some how corupted the game card and it was then sold to you. Only thing you can do is replace it im afraid.
The previous owner might of pulled the game card out while he was saving or turned it off while it was saving to corrupt the card like that.
Best choice...by a new ff tatics advcance.
It should be the game which is having a problem but not ur game boy.
I had the exact same problem with my Final Fantasy I & II Dawn of Souls, so I really know how you feel. So, i basically tried everything, and these are my best answers:
-So its' impossible to fix that, so you might have to return it to the person you bought it from and try to look for a new one, or
-If you're that lazy to get the money back and buy a nother one, you can always keep your game on the whole time if you have spare game boy SPs :P either way, i think it's best to replace it. I tried everything to fix it, and it sometimes saved, but most of the time it was corrupted... (serious, i spent the whole weekend working on it)
I had the 108 in 1 game that included FFTA. If i didn't save after every mission, the game would erase if left unplayed for about 3-4 days, sometimes just hours. I suggest saving very often and saving into both slots. It might take up a little extra time, but it's worth it. (Note: the version i had was compatible with a normal FFTA, so it is probably just the game, sorry. If saving doesn't work try what i did, get a new game used with an already saved game. it shouldn't cost much, that's what i did.)
For the 5th answer going down. If you leave your SP on to long the game will glitch. I know because I was on a really important mission on one of my games but I had to be some where else. So I left my game in the charger and when I got back to it it glitched and I had to start a whole new file. So yah a bad idea to do that. I don't know if it works differently for the DS.
It may be possible to fix this. I did this with a Pokemon game (lame, I know :p). What MIGHT be the matter with your game is the internal battery, which may be dead. I can't verify if GBA cartridges work the same way as Gameboy or Gameboy Color cartridges, but I followed this guide for fixing my Pokemon Crystal when I was having the same problem and it worked very well:
http://www.pokemasters.net/forums/showthread.php?t=15464.
The difference between what I did and what the guide did is that I did NOT solder, I just used some tape to secure the battery between the two prongs. If your game isn't saving and you can't get your money back, then you've got nothing to lose and might as well see if the GBA game works in the same way. Worst case scenario, your game doesn't work and you have to go get another one, which you'd have to do anyways. The battery is cheaper than a new game by quite a bit :p. Good luck.
UPDATE: I can confirm that the GBA cartridge works in nearly the same way as the GB or GBC does:

Hey, it's worth a shot.
I had this problem once. What sometimes causes it is when you turn off the game whilist saving. If thr problem persists, I'd suggest calling Nintendo's tech support.
Sorry to say but ...
Its the game ...
Sorry. Its the cartridge. That happened to my pokemon gold. I went back to play it after like 5 yrs of not playing and the same thing happened to me. It said save failed and then file corrupted or something like that. So i downloaded an emulator. Problem solved. :)
