Does erasing Clear Data make it impossible to play the game on Hard as well as Easy?

I understand that Easy requires the Clear Data to exist so as to copy over the data to the new game, but if you delete the Clear Data are you also unable to play the game on Hard as well?

Yes. Both Hard and Easy mode require a clear data file to exist.

Answer

You can't select 'easy' or 'hard' mode unless you have clear data that you're using in your new game.

You need a clear data file. If u want to play on on hard or easy, u select new game and after you choose hard or easy, you simply select the clear data and you're done.
