ok, i got the magic mirror. I ran to the first dungeon and i used the pegasus boots. when i got out of the castle i entered the dark world. what just happened?

I dashed downwards with the pegasus boots.
The main gate of the castle is a portal to the dark world.

statusYou are automatically put into the dark world when you go through the castle's main gate, if not then you could get stuck in the world!

It is explained somewhere during the game that the castle gate has become a portal to the dark world.
