"Decent RPG for a Decent Handheld"

Summon Night Swordcraft Story has the same battle system as the Tales of... Series. The Story is pretty unique but it's nothing too big and the game will keep you coming back for more. The game is has some funny lines in too.

Story 8/10
You are a boy/girl entering a tournament to become a great Craftlord like your father who was a great hero that many respected. Things get complicated as you progress through the game and it makes you get into the game wanting to know more about the story.

Graphics 9/10
I really like the graphics for this game, as it has anime style here. It looks kinda like Golden Sunand Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories. When you're in battle your character be cel-shaded which is cool as I like cel-shaded sprites. The graphics is nice for a GBA game. I am impressed.

Sound 6/10
The music are nice but kind of gets repetitive later on when you hunt for materials as many random battles appear, but at a point it got me to hum to the tunes.

Gameplay 9/10
This is the part that I like the most. Without gameplay the game wouldn't be fun would it? Anyway, unlike other RPGS where you get weapons from treasure boxes or buying them from shops, you collect materials and techniques to make the weapons for your own! In battles your weapons have durability where your weapon goes poof if it hits 0 and you'll lose that weapon and if your weapon broke in a tournament you lose. Controls are easy to master and the battle system is cool. You may get annoyed with the battles as the random encounters often occur which is quite annoying if you want to get on with the game. This game is quite the unique RPG game.

Replay Value 7/10
Lots of dialogues depending on what your choice is when a question comes up or depending on if you choose the male or female character or which Guardian Beast you got

Overall 9/10
A great, unique RPG game for the GBA with amazing battle graphics, multi-player mode, character and lots more. A must have for RPG fans that have enjoyed the Tales of... series!
