Bookworm
Review by Scarface
"Good clean fun."
STORY: N/A
There is no story. It's a puzzle game.
Game play: 8/10
Okay, it's not as good as its online counterpart, but of course, seeing the limitations of the GBA, it can't be. Let me repeat: its for the GBA. So to the whiners: It can't be as good as the one on the PC, but this is as good as it gets for the GBA.
This game is played as a tower of letters. You have to select a combination of letters to make a word. The larger the word, the more points. Heaven to vocabulary masters, a great tool for the ones with a less masterful command of English. The game play is fun and addicting, and makes your brow furrow and think hard. And seeing how the game is probably about 5$ now, there's really no reason to get it.
Controls: 7/10
Its sorta weird, and doesn't just feel right to me, but thats probably cause when I played it online, I could to control it very fluidly with the mouse, instead of moving the D -Pad around. They aren't super bad, though, and like I said, it's the GBA, so no complaints here, especially if you haven't played the online version.
Graphics: 7/10
Not that great as the PC, but then again, that's the PC. Although they could have made improvements, its not bad. It looks a little strange though with the graphics all compressed when it shows you what rank you are at. Also, the title screen is slightly pixelated, and can get on your nerves, but it's not a major factor.
Sound/Music
6/10
Its just weird and corny. I mean, it has a nice feel and ring to it, but its just VERY corny. But, for a game like this, sound isn't usually an important point to most people, so this also doesn't make a huge impact.
Replay Value: 10/10
Unlike most GBA games, this has unlimited replay value, being a puzzle game, and also very fun to play as well while you're at it. Tired of getting owned by a boss on your RPG? Pop this cartridge in your GBA instead!
Buy/Rent:
Most definitely a buy. It's really old, and now last generation, so it's next to free at any game retailer. Also, regardless of what age you are, genre you prefer, you'll like this game.
